The whole point of this series is to see what prices and places look like across the country. Whoever came up with this idea is a genius.

Foxy Jai that’s true. they’ve done a few in other places but I think there’s a real shock factor when seeing the rents for NYC and LA.
I believe Refinery29 also has offices in those locations so it might be cheaper.
I would love it if they did some random small city in upstate NY or something.

If I'm not mistaken R29 is NY-based so from a production cost perspective it makes sense that most of the episodes are in NYC, with some New Jersey, LA, Texas exceptions. I still enjoy the variety of spaces and neighborhoods covered. I mean, there is House Hunters if people want to see more of a variety of geographical locations and their associated costs...
She has a mix of British, Californian, Canadian and French accents... with Goya and Tajin products in the background

Yea Refinery29 I am So happy to see a video!!! What a gorgeous home!! I love the tile work in the kitchen and bathroom. All the natural light is a must. Yes ridiculous. I was paying 960 for a one bedroom studio with full bath & kitchen but it’s insane because you get a better deal in other states. I’m posting a video of my place soon.

W , I have some friends still living in the area. Unfortunately, LA and surrounding areas are not at all like they once were. In fact, much of California no longer is, with its downward spiral beginning not all that long ago. Sorry to hear that it was the mistake that it was for you.

Where in NYC? That's like impossible. I live in a not so decent area of the bronx and pay 1450 for a one bedroom with kitchen and bathroom.

I visit New York. I couldn't pay that to rent. That's just me. That payment goes to a house.
Its crazy how expensive Brooklyn has gotten. $3,750 a few years back would have been unheard of there. Crown heights and other parts are next.
Rename this video "What $2400 will get you in NYC." She has 2 other roommates, but the video only shows her space with one of the roommates. And they each only pay $1,200 (see 0:15). So no, it's NOT Outrageous rent for NYC. She's not a local, she went through a roommate service, and her apt is furnished, so she's actually getting a deal here. Another video Refinery29 put up showed a girl with more roommates and the full layout of the apt.
Fyi in outer boroughs (and even Manhattan), you can find places where you will individually pay $850 to $1700 with a roommate or two. Depends how/where you look, if utilities are included, and if there's other amenities. It's about the hustle if you want something affordable between greedy landlords and the tens of thousands of inbound hoards competing with more savvy locals.

Rayan I ريان depends where. Texas main cities are still pretty expensive, especially Dallas and Austin. Also, no offense to the country or suburban parts of Texas, but most young people don’t want to live there because it’s boring, and very racist and conservative.
