I make my own immersion chiller for my beer brewing. It's fairly easy now, and I'm sure I'll be making many more coils for various things in the future. I bought the coil from Amazon.com, and the tubing bender was from Home Depot. The only other thing you need is some sort of cylindricalish form to form your tubing around.

I took the simple ape approach to making my immersion chiller. I filled my tube with water and placed it in the freezer. The next day I just grabbed a random tube ( 8" in this case) and proceeded to bend it around the tube with no problem and no kinks. After I was satified with the shape and placement, I then proceeded to ziptie each go-around. Frome there after a nice alignment I proceeded to tighten each one and cut off the excess.

This seems more complicated that it should be but thanks for the design

After re-examining your video, you are correct, I did not see any markings on the coiled tubing. I only see the ink markings on the Amazon display for the straight tubes. I went ahead and ordered the item and thanks to your response I can verify that I purchased the same product you used. I am expecting to receive the tubing on Tuesday. Thanks again, You are greatly appreciated!!!

Drill pump was a major key for me, thank you! Didn’t even know they existed!! And for $14??? You’ve got to be shitting me, homebrew store sells some pumps that are almost $300!!!! Ridiculous. Anyways thanks for the great video

I actually really enjoyed the production value of this video. I also didn’t even know you you get a pump for a drill. I will most likely be doing all of this extremely similar to yours.

I was looking for ways to keep the coils apart to increase surface area,. In doing so this is better than most ones available commercially. It’s a bit strange hearing people use the imperial measurements though. Cheers

Would the wort chill faster going through the coil in ice water then running tap water through hot wort?

Me podría orientar ?

Mike, How are you connecting the washer/garden hose section to the infeed of the coil? I can see the flex tubing at the discharge is just squeezed over the copper, but I can't see the infeed.
    Thanks again.

It's half of a washing machine hose shoved over the end of the copper tube

With the hot outlet tube in such close contact with the cold inlet, I wonder if you are losing some efficiency (heating the cold inlet before it even gets into the wort)?
All in all great build though! Thanks for sharing the design!

Definitely he is losing some. Nothing that more ice cubes couldn’t cure though

Like a few others have said, it was pretty math intense there for a bit. If it works though 👍

Mike, I'm looking to buy the tubing online as you mentioned, but the tubing I see has markings on it/ Obviously, I don't want that in my wort. In your video I did not see these marking on your tubing. Please comment. Thanks.

Hey Thomas! Here's the Amazon stock number for the tubing I bought. B00S04F8Z0 Their stock image does show markings on those 4 tubes, but I certainly don't remember any markings on my tubes. It might have had markings, but I didn't notice anything bad in the beer if it did. There aren't markings on there now. Thanks for watching!

I'm pretty sure all that math was completely unnecessary. Just bend the pipe around a form use the tubing bender for the 90's and your done it doesn't have to be perfect.

Wayyyyyyy toooooooo much math for wrapping a copper tube in a circle.
