This song is so beautiful and not mentioned enough, much like "Dear To The Heart"/"Holding My Thoughts in My Heart" that plays on the outskirts of Midgar. Such mixed emotions and feelings to them. They're truly amazing, and the Midi audio format only adds to the charm for me, especially from a retrospective, nostalgic standpoint.
Even though you can ''choose'' to have a date with Aeris, Tifa even with Barret😅, it makes more sense lorewise to be with Aeris in that particular moment...
I'll always love their GS date♡. I'm happy that because of this short time, Aerith was able to tell Cloud a lot of things that she keeps inside her. Like, reflecting about Zack and finding Cloud's real self. And I'm happy that the Rebirth date didn't stray from the OG. The lines are kept, and that's just perfect for me. I hope Part 3 finally gives Cloud and Aerith the ending that they truly deserve♡.
The Gondola part of the date with Aerith hits hard in two ways. One if when you're going through it on your first time as there's a lot of in between the lines context there. She's reflecting on what it means to be the last ancient and what I feel she already knows what she must go and do. Meanwhile Cloud I feel is showing part of his true self. That he also is reflecting on if he really did do the right thing by allowing her to come on such a crazy journey. Even if she said she wanted to. The other way it hits hard is if you do this while playing the game and knowing what is to come soon after all of this. Each of their words and thoughts hit different.
It's amazing how if you play Rebirth with the Japanese voices, Aerith's lines in the date are quite literally word for word as what she's saying here in the OG.
I already cant wait for the collective fandom to lose their shit when Rebirth plays this song bc regardless of who you pick its going to be emotional. Unless you pick Barett, then its a night out w the boys
Barrett basically told cloud to go for aerith(he didn't directly say aerith) and take her hand and not let her go. It was honestly pretty sweet. Kind of father-son talk like
For me it was more like the theme of the date with Tifa. There was a moment that she just declared herself to Cloud (with a lot of fear of losing a friend), but her words were drowned by the fireworks. Hence the name of the song. I really love that character. Is an icon of someone whose strength is also her fragility.
To confirm further how this is associated with Tifa and Cloud, remember that this song is played again briefly when Tifa sees Cloud again in Mideel (until she realises he's in a catatonic state)
