I bought this watch for $2,950 back in Jan 1999. It’s been serviced once in 2013 and I sent it in again last month because it is running slow on my wrist, the watch winder and dial up. They did not change the dial away from tritium in 2013 when it was serviced. This time around, the Service Center told me they were going to send the watch back to Switzerland for service which is a surprise. I’m wondering if this has something to do with the tritium dial. We will see in May when I get the watch back.
@@CaptChaos1964 Amazing timing! I got the call yesterday morning that the watch was ready. I went to pick it up but the dial seems slightly misaligned. Instead of the minute hand pointing at the middle of the 12 hour marker on the bezel, it points more toward the 1 vs the middle of 12. I asked the sales folks about this and they said if you were not happy they would send it back for verification. Since I had a new dial and hands put on the watch in addition to the service, I had them send it back for clarification. I hope I wasn’t being too picky but the dial looked slightly off. Considering this may be the last service in my life time, I wanted to get it right. I will say that it it looked amazing polished. However It should be because the service alone was $1,000!
@@TRUYORK718 I have had my watch for over a year now. The dial and hands light up at night now. You need to be an expert on this model to know that the dial has been replaced. I have never seen someone else with this model and will be very happy for the next 20 years.
THANK YOU for this vid -- love your self-deprecating humor and candid review. I *just* bought a Single Swiss Polar with original box & papers. Initially, I thought of it as an investment, but love it so much it would be hard to part with! The price difference from 1999 is astounding. Paid > 10K because I love the history, simplicity, and unique white dial. It's not pretentious, but like a secret gem on my wrist that quite possibly only I know is there - which I love! Extremely comfortable to wear because of the tapered band, and I think the dimensions are absolutely the perfect. It wears more like a 39 mm, is solid and heavy, but not overpowering to where I'm lifting weights when I raise my arm. (LOL) I've read where some people don't like the hollow links at the lugs or the wiggly hands, but that doesn't bother me at all. It just tells me it's an original, and the jumping hour hand is the coolest thing ever! Thank you again!
So interesting that the white gold hands and surrounds are enameled, I always wondered how they were done. Thank you Cam for another brilliant video 👌🏻
mmf115 imo the pre-ceramic have more character. I’m not a fan of the shiny ceramic bezels , wide lugs that make the watch look overbearing on a leather/nato strap, and I don’t like the engraved rehault.
sdm107 agree on all aspects of what you just said as well. The 97200 with glidelock is tough to beat. Dream watch would be a 16710 pepsi with a 97200 bracelet
ohhh gurlllllll i love me a glide lock too... honestly it is a work of art. I'm with you for sure seriously best bracelet ever produced by Rolex IMO.. glad you enjoyed the video!! thanks for the love and support!!
Deos anyone know what would happen if you take a tritium polar dial 16570 to Rolex for a service?? Would they relume the markers or léave them as they are???
Yes Yes Yes... I know I know.. and I agree with you on the Daytona front.. but sport to me means adventure, diving, racing etc.. something that has complications built for the purpose it was intended for.. is an air-king and or a Milgauss really a sports reference in the traditional sense though...

Have you received your watch back from Rolex? If so, how was it?

glad you liked it!!! they are awesome watches and are for sure going to retain value!
You have the best intro of any Rolex/watch channel...
So interesting that the white gold hands and surrounds are enameled, I always wondered how they were done.
Thank you Cam for another brilliant video 👌🏻
Crazy right but its so cool!! of course my dude glad you enjoyed it!
Sharp looking Explorer II. Appreciate your perspective on this professional piece.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love this channel
Great video and a great watch!
I’m hearing very versatile w/ remarkable value - thank you!!
Love the Explorer II but then again I love virtually every Rolex sports watch!!! Still is a good value watch.
Keep it up, Cam & team!
what do you think about tritium vs luminova versions? If buying one today which would you go fo?
Thanks for doing this one. Great watch. Great value (right now). I have a black dial 16570. Love it.
Got you #watchfam!!! digg the black dials too.. great watches no doubt about it!!
While the video was out of focus, the content was great.
Picked this watch up 6 months ago. Love it but , coming from a 114060, I miss the glidelock. One negative about 5 digit bracelets.

I have a glidelock bracelet on my 16570. It is the best of both worlds.
My first Rolex, got it for $3k in 1994 or 95, still love it.
They are classics for sure! Glad you liked the video! thanks for the love and support!
Do you think the wobble on the 3185 hour hand is a good thing? I know the Explorer IIs with the 3186 movement get a higher premium.
Yeah i actually like it and doesn’t bother me all that much
Have you seen the prices on these lately (Jan 2022)? Not undervalued anymore.
"Creeping up in value" on April 9, 2020. On April 10, 2020 they all spike and now you can't find them for less than 10k.
Another great video brother!
luv ya dawg! thanks for da love!

Love you too man :-)
😍😍😍😍
Good video, but this piece is definitely water resistant! I've been diving in mine!
Yep should have a 200m water resistance rating with a twinlock crown
@@craftandtailored all the same, good content. Just seemed to stumble over your channel. Now subscribed
Thanks, love this watch ❤
Glad you liked it!! They are indeed great watches!!
Niceeee 👍
Glad you digg!
Great watch but also consider white face Rolex milgauss
I have same watch i want to sell
My dream watch! :)
White Dial sports watch rolex:
Daytona
Milgauss
Airking

Craft & Tailored will airking or milgauss be good collectibles in future?
Pause
the 16570 is the successor not the predecessor to the 16550. so try to be that guy!
Wrong Mate! The Rolex Daytona is another white faced Rolex.
Arguably the worst looking Rolex model... only second to the modern Air King.
