375 ruger was a collaborative effort with hornady and ruger now it is almost impossible to find and $4-$5 a round and you can't complain? All they do is design new calibers that are "better" slow production on the tried and true until everybody jumps on the bandwagon and there will be something better again that cost more making your old calibers cost even more because they are low volume or obsolete local gun shop just told me 30-06 is not a very popular cartridge is why they do not have it in stock but they have 6.5 Creedmoor. The new facilities are very impressive, and their proprietary cartridges are extremely well designed. They’re in the process of building a cartridge line that is revolutionizing the industry.

Very interesting as I'm a reloader. My little bedroom operation sure doesn't compare to Hornady's. I always thought melted lead was poured into the copper jacket. Interesting that it is solid lead that is pressed in. I still would like to know how they get lead inside of a full encasement jacket.
That melted lead core idea was Vernon Speer's Hot Cor bullet. Probably part of the reason he and Joyce Hornady dissolved the partnership and Speer went to Idaho to start Speer bullets. Bullets do have several variations in design and more than a few methods of manufacturing.
I have a large gun safe and I have a lot of Hornady ammunition and I can tell you first hand, Hornady makes great ammunition and I have it in multiple calibers. Moose was looking for someone to pet him. Enjoyed the tour.
Hornady make good bullets....not excellent but appropriate for their price point. My main complaint is their range of bullets for the 7.62X54R, 7.65X53mm Arg. or Belgium, 7.7 Japanese and .303 British. Their bullets are nominally listed as either .312" or .311" but generally run a thou to a thou and a half smaller with a subsequent reduction in accuracy. I stick to SMKs or LeHigh for those calibers.
I guess the tour is one way Hornady advertises their ability to be a major government contractor to compete with Federal and Winchester. However due to their growing production capacity, they can never be able to become the leader in manufacturing anything that could be as precise as smaller manufacturers. The only upside about their growth is their bullets being more readily available and being more affordable.
The raw materials are costing them more because a lot of it is going to military production and exported to Ukraine/Isreal and whi knows where else. Larger munitions is in the mix too. If you haven't been following the industry several of the European manufacturers have canceled orders to the U.S.. They're stocking up their own country's military requirements. That should indicate to one that the world is in a precarious place. For two months all the YT channels have been warning of large price increases are coming in 2024.
I’d never thought about the counter-cyclical aspects of ammunition and component manufacturing. Being able to buy CNC machines for 10 cents on the dollar or hire 35 qualified people all at once certainly makes expansion less expensive. However, you need the quality control and training systems in place to take advantage of those opportunities. Most of all, you need the corporate culture to sustain quality and innovation. Now would you *please* start making 8.6 Blackout brass?
Sorry about your brass! They can make a million rounds a day however it will only be in 6.5 Creedmoor I'm still waiting on 375 ruger brass and that was a hornady designed cartridge

They only make 7M rounds a day? I wonder how often that Lead truck comes by... Thanks for the excellent tour. I like that they gave you com sets for the noisy production line. This vid resulted in me giving Hornady more trust and respect.
Just because they can does not mean they do as the shelves are still empty and prices keep getting higher and they keep getting new equipment so they can do it cheaper and make a higher profit. Or is it because your tax dollars are buying it all and were shipping it to another country? When you see it in the news just to find out it is a 20 year conflict and we have sent billions in aid. Better get another job uncle Sam needs the support and your past time will be under supplied for a nother decade
So my question is how many primers they had on hand after their “primer factor” blew up and killed a woman and OSHA has said imaginary factory shut down for six months while they investigate
Hornady would be the last product I would buy! That is because the last box of ammo I bought was stamp PPU, not Hornady!! Previ partisan was the ammo in the box. Have a nice day

Thank-you Chris
Is Hornaday one of the Ammo companys that I hear got sold to a " Foreign" Entity? Will their production focus on The Civilian, Sporting Market???
No that was Federal, CCi, and others. I have not heard of Hornady on the list. Jarred, from Guns&Gadgets did a video on this subject.
Wow what a place. Great vid Chris
Glad you enjoyed it
I'd like to see 6ARC brass for us poor mortals who picked up the cartage but can't find any brass for it.
Lmao, Hornady is the worst bullet out there 😂😂😂
I have to say, in my experience, Hornady bullets shoot particularly well in Ruger barrels...
I reload and with my own experience I find Hornady bullets are the best 👍
Great stuff,,now could you make primers.??
nice tour thanks for that
So my question is how many primers they had on hand after their “primer factor” blew up and killed a woman and OSHA has said imaginary factory shut down for six months while they investigate
Hornady would be the last product I would buy! That is because the last box of ammo I bought was stamp PPU, not Hornady!! Previ partisan was the ammo in the box. Have a nice day
Good to see MOOSE in the warehouse shots.
It speaks volumes about the workplace and people there when you can have dogs at work.
Nebraska baby 🤟
Keep up the GOOD WORK; you make great ammo!
You think they test employees for lead.
They stock pile till price is good . They are all out to make money
Don’t like it? Don’t support it.
Seems like there is a better cheaper way to make the bullets.
So they updated their equipment and paid pennies on the dollar for it which increased production numbers and cut manufacturing cost but increase prices for the customer.
