Fun Fact: The ICS sponsored XR4ti which Andy Rouse won the BTCC championship in 1985 and 3rd in '86 was also the Mercury Mekur badged 2.3 turbo engine version in the USA and homologated in Brazil. He only managed a best of 3rd place in the championship in the RS Cosworth and RS500 over the following 4 years of racing.
Well to be honest I thought it was going to be about the bikes but of course I stayed and enjoyed every minute as usual, you are a canny couple of blokes with a fountain of information so what’s not to like.Steve is definitely underrated and sounds like he has some canny cars himself, keep them coming your videos are a pleasure to watch 👍🏻
Alrite paul buddy pal top bloke😊😊 any chance you could see your way of letting one of your crossers go to a good home, will happily pay and give a donation to a charity of your choice.. pal buddy 😊😊
I would like to see you do a video on your motorbikes if possible? I know it's probably not going to be for everyone or your usual content. But It would be interesting to see what you have 😊 Oh and as well I would like to see you do a comparison of the touring car suspension and the standard cosworth suspension if possible 😉
Love the stories guys, never miss a video you put out. As much as a cossy fan I am. As soon as I heard Steve has a mondeo touring car my ears pricked up 👂 you have to get this one on soon for all the mondy fans/owners (like me) 👍
10k, not bad for 2 daft lads bought a 4WD 3ltr V6 transit from the coppers, log book said 2ltr panel van, wrong cc, wrong engine no. , wrong weight, even their logbooks are dodgy... [we made a really capable, really thirsty off-road spec-lift breakdown truck with it, made a fortune in the 90s working for the police, EVERY decent ford was nicked, stripped + dumped in a field in sunderland]
I absolutely love learning from your videos Ihad g reg rwd sapphire cosy people used to say it was fake this was 20 years ago but am I right that it's only 4x4 that had Bennett vents
Cross over year so 2wd and 4x4 G platers. Yes 4x4 vented bonnet. Iirc there were some H plate 2wd factory cars but unsure if them cars had vented bonnet or not.
If I remember rightly Paul, Duke videos did a really interesting video called the story of the Escort cosworth, told by the people responsible for designing and building the car.👌
Great video as always Paul it was great to meet you face to face at the NEC at last massive bucket list tick for me personally. I would be interested to know your and Steves thoughts on the fact we are very much in a 80s nostalgia market for fast ford cars at the moment and have been for a few years now. What do you predict the future holds for modern fast ford cars in years to come. What cars will the following generations crave after do you think?
Omg paul you forgot when you said you dont know why the saphire 2wd drives better than the 3 door. The shell was stronger on the front the 3 doors used to flex and crack. The saphire couod cope with 400 bhp and not crack although both naturally drive well with a strut brace. With your brilliant oersonality and knowledge this clearly slipped you mind love the channel and still gutted i dont live nearer to you I would of applied for the job you had and clearly you have a great colleague now
Hi guys great video i have to ask being a motorsport historian myself there has never been any mention of fords sierra cosworth rallying history i know your main thing is touring cars but i didnt know if you had been asked to do any 3 dr cosworth rally cars or is this something you keep away from ? Reason i ask is an ex boreham car is currently up sale and just wounded if you had be asked to look over cars like these as you are cosworth experts obviously the rally cars aren't 500s but i would be interested interested to know the spec of them as development was going at the same time as touring cars
Hi Paul, fantastic channel you have and work you do is top notch. You may not know this as it isn’t rs500 related but I have the fiesta st500. Comparing it to the focus st500, which out of the two would you say could become a future classic? Thanks
@@paullinfoot6017 Regarding the new fpr, is there no need to adjust them? I see they are missing the adjustment. We used to adjust fuel pressure when tuning.
What’s the story with the bikes Paul , there on every video but they don’t get a mention ? 👍🏻 Also a few videos ago you mentioned you had an old road car r/s 500 of your own that was put away needing some work like your own barn find , when will the work an videos start on that 1 and what are you going to do to do with it , no doubt it will be a modified 1 or is it going standard
Cool , it made me wonder , If they did use the original 3 door engines for the Saph 2wd what year and month was it , Early 87?. And they had the 2 bolt thermostat on the early engines , Which I assumed went to 3 bolt for Saphhires. Maybe the heads were swapped in the process.
Did you get the programmer for the ECU that looks like an 80s keyboard wordprocessor from Eggenberger? .. Oh, with the Texaco disqualification thing, you have to look at anything at say Qui Bono (Who benefits?) Well, Peter Brock, national legend was getting up in years and always hoped to make 10 Bathurst victories and that gave him his 9th, so that's my take on it anyway
Best driving cossie 2wheel drive Saph...I have to agree with....I bought a 2 wheel drive Escort Cossie that a lad you'll probably know built...Tony Conway...I bought it and converted it back to 4 wheel drive and ruined the car lol 😢😂😂😂
I bought many a Cosworth and parts from Tony Conway between 2004 and 2012. Haven’t spoken to him in a long while, don’t think he’s involved in Cosworths now.
Back 1992, Jim Richards and Mark Skaife won Bathurst in a Nissan Skyline R32 GTR. After the race, a lot of the Aussies were booing Jim and Mark for winning in a Nissan. This is how it happened, and then Jim’s own words broadcast on the live tv interview after the race 😂 4 October 1992, Mount Panorama Circuit, Bathurst, Australia The crowd booed Jim Richards because his Nissan car crashed out, but only after a red flag called the race off. The pro-Ford and Holden crowd didn't like it. Jim Richards: “I’m just really stunned for words, I just can't believe the reception. I thought Australian race fans had a lot more to go than this. This is bloody disgraceful. I'll keep racing but I'll tell you what, this is going to remain with me for a long time. You're a pack of arseholes” And their fans have got the cheek to call us whinging poms!! 😂
73 year old here…loving all your stuff, never miss one………😊

Paul great to see you guys back but have you done an update on the cleaning of the r😢s500 it's been quite a while
superb!
Great video as always 😉😎
Next one like this you should get geordie Adam to interview you pair
Do you know if the mk2 escort RS turbo shell is different to an xr3i due to the spare wheel depth or is it a myth?
Ive used TFR on hundreds & hundreds of cars, & never had a problem.
Would love to see a vid on steves cars sounds a good collection also does paul have a road cosworth
Nice bikes m8 is that a cr to the rite ?
It's like the first Escort Cosworths were a J plate rs 2000 4x4 and they were the ones that did the showrooms.
Would love to see the rapid fit mondeo restored on the channel
did you finish the barn find?
videos coming very soon , yes its finished
@@paullinfoot6017 Regarding the new fpr, is there no need to adjust them? I see they are missing the adjustment. We used to adjust fuel pressure when tuning.
What would be your holy grail RS500? Also why do you think they didn't run ALS like the rally cars when racing?
It was hard enough keeping them in 1 piece , Plus higher rpm type engine compared to Rallye engine low down torque over sheer grunt.
I thought the Bathurst cars were down to fuel only 🤔
no , fuel was deemed ok , front wheel arches was what they got pinged for in the end
I've got a March 88 built sapphire cosworth which I've had for 30 years and was completely standard so I'm off to check the engine number on it now 😂
Cool , it made me wonder , If they did use the original 3 door engines for the Saph 2wd what year and month was it , Early 87?. And they had the 2 bolt thermostat on the early engines , Which I assumed went to 3 bolt for Saphhires. Maybe the heads were swapped in the process.

Get out of the way. I want to see the CR500 and KX500 porn, and the RM and YZ porn 😂
And is that a Maico I spy there?
