The Sterners were not eating her birds, they were eating chicken, which reminded Beverley of her birds which they deprived her of watching her birds with the emergency dentist call. And announcing her as a murder suspect on the radio before arresting her is ridiculous
Yep she is just making an association... since it was that man's "dental emergency" that kept Kathleen & her husband from going bird watching. And now he is eating a bird. Not a sore tooth in sight. Too much for Serial Mom to take.
This has to be one of my favorite films. Lmao every time. A very young Ricky Lake. If you like this one I think you would love Cry Baby. It was back in 90. So awesome
19:52 Roald Dahl did that in one of his adult short stories, 'Lamb to the Slaughter'. Except that it was a fully frozen leg of lamb straight from the freezer that the 6 month pregnant housewife only needed to swing once to kill her husband after he told her he was leaving her. Then she ended up cooking it and served it to the detectives and policemen who came to examine the crime scene - they were talking about what kind of weapon they need to be looking for as they were eating it, said it must be a heavy blunt object with a handle to get that kind of swing in.
John Waters was the "King of Trash".. as in "trashy" movies. His early movies like Pink Flamingos and Female Trouble were cheap, dark, weird, hilarious.. and occasionally revolting. It was sorta the movie version of "punk rock"..cheap, fast, and built to shock. But by the time Serial Mom came out he was more mainstream. He did a movie called Hairspray in the 80s that was his first big mainstream hit. They were still subversive but less.. gross. This movie kinda follows that method.
I just want to say I really enjoyed this video. I thought some of your comments and reactions were hysterical. You really had me laughing besides the movie. When Serial Mom came out in the movies I saw it about 5 or 6 times with different friends. Laughed every time. I think John Waters is one of the funniest people on the planet earth. Some of the stories he tells about his life when he is being interviewed are hysterical, boy would I love to hang with him for a day. Also want to say you have a great sense of humor. Keep doing what your doing and great ink work on your arms!!!👍🤘👍
Thank you 🙏🏽 I love this movie. I would’ve loved this in theaters. Yes John Waters sense of humor Gets me every time. Thank you for the compliment I enjoy doing this very much.
I have a video that Mink Stole (the actress who played Dottie Hinkle) recorded for my 80-something-year-old father on Cameo website. She is a national treasure.
This was one of my favorite horror movies as a child lol. The perfect mix of comedy and horror. And side note I didn’t know she was the voice of Jessica Rabbit. I like her even more
LOL this is the most hysterical black comedy I saw 😂 The way she's so polite to the jury when she walks in and even compliments someone's jacket... Then the bodycount fingers count... Kathleen is awesome in this 🤞
I could have sworn I've heard John Waters talk about writing the real life Beverly (although a didn't name)... but I'm having touble finding co-operating evidence.
Sometimes I still think my favourite line int his movie is the 'Serial Hags' segment: "But your boyfriend was convicted for killing 12 people!" "I don't judge him." "I just don't understand it. How can you love a mass murderer?" "It's easy. He's handsome, he's famous, and we get conjugal visits."
I made my mom watch this movie and she thought that it was hilarious, especially when she killed the lady for wearing white after Labor Day. Also, that woman wearing white is Patricia Hearst, who was kidnapped in the 1970's and brainwashed into robbing a bank, so it was also very funny to see her in that.
Yes Tracy Lord's was in a few of John Waters movies. I thought it was great of him to hire her. She stopped doing porn and was auditioning for movie parts. I believe she got some parts here & there but Hollywood was being really hard on her for doing porn. The nerve of all those child molesters in Hollywood judging her. So Water's gave Tracy a role in about 3 or 4 of his movies.
I never understand the son’s girlfriend. One minute she’s saying how cool it is that she’s a killer and then she’s crying cuz she saw blood? Girl what? 🤷🏼♀️
Thank you so much for the support. I love this movie the dark humor and the satire is on full blast. Yes she definitely is I wouldn’t want to be on her bad side
Well the good news is she won't actually kill her family, and even though she didn't approve of her sons best friend Scotty I think she does approve of her son's girlfriend Birdie so she should be safe. I think she might like Misty's new reporter boyfriend - he has a steady job and he seems to genuinely like Misty.
This was my first John Waters movie plus I had no idea about his work. After this, I watched Cry-Baby Cecil B Demented, Hairspray and finally Pink Flamingoes-which has its own fan-base, but it's not owner's material .....for me. I was in my early teens when I first watched this with different family and friends. I'd seen some horror flicks-non quite like Blood Feast) but I'd never seen a movie labeled ' comedy' with a body count or some of the carnage, so I was woefully unprepared for this. My mom didn't get past the obscene call scene before walking out of the room. Watching the Sterners relish in that dinner scene was gross, I didn't like that couple/ potential victims, but the scissors murder was pretty brutal and I felt John should've pulled back a little before showing her fall to the floor. Other that that, she's easy to root for, serial killer or not, and most of her 'victims' aren't very likable, so you really don't care when they get theirs. Using the leg of lamb on Ms. Jenson while watching/ singing 'Annie' was pretty funny and clever, esp how she followed the song's beat while bludgeoning her to death! Plus, is it just me, or did she enjoy doing this murder a little too much? I mean, between her expressions and everything, tell me I'm not the only one who noticed this. This is clearly a wicked satire on society and classic sitcom 'mother' figures. I've owned it on VHS and disc, so obviously I'm part of the fan base, but It amazes me how many like it that I sure wouldn't have expected, and fiction or not, it was ahead of its time, w/ the cultures obsession with true crime. One funny thing, for awhile after first seeing it, when I mentioned the title, some thought I was referring to the breakfast cereal, saying they kill cereal whenever they ate it! The first few times it was funny, but eventually I just explained the difference between the 2 terms. This comments getting too long so I'll stop here, happy viewing folks! Feast
That killing scene in the restroom that wasn't He's Lungs that was his liver But I love this movie too serial mom cereal mom such a catch phrase cause she hates Cherios🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
I adore Kathleen Turner. That voice is iconic! She's so good in this. Such a weird movie, but that's what you get from John Waters.
Having Patty Hearst, as the juror who is wearing white shoes after Labor Day, was the icing on this beautiful cake.
Finally! Someone reacts to this movie. LOL! Such a classic.
Right I had been looking for a while and couldn’t find anything. It’s such a classic more folks should give it a chance
The Sterners were not eating her birds, they were eating chicken, which reminded Beverley of her birds which they deprived her of watching her birds with the emergency dentist call. And announcing her as a murder suspect on the radio before arresting her is ridiculous
Thank you for that lol I was thought eating wild birds was a weird choice.
Probably not the same birds, but that's where her mind went.
Yes I think them catching and eat the wild birds would be a bit much
Yep she is just making an association... since it was that man's "dental emergency" that kept Kathleen & her husband from going bird watching. And now he is eating a bird. Not a sore tooth in sight.

What that is incredible. I have seen the larger legs and i do believe there would be enough to end someone but dang its still so shocking to me
I read that short story back in high school. It always left an impression on me.
There was an Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode based on that story, it starred Barbara Bel Geddes.

Pink Flamingoes scarred me for life. But I'd watch it again. 🤣

I actually saw this in the theaters when it first came out. Actually I think I saw it twice in the theaters.
This was one of my favorite horror movies as a child lol. The perfect mix of comedy and horror. And side note I didn’t know she was the voice of Jessica Rabbit. I like her even more
My wife was an extra in the big crowd at the end. It’s a John Waters movie filmed in Baltimore MD.
LOL this is the most hysterical black comedy I saw 😂 The way she's so polite to the jury when she walks in and even compliments someone's jacket... Then the bodycount fingers count... Kathleen is awesome in this 🤞
The part makes me laugh so hard she’s just so nonchalant and oblivious but brilliantly ahead of everyone else
The bit where she swears at Mink Stole and nobody in the courtroom notices even though she is standing in the middle of the courtroom
I could have sworn I've heard John Waters talk about writing the real life Beverly (although a didn't name)... but I'm having touble finding co-operating evidence.
Loved this reaction. One of my favorite movies. Definitely subscribing
“For someone who doesn’t wear their seat belt, Scottie is sure nosy” lol 😂😊@14:03
My first rated R movie aha. My older sister rented it from the library and made me promise not to tell our parents.
Well she threw you straight into the fire didn’t she. 😂😂😂😂

That part gets me every time. Her face is so earnest like yes i said what i said lol
this movie is so iconic and still has that john waters shock to it, i live
Great on point reaction
I love this movie, especially the courtroom scenes
Yo I laughed during your entire reaction LOL.. Thank you for that I was having a bad day at the office.
I’m glad I could help lift your spirits. I get a good laugh with this movie every time
I just finished watching it and found your channel. Keep up the great work! New subbie ☺️
Thats perfect lol thank you for the sub and the compliment.
i watched this with my mom when I was a kid. We always died laughing
I love this movie as I do all John Waters' films. I always had a crush on Scotty.
Lol this movie is funny as hell. \m/

What she was kidnapped thats an incredible story. This is one of my moms favorite movies. The white shoes always got her too
love the movie never could stop giggeling the whole time
This movie is pure comedy. It gets me every time
This is my favorite movie ever!
❤❤❤❤❤ Love Kathleen love serial mom!! Love you !! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
This was probably the movie that got Mathew Lillard into the first #Scream movie
Rosemary is the voice of Mrs Puff.
What that’s a dope fun fact thank you
I noticed that and every time she talked about killing her I was like "NOT MRS PUFF!"
12:37 is that tracy lords?
Yes
@@lalalalalalwlla thank you 👍🏼

I think this movie does a good job of addressing a serious problem. More people should be aware that you shouldn’t wear white after Labor Day.
The camel toes lmao 🤣

Awesome movie to react to. Lots of great dark humor here. Kathleen Turner is scary!
Thank you so much for the support. I love this movie the dark humor and the satire is on full blast. Yes she definitely is I wouldn’t want to be on her bad side
