One of the coolest things is growing up with these songs was not understanding what they were actually talking about, but still finding comfort in them. and when I come back as an adult, with a radically different understanding of the world they're still comforting, but in a different way. Bittersweet. Reassuring to know someone was saying something, upsetting I didn't understand at the time, and frustrating that these songs stay just as relevant since I first heard them. Like it's good to know there's people fighting, but then you remember that this fight has been going for decades, and probably will continue to. anyone else having an existential crisis?
I can only somewhat agree with you there. Knowing these songs as a teenager (13/14 or so) is what showed me the world needs help. It's what got me into activism and such. These taught me about how much pain the world was seeing just like all the pain i had been going through. Will always be one of my favorite bands.

Rise Against is one of the few bands I know of, where music and message truly come together in a profound way, and can stick in my heart. There is no shallowness in this band.

I've met Tim twice and both times he was the friendliest kindest most humble Rockstar I could imagine he held the door for me while I was getting food today and we chatted in line talking about how we went to the same schools first time I met this guy I was in middle school he rode my snowboard and hung out at a sledding hill with me for over an hour this time he held the door at a sub shop for me and we talked for about 10-15 mins real stand up dude thanks Tim! The gist of their lyrics in this song remind me of many of Linkin Park's songs, but as for Rise Against's use of instruments and the singer's voice, I agree, those parts are quite distinct.

If you are upset at someone but for whatever reason don't tell them then you will end up resenting them. If your cup is filled with hate of yourself then you can never really love anyone. If your cup is filled with feelings for someone else but it doesn't work out and you try to fill the rest of it with feelings for another then it will never work. Take the cup you have now and empty it. Only then will you ever move onto happiness in yourself or with another. Love music where you can take a single line from and gain a paragraph of amazing insight with a few moments of thought.
Last summer I was working on festival loading and unloading trucks it was a bussy job with little breaks between the acts. So at this one break I was standing at the side of the Stage behind a videoscreen all by myself. I was looking over the area and RiseAgainst was playing at the other stage this exact song. One of my favorite moments on this festival. I just checked and the first time I probably listend to this song was 2015 and I still love it .

The gist of their lyrics in this song remind me of many of Linkin Park's songs, but as for Rise Against's use of instruments and the singer's voice, I agree, those parts are quite distinct.
I've seen Rise Against live twice and they were incredible both times.
