The police are too militarised these days - probably played “Call of Duty” so often that they now believe that they’re qualified/trained just like the military/special forces. Sadly for them, a few hours running around with military forces doesn’t get you anywhere remotely close to the actual military training/capabilities. Besides which, these heavily armed clowns would never qualify or be brave enough to do the job. There’s a huge difference between a cop that deals with the public and rarely, if ever, gets shot at, compared to the incoming firepower that the military face (when deployed) on a hourly/daily basis. It’s this difference in training that allows the ground pounders to not lose it and act in an inappropriate manner, whereas there’s already so many videos of cops completely losing their minds because someone had the temerity to say “no” to the cops illegal actions and orders. The result? The police end up with numerous complaints and being sued, with the taxpayers paying for police stupidity, whilst the professional military get on with the job without anything to be ashamed of.

Why does basic law enforcement look like military? That's a massive tell to their authoritarian direction considering even SWAT shouldn't look the same as military personnel.
When a country has been at war for over twenty years and the citizens get alarmed the law enforcement begins to resemble a military force, well you get what you pay for, lawsuits and all.
Grown men with pot-bellies and the emotional maturity of ( slow ) 15 year old boys. They should not have access to water pistols, more less actual fire arms.

That vehicle and the equipment are instruments of war not rescue. If you paint rescue on the side of a tank would that change its function? Law enforcement is being militarized in violation of the posse comitatus act.

Now, before you complain about Reyes being a troublemaker, please take into consideration that there is a massive lack in training amongst police force. Obviously police themselves doesn't seem to properly take care of this and a lot of times fails at educating their force. And their sense of urgency about it is limited as well.
