    Crown heights rent was $800 for a 3 bedroom in 2000, 20 years later the same apartment rents for $3500. These landlords are out of their mind. If people would just stop moving there and paying these ridiculous prices they might actually drop to a more respectable level.

    • @jsmith5509
      @jsmith5509 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @Man Hood, yet people pay the prices! A studio at PLG 123 Linden Blvd is going for $2500 - $2800. One bedrooms are from $2700 -$3000. This new building is quickly filling up even with those prices. The landlords are able to ask those prices because MANY people are ready, willing and able to pay them. Trust and believe, that building has 467 apartments and they will soon be filled.

    There’s a lot more that goes into rent than just the size of the bathroom or bedroom. There’s the location of the building, the security, if there’s an elevator, laundry in the basement, bike storage, a gym, etc. This is a really good deal for the space. I’d be interested to know the features of the building.

    • @carnival30

      Dezh22 you just said there’s a lot more that goes into the rent than just the apartment. One of them being the location of the building. I don’t know if you’re a New Yorker but this neighborhood is dangerous. I live in Crown Heights. It’s not a good neighborhood the police has to be here constantly. This price is horrible for what they’re getting the landlord saw they were out of towners. He saw them from a mile away.

    For people wanting to live in nyc: there are affordable places you just need to know where to search! I’m born and raised in nyc and currently reside in queens in a 1,800 3 bedroom apartment with kitchen bathroom and living room. It’s in the safest place in queens and 30 minutes from the city. If you move here don’t go straight to the most common places. Do research, prioritize safety within an area first, then cost, transportation and proximity to the city. Good luck!

      As someone born and raised in NYC, I find this comment very unrealistic. Even in the most dangerous parts of the Bronx, you can’t touch the smallest space under $2,000. If it’s the city, it’s all gold now! This is not 20 years ago.

    • @an.ticristo
      @an.ticristo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheSniffyBunny ?? I’ve lived all my life in different parts of the borough for under 2,000 and currently reside in flushing, queens for 1,800. It’s possible once you do research, make connections and branch out of Brooklyn and manhattan. It sounds unrealistic but it’s true. Bayside, Whitestone, corona, Jackson heights, Astoria, college point, Francis Lewis are all places in queens that are safe or safe-ish with decent transportation (30-1 hour to Manhattan thru mta. 40 min or less thru car.) that usually charge under or around 2,000 for a full one or two bedroom apartment. I got lucky with my place but that’s why I said it’s important to do research instead of assuming everything’ll be automatically 2,000+.

      @northern_lights sorry my bad. I will get more info and watch more of these videos. The thing that I cannot stand is mostly the attitude of landlords who tend to take advantage of the fact that students are desperate for a room and are willing to pay a lot due to the high competition. I was in this situation three times and got scammed once. Landlords here are bastards, ready to suck all the money from young innocent people. And not here only.

    It’s ridiculous how many people here are saying this price is a steal because “it’s in New York.” You all must be from the Midwest or elsewhere. I live in their neighborhood. It is a bad neighborhood and it’s dangerous. The cops have vans parked everywhere with cameras to try to keep down the crime. Recently a man got shot over a fight in broad daylight in the street. These landlords see if these out of town people who don’t have a clue about the price of New York and hike up the rent. And don’t come for me asking “how do I know they’re out of towners?” I’m a New Yorker. We can spot you guys from a mile away.

    For a two bedroom in Crown Heights with no renovations it is entirely too much but thank God you converted it into a 3 bedroom. I lived in a converted 2 bedroom in crown heights and we paid $1100 in total. I gotta say you ladies are lucky to also have a living room. Most apartments in Crown Heights have dining rooms which i find bizarre.

    Honestly I feel like that price for NYC is a steal. When I was in college I was paying 600 to share a bedroom in a apartment in my college town. I paid for my own college and was working part time verses them having full time job with a wage kinda adjusted for NYC cost of living.
