Most important thing that simplified this whole 3d shenanigans for me is the simple principle of "The only thing that matters is what the camera sees." Early days were spent trying to get the perfect bevels and creases on a mesh that was only like 10 pixels large on the render itself
Very good video! At the start of using Blender I used to make my scenes way to "perfect". Now that I do it professionally/as a job I use tricks like these atleast 50 times a day. Just accept that time is a thing and perfection is a lie
THAT LAST SENTENCE WOWWW!! Game changer as I'm finally making my portfolio website in EditorX and I need to get a job asap lmaoo. This helped me not spend the rest of my life trying to perfect a portfolio
Fantastic video. I love it, especially that post prod bit. As a beginner myself, I enjoy watching your videos and trying to implement your techniques into my own work. I always forget that what people see is just the end product and not everything that happened leading up to it and that “cheating” to get something that looks good isn’t a bad thing
lol wow, your videos are 11/10. Holy shit. Will become a Patreon after bouncing back from the financial hit that the pandemic/post-pandemic economy has brought upon me.
Hey, I appreciate that I really do, but I ain't starvin. If you're not in a great spot financially don't ever feel like you gotta give me a piece or something. Take care of you and yours first, always. That's all that matters homie. Appreciate the support and kind words though
straight up based! :D I'm glad this is being shared. We've all had that time when we spent just way too long on some mesh or shader that ended up being 4 pixels in the background xD
I think I have a genuine use case for "perfect", as I make VRChat worlds People can and will see everything from every angle. I have a problem with perfectionism, and in order to not burn myself out, I've committed to a mostly flat-lit art style, instead of PBR, which allows me to go all-out with the details without exploding the world's file size, without crashing everyone who goes there, and without making development time take years. But I'm an edge case. For my still frame Blender renders, I obviously take shortcuts. I might pose faces that never get seen because I think it's funny, but I don't detail most things that aren't onscreen.
Now I havent done much rigging in Blender, but I would assume its possible there as well. For the Maximo rigging problem, you could also just parent the your own bones, to the Maximo bones. Of course, you would probably still need to do some of the placing you did, but at least that way you keep your skinning if you already have done it.
I still need to learn to quantize the amount of effort I put into each stet of my work process. I tend to focus too much on some details that will never be visible, only to overlook other aspects that matter more in the final result.
That is totally right in the 3D world. Except for me, I try all the time with every software to generate realword, physics, light, materials, etc... just to find out that it isn't going to happen. If you maybe establish one thing the correct way/outcome based on the real world, than your CPU explodes right before you hit render, by just refusing the workload coming up... 🥺😂
I don't have a rounded cube option, that looks so convenient. What addon is that? I mean, I know I can get the same thing with a subdivided cute and use the spherizing thing (not 'to sphere', the thing you have to select from a list?).
i wouldnt call that softbody as 'fake softbody' its honestly more like an optimization than cheating it :D but u know also, its not lazy rigging, cause its not even a rig in the usual sense :D its just the bone system u transform manually, a Rig system is a system because it is easy to handle for any animator, Animation Ready, to name it Swinging Lamp i would say also a optimization :D i mean... okey fake, sure, not 100% accurate simulation, but most of the simulation isn't accurate either, maybe just closer to the realistic one, but unless u want some aerodynamics or some other very specific stuff, it really doesn't matter u make an animation, pictures, motion, SHOW, and because of this, nearly every cheat and/or optimization is totally legit

Yeah people gotta expand their workflow. I love taking designs into other apps. It’s why import and export exists.

The greatest thig that I have ever discovered is that you can use a displacement modifier to fake rippling cloth. Saved me so much time!

liked, subscribed, added the video to my Blender playlist.
This is awesome! Quick question, is there a reason you don’t just create a new scene at the top right instead of a new blender file at around 4:19?
Habit mainly, but I also like having a very organized file structure so I can separate things for patreon easily.

You need to enable the "extra objects" addon. It comes with blender but by default is turned off.
The real question is... if everything you make in art is an illusion is there ever REALLY a cheat? Great video friend!

Why don't you use mixamo feature to auto rig character online with selction of crucial rig points?
The idea was that the auto rig feature doesn’t always work, so this is a way around it.
