      what happeneds if you dont use the icing sugar?

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jacqueline Garcia Hi Jacqueline, the powdered sugar ( icing sugar ) makes the peanut butter portion much easier to roll up. You can try it without
      using the icing sugar, but it will be messy and very wet. I hope this helps, and thanks for watching :)

    Been making these for 25 years every Christmas, our family loves them! It is useful to know, IF the chocolate happens to get overheated and seizes up, you can usually fix that if you add vegetable oil and stir well with a whisk.

    These are always a favorite. When making, I just use my hands to combine. It can be difficult to use a mixer. And then chilled for easy ball making. Chill again, then dip in chocolate later. Usually I make a day ahead, then dip in chocolate the next day. Keep in the fridge. We love them cold.

      Thanks for watching Kevin ! 😊 Glad you are enjoying the recipe, and yes, making them by hand is a great way to go, amazing what great tools we have ( hands ) Oh and yes, doing them a day before really breaks up the work, the next day dip and go. Cold sounds good. Nice crunch you get too.

      ***** Hi Nancy, unfortunately, you can't do that. If you melted icing, it would just become a huge mess. You need chocolate, you can use chocolate chips, a chocolate bar, any type of chocolate will do. I hope this helps :-) and thanks for watching Nancy !

    Hi Lynn, these freeze well, but there is no need, just keep them in the fridge. I'd say you could keep these 2 weeks. I've never had them hang around more than a few days, but they do keep well. I'm sure they keep more than 2 weeks, I'd even say a month in the fridge, there's nothing that is going to be "off" in that recipe. I hope that helps you a tiny bit Lynn. Thanks also for watching my video :-)

    Hi Kelly, you can start making the chocolate right away. The balls do not have to be super cold for it to work, and if you are really in a rush, you can pop a small tray of them into the freezer to quicken up the chilling time. I hope this helps you. Thanks for asking your question, and thank you for watching my video ! :-)

      Hello, I have my element on "low" so on the lowest setting, you do not need boiling water to melt your chocolate. Hi LexiLexi911, yes, just be careful. I always use the defrost mode. You don't want to scorch your chocolate, so using defrost is the best way to heat it. I have many chocolate videos where I microwave my chocolate. Thanks for watching :-)

  • @BakeLikeAPro
    @BakeLikeAPro  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Kassandra, removing the sugar will change the recipe, however if you do not have icing sugar, please use regular white sugar at the least. This will impart the sweetness, and also firm up your mixture. I hope this helps, and I hope you try it some day :-) Thanks for watching !

    you really do want to use icing sugar. Regular sugar just won't combine and dissolve like icing sugar. Icing sugar will be much more smooth ( less grainy ). If you don't have access to icing sugar, you could try it with regular sugar.

    I'm planning on making peanut butter rice Krispy treats today, my mom made them the other day and said the were like rocks after maybe 2 hours or so. I looked online and it said that when peanut butter melts it will be liquid-ish, turn back into regular peanut butter, then turn rock hard. I was wondering if you knew anyway to prevent this, thanks. +BakeLikeAPro

    Do we need icing sugar? Can we just mix the peanut butter with butter only?

      Hello Fadzli, *yes* you can use a chocolate bar instead. Any type of chocolate you enjoy you can use, it will work 100% OK. Thank you very much for watching my video ! 👍😁

    Where can yu get icing sugar ? Never heard of it

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Every grocery sells it, Walmart too. Icing sugar is also called powdered sugar or confectioner's sugar... 3 name for it, but it's all the same sugar. Oh Costco sells it also, at about 1/4 the price of all grocery stores.

    Whenever you say icing sugar are you talkin about powdered sugar?

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yuppers. If you watch enough of my video recipes, I *always* talk about this. Not only is icing sugar called powered sugar, it's also called confectioner's sugar. 3 different names, but it is all exactly the same sugar. Thanks for watching ! 👍 if you are on Facebook, you can also find me here: facebook.com/bakelikeapro ✅

    Hi Alanound7, not in this recipe, but there are others that may do that but the texture would be very different.

    I didn’t use an electric mixer. Just used spatula to mixed it but I wasn’t able to form a ball. It’s way too runny. Is it because of me not using an electric mixer?

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Fadzli, an electric hand mixer is truly a great tool in your kichen, you should consider purchasing one. That said, even with a spatula it should have come together "ok" I'm going to guess you added too much peanut butter, or not enough powdered sugar. If it is still not coming together, you can try adding a bit more sugar, or adding more Rice Krispies which will absorb some of the moisture in the recipe and dry out it out, enough to have you roll them into balls.

      @@BakeLikeAPro Thanks for the suggestion. I thought that I added too much peanut butter too even though I actually put less than the amount you stated. I guess need to put even less. I actually have a hand mixer but just lazy to clean it and I thought I can get by using hand for this recipe.

    Hi,sir I made this truffles but after keeping them in the fridge they didn't get firm & became more sweet & after coating with milk chocolate 1st it became firm then the outer covering found to be little sticky why this happened

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, these are Rice Krispies peanut butter balls, if you are talking about truffles, perhaps you wrote this on the incorrect video ? I do have truffle videos here also. If you are using good quality chocolate, then the chocolate would never become "sticky" are you sure you are using pure chocolate ? What you describe doesn't sound right. All chocolate even fake chocolate that contains vegetable oil ( compound chocolate ) will get very hard ( firm ) in the fridge.... so I don't see how this can happen. All fridges also will be at about 3 degrees C to be food safe, this is very cold... so chocolate would be very very firm - even after being in the fridge for only 15 minutes.

    icing sugar? is that the same thing as powdered or confectioner's sugar?

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Sarah ! Yes, it's all the same thing, icing sugar = powdered sugar = confectioner's sugar. 3 names, for the same icing LOL. In more recent videos I now try and let everyone know during the video that it is the same. A lot of confusion from so many. Thanks for watching, and I hope that clears it up :-)

    Hi arpita27july, Thanks :-) Your post got me confused a little. There are no eggs in this recipe :-) So you are in luck ! Now, for eggs, in *some* recipes, if the egg acts as a binder you can use banana or even apple sauce. Some recipes that won't work in though. 1 egg = 1/2 a banana approx. I have to be honest and say I don't have any experience with vegan baking, so I can't help you out much :-( I'm sorry about that. Hopefully somebody can answer this better than I did for you.

    I made these with Coco Krispies instead and then I used plastic Easter eggs as a mold. Just in time for Easter.
