Damn. Same here. I don't know why the rest of the internet seems to think the SHIELD is the best device ever made, the Fire Cube is just as good when it comes to power, and the fact that Amazon put a whole Echo into it makes it an absolute breeze to use, not to mention the SHIELD is lacking a lot of functionality in apps aswell because Android TV is kind of the ugly step-child compared to Fire TV and tvOS.
I agree with you. I use to love my 2017 shield but I've been having problems with Bluetooth and my air mouse remote, I keep loosing connection on them intermittently so now I use the cube because apart from not being able to use a custom launcher on it anymore I never have any problems at all.
Still using 4K Fire TV box 2nd gen, you know the one with the Ethernet & SD slot. Not sure why they discontinued them, but still running 💪🏽 like a champ. Did you ever compared that one to any of these 2?

Great analogy, also the fire cube is better than the New Firestick Amazon 4K Max Wi-Fi 6, in which most people that I know do not have Wi-Fi 6, but if you have it then so be it. but the 4K fire Cube is King. they should have just a made-up 4K fire Cube with wifi-6 optional use, and also increase storage.
I'm a fan of the 4K Firestick and recently got the 2nd Gen FireCube and it's better hands down than the 4K. The speed alone is blasing fast and it has double the space. It is also very responsive when it comes to the voice commands.

I can't be the only one that wishes Amazon would still sell the original Fire TV form factor (better than the stick without having to pay for Alexa built-in), can I? I already have an Echo speaker in my family room and don't need Alexa in my streaming device.

I did this quickly so amazon would not update on initial setup. Just wondering what the firmware is before amazon blocked custom launchers
Why you doing this? For real? Absolutely no comparison! The stick is more popular because of its price. Period. The Cube is better than the Firestick by far. In fact it is better than 90% of all the devices available. Not the the best seller for some reason.I guess people don't like the shape or something , just like the Shield TV. The thing is, most people want to pay under 60 bucks for a device.
Had the FireCube before Xmas weren't overly impressed by it no ethernet port, no proper USB ports, 32bit I sent it back and got myself an Nivdia Shield TV Pro
What about the FireTV 4K Max?! I have one it is even faster & smoother than the Chromecast with AndroidTV (By Google!). The FireStick 4K Max has WiFi6 and supports 5ghz WiFi which the Chromecast with GoogleTV dose not and costs more both are meant to support 4K, HDR, Dolby Atmos while the FireTV 4K Max is almost instant the Chromecast with GoogleTV is about 4 to 15 seconds of buffering at 4K content and when just navigating is about 1/2 a second of lag the FireTV 4K Max is damn near instant! I made my FireStick 4K Max which cost me 59aud and an Alexa ot 3rd Gen for 19aud to smartify my home Meanwhile a Google Home Mini is 39aud atm and the Chromecast with Android TV is still 99aud the FireStick TV 4K Max is more powerful and cheaper not too mention smoother and the Alexa Dot 3RD gen is louder and clearer then the Google Mini Speaker 2nd Gen and faster to respond (both are on WiFi AX aka wIfI Gen5 on the old and slow and crowded 2.4ghz bandwidth!) Both are really good but the FireTV 4K Max even at 99aud is just much better Value for Performance and on sale is a no brainer never mind getting an Echo Dot 3rd Gen for 19aud to make it equal to a Firecube 2nd gen AND IT IS STILL CHEAPER then the FireCube or Chromecast with Android TV!
Google TV is also very good. Comparable to the Fire Stick 4K probably, but my home runs on Amazon Alexa, so Chromecast isn't going to do as much for me as Fire TV.
You title " What's better"?? if you want Absolutely the Truth neither one is better than the other. what is better determine which product fits your needs. they both do the same thing send out 4k signals to your TV .....one is a small box compacted with circuits and other shaped like a toothpaste tube.
It's the same thing Literally the one thing it does is your TV can be off and the Alexa works. Basically you get a little bit more power Has more storage so you can download more apps. And if for some reason you don't own a smart speaker and you don't wanna go buy One that somebody is selling for 20 bucks you get all of that for 70 additional Dollars
To handle the proper quality. Or you won't get true 4k. Unless you got a cheap TV that is "4k" then it don't matter to you. But others that have true 4k and better, oh it matters a lot

So that proves my point that's related to this video. Don't care about the other videos. What matters is are the codecs involved and can it handle it. 4k is starting to get more affordable. And on my TV, I can tell the difference from a 4k firestick to a firecube that has Dolby and 4k ect. Even the shield that pushes h265. You can see the difference and these specs matter once you start looking at size and ect. Thats why I explain the power behind it so someone who might be carrying a Samsung 900n series would know which device to choose from.
And I don't dumb it down either. I give it all so you learn and you can make a better decision for your setup. Even down to a cat 8 cable or audioquest cables. I don't think I've ever had anyone come back and say after my recommendations, that it's trash. And if their is anyone that might have said it, I would explain an exit plan if they not satisfied. Just a matter of what your looking for and what you are wanting to experience
