- Yes, "The Wheel" and "Theology" are mixed up, because one alphabetical order ignored "The" and the other didn't.
Expand and scroll down for individual quote times. All of the Civilization IV Tech quotes including those in Beyond the Sword and Warlords expansions.
They are all in alphabetical order, so enjoy!
Go to Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Assets\Sounds\Tech to find the mp3s yourself if you own the game.

I somehow overlooked that in my final run of the video before exporting, and realized it soon after when I was re-watching after upload. *sigh*
But thanks!
Overlooked what?
@@The360MlgNoscoperTheology and the Wheel’s quotes have been swapped, and one is used twice.
Weird that we were both here within 24 hours though.
@@justanothercommenter5835 i noticed the first one
Nimoy reading the Ozymandias quote still gets me every time. Something about it is just moving
The whole poem is moving. We are just stories throughout time itself.
Agreed! His voice is iconic as it is, but that one quote was amazingly well read.
I love the books he's read and would chose his take on audiobooks over any other option. There is a soothing calmness to it.
2:48 for anyone searching
It certainly gets the juices flowing. At the end of breaking bad, when Walter whites intro to the epoisode "ozymandias" played,it gave me even more goosebumps cause it was like the cool kid, acknowledging us nerds 🤓
Most memorable one
I called my Nethack character Ozymandias because of this its stuck in my head forever
Researching tech in Civ IV was a double treat, new tech and Leonard Nimoy's pitch perfect diction. He will be sorely missed.
RIP Leonard, your voice in this game is what made me care about things, you gave my a philosophical point of view in life , Thank you
+ballsofass this guy and the quotes from SmAC, did u try that game? : )
I love Civ V, but I wish he had voiced the technology quotes
@@MarcDufresneosorusrex smac is close to the greatest game ever made. If someone..somewhere made a modern version with updated (not amazing) and maybe a little better AI ....
"All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players: They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts." RIP Mr. Nimoy, you truly played many wonderful parts.
3:26 for the lazy
"BEEP... BEEP... BEEP... BEEP..." -Lennard Nemoy
Sputnik actually. Leonard Nimoy was quoting a Russian satellite.
I know lol
I use it as my notification sound. I get a few funny looks.
its da Roach Dogg
I came here for 9:40.
This quote as performed by Nimoy pops in to my brain on occasion.
I really have no good explanation why.
Where is it from?
Literally came here to find it. I say it randomly now and then, its ingrained in me. I haven't heard it for years though. Thank you Nimoy for this, wherever you may be now.
I came to this video to look for this quote because it popped in my head. The way he says it is amazing.
Yes. You and me both. It just happened. I had to find it.
@@nikitaavramov6519 Rock Island line by Johnny Cash. Yes, he did a cover, but it's specifically from his cover
Good bye,Leonard.
the sad news brought me to this video. His voice is just immaculate.
Came here to say this and to listen to the quotes once more. Such a shame.
+Eddie Tran Sid's voice sucked. Long live Nemoy
It's not a shame. Everyone has to go eventually, and he reached a respectable age and accomplished a lot in his life. :)
**sighs** Oh for the love of SPOCK!!!
*F*
....Live long.......... And prosper....
they aren't all voiced by Nimoy a few are voiced by Sid Meier
Yep the BTS ones were voiced by Sid Meier
I was always wondering who the other voice was in the narrations! After 12 years almost of playing, never would have guessed it was Sid Meier himself
@@heckctcctc167 same
Civ IV as a game is all legendary.
Its funny how I know most of these and I am unable to recall a single quote for tomorrow's English exam.
that's because your english teacher isn't Leonard Nemoy
Did you pass your exam
quote beep beep beep beep
Leonard Nimoy will forever be the best narrator in the Civ series. It’s hard to believe he’s one with the cosmos now
so much wisdom compressed in 11 minutes 38 seconds
Definitely agree
"You can have the Model T, so long as its black"
Minus the Future Tech one. No wisdom from Dan Quayle. Instead, lets take some wisdom from Danny Elfman: "The white folks think they're at the top, ask any proud white male. A million years of evolution, and we get Danny Quayle."
10:22 So deep... RIP Leonard
Haha
beep
2beep4me
Little known fact. He was close to laughing by the end of saying that quote. Tv Tropes told me that.
Nimoy's reading of the Priestly Blessing is the voice I hear it in every time.
This is also where he got the Vulcan Salute from.
They missed a trick by not using "Live long and prosper" for Future Tech.
or genetics
Beep .. beep .. beep .. beep.
Thanks, Mr. Nimoy, you will not be forgotten
"I AM THE STATE!"
ATADSP Yes You Are The State.
not yet
Kirrim Kerman
It's treason then.
"The Republic will be reorganized into the First French Empire!"
- Darth Napoleon
I haven't played this game in many years but I found that I remember all of these word for word. I took a look at the civ5 quotes and found that I barely recognized any of them despite playing civ5 more than civ4. Nimoy's voice really leaves an everlasting impression.
10:23
Beep... Beep... Beep... Beep
my mother WHAT?!?!
He sounds like someone who isn't sure if they're a robot or not.
"Beep... Beep... Beep... Beep..." - Sputnik
9:14 I saw someone reference this Bible verse today and immediately thought of Leonard Nimoy reading it. Thank you for posting. ❤️
Live long a prosper RIP
It's because of this game that whenever I hear a quote from the Bible or anything ancient Leonard Nimoys voice pops into my head
I'd love to see a Civ where James Earl Jones narrates the tech quotes.
or morgan freeman
8:18
I love this quote so god damn much
I knew that Civ VI's Sogno Di Volare was based on a Leonardo DaVinci quote, but I had completely forgotten that that very quote first appeared in Civilization IV. (4:55)
I got all pig iron.
9:40
Farewell Mr. Nimoy. You've been immortalized. RIP
There will never be another Civ 4....and that makes me very sad.
They need to update it
@@Collectorfirearms f that, new civs suck theyll ruin it, just find a resolution mod - nothing wrong with game otherwise.
@@PutYourQuarterUpGaming I mean add more mods and improve on how artillery works in mods such as road to war where a stack of arty is overpowered and work on how to make the computer fight better such as they attack with infantry first then arty in most Napoleonic mods
Sean Bean is great, but you can't beat Leonard Nimoy.
The Civ 4 quotes were so much better than Civ 5. They should have reused more of them.
couldn't agree more nimoy makes them awesome
The Civ 6 quotes are the worst.
@@j.p.9522 i find it amazing how they seem to be running the series into the ground
@@narnbrez It really is.
some of the ones in Civ 5 are the same as they were in 4. The Plastics one for instance was the same with the exception of in 5 they say the name of the other person in the conversation.
My 8th grade English teacher worked on Civ 4 (he even said he hired the lead guy for civ 5) and got to meet Leonard Nimoy in person for him to record.
"Then one fine mornin' she puts on a New York station...
You know her life was saved by Rock 'n' Roll"
Ben Franklin's quotation (Liberalism) is probably the best rendition ever. Nimoy's voice is simply perfect for it. I get the chills every time
Rest in Peace Leonard Nimoy, truly great man
At 0:46 you can hear Leonard make a mistake. He uses the word "kind" in place of the actual quote "kine". Kine being an archaic word for cows. Just sayin.
You are a wizard.
also, did you notice that wheel and theology are reversed
Atleast we can continue his great voice in this iconic game, we will still miss him. Live long and prosper
I came here for one specific one and stayed for the whole thing. Thanks!
It was Satellites wasn't it?
His voice is so iconic and recognisable - it's amazing. Coming from a non-english speaking country, I have not heard it before I was playing this game and also didn't recognise it for what it was. Only years later, when I was listening to other recordings of his did it dawn on me.
It was one of the best parts of the game...I have civ6 with all the expansions, but nothing can ever touch the beauty and chaos of civ4 beyond the sword. You could do so much more with the game back then when they weren't trying to "perfectly balance" it.v
I like how the first 2 aren't even Lenard Nemoy because none of the techs added in BTS were voiced by him.
They were voiced by Sid Meier himself
“Wisdom is not about everyone agreeing with you, but everyone agreeing with your words.”
If leonard nimoy was a quote.
My favorite video on TH-cam.
Besides 6:18 is grandly ironic :)
3:46 sounds like Mr Spock quoting The Rules of Acquisition
1:40 makes me feel at peace
I only recently remembered the Construction technology quote about Ozymandias. Hearing the original poem and then the voice who said the quote here... (2:47)
My visual memories of my past playing Sid's Civilization 4 are in shadows, but not my emotions.
After hearing each title theme of Sid's Civilization 4 (each DLC's main theme) and hearing the Ozymandias quote, I believe that that part of me is whole or awaken again.
O, what great memories have I lost which only its residue remains in my mind.
Back in the days when games taught you something...
But they still do.
As long as you play the old ones.
Coosch
The newer ones teach you just as much, that is to say a minimal level.
katten elvis
Honestly games like Europa and Crusader Kings are good for that stuff. Myths still persist, I've noticed a few quotes from CivIV are innacurate despite being a fucking amazing game.
Maps!
Yeha, compare Alpha Centauri quotes and general lore and CIV 6 and try to repeat this with the straight face..
I think it says something that I can remember what technologies almost all of these quotes go with
Astronomy made me cry.
11:04 Clever use of the quote in context of superconductors
2:48 best in the game!!!
2:30 and 9:53 the same quote for two techs but different by only one word? Lazy much Mr Sid?
I have listened to this many times, and never noticed this! Quite odd. It works for both technologies, but there surely must've been others to choose from.
Leonard Nimoy, you will be missed :(
10:29 is my favourite
This is why civ4 > than civ5!
This is only _one_ of many reasons why Civ 4 beats the pants off of Civ 5.
It’s late now but the voice of Civ 5 was the voice over actor for the Medal of Honor mission videos back in the days. He died a couple of years ago but did a great job. Nimoy edges him out but I think they fact that Civ4 was better than Civ5 also makes it easier to select Nimoy.
Goodbye Leonard you will always live long and prosper within us
I can also see you put a lot of good effort into this. Good work.
2:49 made me learn Ozymandias of Egypt by Percy Bysshe Shelley. Still know that one by heart. ^^
Love this, thank you!
I really love the Astronomy quote.
I know it's foolish but I feel that I learned a lot from simply listening to these quotes while playing Civ as a much younger lad.
Well, Civ 5 is a different game. I wouldn't doubt that there are some add-ons or mods that provide translated quotes if they are not in the initial release of Civ 4, though.
Playing civ6 with all the expansions, and still missing civ4 Beyond the sword. Leonard Nimoy, and big stacks of doom are what I miss the most ❤
Whoever thought to get Leonard Nimoy to voice this was a genius
I have just realized something, replaceable parts and chemistry both have the same quote from the same person!
2:49 Nimoy helped me through freshman year college English
4:56... I have tasted flight, and yes, I long to experience it again after quarantine is over.
leonard nimoy is the sole reason why civ 4 is the best one of the franchise
"The bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs the expanding bureaucracy"-Anonymous...That's perfect.
That's actually came from Oscar Wilde
Thank you Mr. Spock, very cool.
@truvak It is indeed Spock himself. Apart from a few that were added in the expansion. Look it up :)
My favorites:
7:45 "The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones" - confucius -
4:54 "For once you tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return" - Leonardo DaVinci -
10:23 "Beep... Beep... Beep... Beep..." Sputnik 1
11:12 theology-wheel swap !
The bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy…how true
live long and prosper
BtS techs were voiced by Sid Meier, who, while an awesome guy, just doesn't quite have the voice of Leonard Nimoy.
The railroad quote didn't make sense to me in the past. And now listening to it, I realize I recently learned it's origin without realizing I learned it's origin. The excellent and classic song Rock Island Line ( covered by many people.)
i laughed when i first heard it in civ... thinking of Johnny Cash's version
Wow. Nice work. thanks for doing this :)
You transposed the "wheel" quote with the "theology" quote. :(
Otherwise, this smacks of absolutely great. I love the steam power quote. :3
I just realised that Composites have the same quote as Replacable parts.
4:51 After seeing Oppenheimer, i wholly expect a giant explosion to occur.
So Spock new about this all along...
Fascinating.
Fission is my favourite, but they're all very well selected... Such an amazing game
merci! been looking for this :D
I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT WAS THE LEGEND HIMSELF!
Bronze Working quote always gave me chills xD
R.I.P Leonard Nimoy you will be missed
plz enable the subtitles if u still can so that they could be searched
"All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players: They
have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many
parts"
- Me, impressing others by quoting Shakespeare casually because I'm brainwashed by Civilization
Satellites (10:23) LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite.
I think Leonard Nimoy's greatest work is reading the quote for satellites.
He also did the voice over for Seamen ¬___¬
RIP Leonard, listening to these quotes now so many years after last playing this game.....the quotes in civ 5 really don't have the same impact and generally aren't as good as these ones
Not even close. Like the game better, but not the quotes. I don't think there will ever be better. Maybe they could get Morgan Freeman to do Civ VI ( but they may have already done them)
The game is worth playing through for this alone
Galvatron is so tranquil and wise when he’s not trying to kill members of The Breakfast Club.
Still the best Civ tech quotes
Oh and Stealth was good too, haven't really had any reason to research it so was new to me :)
His voice ages like fine wine.
Dammit this was good.
Rip You will be remembered
Now that I'm an adult and know who most of these people he's quoting actually are these hit different from when I played this as a kid
We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children
