I'm happy to discover your channel. I've had a fascination with Oxford for several decades. I'm enjoying your presentations and histories. Funny aside, I live in the Seattle area of Washington State. I'm having a reflective moment as I recall the movies and BBC television series I've watched over the years and I recognize the colleges you are sharing. Thank you, Rob!
Another first for me it seems :) An enjoyable but all too brief tour of Oxford`s old colleges.I do know which is the oldest, but it would spoil the video for others if I mention it. Having been an academic in Oxford for nearly four decades, people often think I should be familiar with them all - but one didn`t have either time or good reason for doing so, something I regretted, but have attempted to put right on subsequent visits with interest and pleasure. Thank you Rob, you do indeed know your history :)
lots of history in oxford - fascinating really .. worked at cambridge university press enjoyed it lovely atmosphere like a company felt like a college .. my girlfriend was at hughes post grad - has anyone done a professional series on the colleges - well branded history interviews like an insight for potential students.. or a tv series lucy worsely is very good - genuine academic historian and often looking for subjects for series. after oxford series, durham edinburgh etc etc -
@@barnabydinosaurroadsafetyp3457 With a view to prospective students, Oxford University ( a few years ago now ) initiated a series of short videos introducing quite a number of colleges, with interviews and opinions of faculty and undergrads. the videos often included a pocket history of the particular college, specific courses available as well as expectations, financial support and post degree possibilities. I thought it a well presented and informative series :)

Thank you. Love Oxford.
Yes I love your content 😮🥶🥶
St. Edmund Hall - 1226.
Thanks 😊
A pleasure
Look at the Halls please. They are in Oxford and need to be explained, please. Especially St. Edmunds because of its place off the high street.
Thanks yes I am well aware of them, especially Teddy Hall but could not include it because it did not become a college until the 20th C
Fine presentation, except that no mention was made about the Catholic Church's role in the establishment of Oxford.
True and nearly all of them were from that ear

Oxford University offers mostly academic subjects. You might try Brookes, also in Oxford
He is wrong. Lawrence of Arabia was from Jesus College as an undergrad. Not All Souls.
He is right, and you are too. Laurence was an undergrad at Jesus, a fellow at All Souls - and also a postgrad at Magdalen!
Hertford College has to count surely?
Hertford.became a college relatively recently though there were antecedents of course
I like Oriel College the BEST
Good for you, have you a particular reason for this opinion?
University college
