Some of the reviews for this don't make sense. This th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA works as well as any power strip I've used. Plug in what you need, be sensible about it & keep it movin' The construction is plastic but it's a sturdy piece. It has a single toggle switch & the swivel jacks are useful as well. Plugged in next to Tripp Lite Isobar takes some of these reviews with a pinch of sumthin' - does what it says & functions properly.Had for about a month. Perfect no complaints will update if anything changes.

I’ve loved my M1 IPad Pro since I moved up from a regular iPad. Cubasis 3 has took all the things I’ve thrown at it, with out even freezing tracks. Thank you Henny!!! Me Being an IPad creator, You are so inspiring!!!!

Dope review. Still chugging with my 12.9 3rd Gen and its still plenty quick for me. Use heavy with Mojo, Luma No issues but maybe the next upgrade after the M1 might be enough of a jump. Keep cranking out the goods, we appreciate it!

Man… I love your content. I got my M1 and the more I use it, the more I wonder why I need another device like a laptop or desktop. My daily job requires a laptop, but I don’t need it for anything creative. I tried the 11, screen is way too small for me. Went 12.9.

Good review Henny & like you I’m still enjoying my M1 iPad Pro! I got the 11 inch for the screen size. I admit though I don’t take it out with me as much as I thought I would but it’s definitely my laptop replacement!

My man 100 grand. Preciate the honest review. I'm a computer guy and i learned the hard way about "latest greatest" craze when it comes to buying hardware (i've been building gaming/audio PC now for almost 20 years). Often times we buy hardware long before we've maxed out the current hardware. In fact "hardware" is never maxed out on purpose. Doesn't matter if it's Windows or Apple, they never let us see how far (or not) what own can actually go. In fact, let me correct myself... they will hamper the hardware you have through software to make you think "how bad my isht is running" and drive you to spend. We saw this recently done VIA crippling iPhone batteries through software updates. I'll for M1 next year, I just got the 2020 earlier this year.

I appreciate this review Henny! I definitely agree being that i have the 2020 model its pretty solid so an update to the M1 wouldn’t be worth the 1799-2500 price tag especially with the limited iOS performance as well as not adding Logic yet to maximize on the power. Plus like you mentioned in an earlier comment the lack of keyboard support(some that do have it are still glitchy and need work) doesn’t optimize getting a magic keyboard. I myself was looking forward to upgrading with 2tb of storage just to really get to work in Daws like Cubasis/BM3. After the disappointing software Showcase they had i decided to cop out on a m1 MacBook Pro wit 2 tb and 16gb of ram. I’m ready to combine both pieces and work and trade files on both. I think it was better bang for my Buck based on the current software/hardware we have.

    Hi Henny,
Loved this video! My sister is thinking of buying this for her son, and she asked me if it’s worth it. I shared as per my understanding, but I think watching this video will help her make a better decision. I have never really used iPads much, and this is why I am not the best person to ask for advice. I found several amazing pieces of advice from this video, and I will definitely share both my learnings and your video with her so she can decide for herself.

I’ve used the 11” and 12.9” in the past. I love the size and portability of the 11” for media consumption and when I would travel for work. I would carry at 15” or 16” MacBook Pro for my job, and tossing in the 11” iPad Pro in my bag was very nice. However, when it came to content creation, research, etc, nothing beats the 12.9”. Since getting the 12.9” M1, I’m actually no longer using my personal MacBook and the iPad has become my daily driver. My job gave me a 13” MacBook Pro, so carrying my 12.9” iPad Pro with it isn’t as much of a burden. To be honest, I’d love an iPad Mini for using to read books and articles in bed or scroll through social media. My collection would be complete, ha. Great vid as always, Henny!

Thanks for the post -- There are 5 reasons for upgrading from the top spec 2020 12.9 iPad Pro to the top spec 2021 version - better screen performance (XDR vs retina), more storage (2 vs 1 TB), T3 -vs- USB-C, 5G, faster processor - but the cost is £2.2k in the UK and that is toooooo much except as an impulse buy. So I will probably buy it !!!!!

Henny - I’ve not been convinced to update since 2018 iPad Pro. Mine is still going very strong and you mentioned there may be a “drastic” difference for those who have 2018 model. Given the 2020 model was a minuscule update to 2018 can you compare 2018 Pro to 2021 Pro? I need to see “the drastic” difference (especially since you’ve kept the 12.9 2018 model around.

12.9 is a beast. The 11 inch is just to small for me. When I get into drawing I need the room the 12.9 offers. And multitasking is light years better on the 12.9 because you can see everything. The 12.9 is the laptop and tablet experience where the 11 inch is more tablet experience

Yeah I went through like three iPads in a week when trying to decide on which one I wanted. I ordered the 2020 11 inch iPad first. Then when I realized I might as well have went with the 2021 M1 version since it was only a couple hundred bucks extra. Agree a few days of using I felt that I really wanted to at least try the 12.9 inch. So I got that one. This was the choice I should’ve made first. The size isn’t really an issue for me, even when using it as a tablet, reading, movies, content, etc. what really sold me was the screen real estate. I like to draw and take notes. Hands down the best for that.

Henny, I also had the 2021 M1 Ipad Pro for 90 days. My findings are a little more dismal. I do have a tangible and replicatible scenario that proves the M1 iPad Pro has a programming flaw and it has to do with timing. I was on the phone with Apple for almost 2 hours and I could not get a confirmation nor acknowledgment that there was a problem.
So on the M1 Ipad Pro I was using iMaschine 2 Version 2.2.3.64 and running IOS Version 14.7.1. My Tempo was 85 Bpm. Under Samples, I chose Loops. Under Loops, I chose Drums then under Faded Reels, I chose “Drums(85) Emotions”. I selected the pad and it copied the sample to that pad. I could not get the sample to match to the metronome. I tried to record a 1 bar loop and could not do it. It would not play in sync or loop. I tried a 2 and even a 3 bar pattern and I could not get it to sync.
I tried same thing on my old Ipad Pro (10.5-inch) It played in sync with the metronome, no problem. I recorded a 1 bar loop and it played and looped perfectly. I also realized with the M1 Ipad Pro, the sample never slowed down to 85bpm.
In conclusion, I used the same program, the same IOS, the same sample and tempo. The only difference was the M1 chip itself. Henny, you have a lot more juice than I. Maybe you know someone in Apple a little higher up that you can alert them about this problem. I also found the M1 Ipad Pro glitchy in other ways. Sometimes the volume was absent from the App, like Garageband and Aum but I couldn’t replicate it.
So if you have the time or know someone who can confirm my findings, I’d appreciate it. If you can disprove my findings please let me know ‘cause I’m getting me a new M1 Ipad Pro!

Netflix (even downloads) and other streaming services with HDR on iPad Pro is awesome in 12.9'' MiniLED + Levo G2 Deluxe iPad stand esp while watching or gaming with controller on bed or sofa. When I'm outdoors, i always go with table anyway like coffee shops. Portability is not an issue. But I already have mbp from 2019...gonna upgrade later this year....esp for TopazLabs AI and other pro mac apps. Most people are better off with laptop and phone first and last the tablet.

yeah, I came from a 2017 12.9 pro model. So I pulled the trigger and got the 2021 12.9 pro model. It was a noticeable difference, but in Apple Fashion its very limited and they don’t use the power that it has. Which is very disappointing. However, this is my main computer and daily driver. It’s not to large to be portable, so I’m happy with the 12.9 size.

Fire review big dawg and your points were spot on how I feel about the new M1 iPad Pros. I too purchased the 12.9” at first due to the new screen and after using it for a little over a week I found myself wanting the smaller 11” due to how I use an iPad, aka a tablet. Side by side you can see a difference in brightness comparing the 12.9 vs 11 and contrast but nothing drastic. The 11” screen is fabulous as well. I returned the 12.9 for 11 and really enjoy using the 11” on a table, my lap, reading books on the couch, in the bed etc etc and using the 12.9 alone was too cumbersome. I’d recommend the 12.9” to ppl using it as their only device and don’t use a stand alone computer or artist/ppl that NEED that screen real estate. The way I found myself using the 12.9” and magic keyboard was exactly how I used my MacBook and I felt that was a waste of money for me.

I also got the Samsung T7 days ago and love that I’m able to free up space on the mobile device. I don’t love the fact that with iPadOS 15, I did not see a progress bar when transferring a 24GB video file from my iPad to the portable drive, but it did it in the end, whereas my 2018 model would stop and give me an error in the middle of the transfer. I do love also that more intensive applications like music DAW apps and video apps like LumaFusion seem to be more stable, if not a little quicker, on the device. One other annoyance with iPadOS 15 is that my Hyperdrive USB-C hub has stopped working, which is a bummer. Even Hyper support said that it’s waiting until the stable release, but this hasn’t happened before with the version 14 beta. I’m able to work around it, though. Overall, II’m really looking forward to seeing how things evolve over time with the M1 iPad Pro

Okay. So I was at a cafe, and watched your video for a second time today. And I was thinking, "Hmmmm....I should try out that 11" size, while I still have time to make an exchange." I walked to my local Apple Store about a block away, looked at and HELD the 11" iPad Pro....and damn, it does feel way lighter! I know it's a matter of ounces, but this size makes it more of a tablet than a laptop, or close to that. When I wanna do videos or make music, why not hold the thing in my hand instead of always having to have it rest on a stand? Sooooo....I went home, got the iPad box, went back to the Apple Store, got an exchange from the 12.9" to the 11" AND the Magic Keyboard, and I still had some money left. Man, when you're right, you're right! Setting it up now, and I'm already in love with the size. This coming after using three iPad Pro models since 2018. Thanks again for providing a public service, sir!

@@samuelmanny6231 I do appreciate that everyone has their own use cases, many more common than others. Since 2018, the iPad Pro has been the device that goes with me, and I left my late-2013 MBP at home. It’s still home mostly, since I have the M1 Mac mini taken over. I can appreciate folks who dig the 12.9” screen on the new one; heck, I went through three iPad Pros with that size. But honestly, I use the device less as a consumption device, so no gaming or Netflix (or similar). I subscribe to TH-cam Premium, but focus mostly on my interests rather than entertainment. I really dig the touch experience, in terms of what I can do with it. Also, I don’t have peripheral vision so HDR isnt’ really all that useful for now. But if you love your device and it’s useful, that’s the most important thing, especially for such an expensive device.

Man some people are obsessed with the mini. It makes sense for the small ones for notes and reading, the largest one makes sense if you dock it occasionally or use it to replace a computer. If you travel a lot or have a lot to lug around I could understand the 12 making me less likely to bring it. It’s definitely a two handed device at that point and for a tablet that fits for some purposes and people and not for others.

Regarding the different sizes--for me the big factor is WEIGHT.
    11-inch iPad Pro: 1 pound
11-inch iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard Folio: 1.6 pounds
11-inch iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard: 2.3 pounds
    Trivially light in my opinion.
It starts REALLY getting into laptop territory with the 12.9:
    12.9-inch iPad Pro: 1.5 pounds
12.9-inch iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard Folio: 2.3 pounds
12.9-inch iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard: 3.1 pounds
THREE POINT ONE POUNDS. Yeah, that's getting heavy. A 12.9 with the magic keyboard is TWICE the weight of the 11-inch with the keyboard folio (which I love, personally).

    • @quan4481

Yeah i agree the pencil is clutch. I do the pencil and mouse combo and i gotta say i cant think of a better combo. Both reliable for those sharp and precise edits or cuts and they flow together a lot better than any combo of the keyboard because like Henny said lack of keyboard support from apps. The track pad is ok, it’s not big enough for me but with a fast cursor speed it gets the job done on most tasks.
