- Netflix done did it again; they put out a brand new action cartoon while no one was looking and did nothing to promote it. It's not without its issues, but does it really deserve the same fate as many other Netflix cartoons? Why are we seemingly stuck in this time loop?
NOTE: This video contains spoilers for episodes 1-5 (with some additional video footage from episodes 6 & 7). I can't really review this without spoiling stuff, but I tried keeping it all within the first couple of story arcs.

I'm still salty that we didn't get more shows from the She Ra/Kipo teams, genuinely some of the freshest animation of their time.
Some people that worked on those shows would move onto create their own shows. For example, She Ra story editor Josie Campbell returned to Warner Brothers Animation to help develop My Adventures With Superman. In a similar vein, Kipo story editors Joanna Lewis & Kristine Songco were executive producers on another DreamWorks show, Fright Krewe (one of the few original DreamWorks shows, which you can find on Hulu and Peacock).
Ya was sad that I can't watch kipo since it's on a different package.
I think the stream service model is completely detrimental to these shows. If we went back 15 years, some of the shows you mentioned, could've potentially grown over time and gotten several more seasons, but not in today's world.
The mythology is also not quite right to me...they say she has the powers of the yellow emperor when they would be more appropriate if they were from Ne Zha, who is a deity associated with fire and whose character is more about fighting one's fate and defying authority. Ne Zha is also more associated with natural disasters, as when he fought the dragon king to save his village, they came back with a vengeance and brought natural disasters upon the town.
I thought the same thing you did because of the flaming wheels Gugu gives her!
If they have a second season, they should justify why she is associated with the yellow emperor. We know why she is in a plot sense but we need a thematic connection.
Its good to see you diversifying here, knowing the *MASSIVE* amount of experience you have with animated projects the insight that you bring feels like it hits closer. The mention of why the producers JC vs U may have rushed through the series was particularly interesting. Kudos!

I think this is how animation is going to be one Netflix now a days. If you want to tell a complete story then you’re going to have to cram it into 8 episodes. But if you want to tell more stories in this world then you have to beg Netflix for 12-13 episodes or an extra long finale
1. At 4:43 in this interview, series creator Echo Wu said how she originally created the show with 10 episodes in mind , but Netflix gave her an extra 3 episodes.

2. The lack of promotion is more a streaming thing in general, not just a Netflix thing. For example, many people think Apple TV is only preschool shows and episodic shows. They have serialized shows like Wondla and Curses, but they're barely promoted.
I LOVE JENTRY CHAU!!!! BUT I AGREE ABOUT THE BREAKNECK PACING. But the writing really kicks in at about episode 6. The pacing does not slow down, but the writing improves to compensate for that, causing my favorite episodes to be fifteen finger discount and good intentions. But my love for the series might be for my ability to not care about fast pacing. One of my favorite shows is MURDER DRONES. It has four season of plot stuffed into 8 episodes. And it's an INDIE SHOW. My final thoughts is that is a great show, though very, VERY fast.
The problem is advertisement. All ads I see are VPNs, food delivery service and grooming gadget. It's like streaming and gaming companies want to do Nintendo Directs, but fail to grasp that only very hardcore enthousiast are subcribed to companies youtube/twitter posts. Posting about it themselves is not a serious marketing budget. In Canada radio/tv ads often show Crave, but the ads always focus on House of Dragons like it's their only show. They all need to make a new add every month, pay up and sponsor, and showcase the things they spent big money making or acquiring this month. What is the point otherwise?
I think i saw it in the upcoming stuff because i check on what new stuff coming in the new section. I also love that she call her aunt GuuGuu because i called my Grandma GooGoo. Made me happy&surprised that someone else have even if cartoon character having a GooGoo.
I still gotta finish this show. I got 2/3rds through and then got very busy very quickly.
blood of zeus got another season? damn it feels like forever since season 1
Blood of Zeus ends with season 3.
I am so sad Dead End never got a proper end
I saw a graphic novel today, dead end isnt dead :D
This show just didn't work for me. the first two episodes were too hit or miss (mostly miss) in terms of comedy and just... plot really. don't know if it was the pacing or just the plot points themselves, but it felt like someone was "and then and then and then"-ing through the story
This is how I exactly felt watching, although I did like the comedy sometimes, although I didn't laugh
I literally watched this show because I saw this video on my recommend page and wanted to fully understand what you might say and man was this show lowkey frustrating to go through, but hey, I can at least say it wasn’t a boring watch
I will literally never get over how inside job and paranormal dead end park had banger ratings, got approved for another season then CANCELLED without warning
Give me back my favourite shows netflix T_T
Oooo more animation review, please!
I really enjoyed jentry chau vs the underworld, even tho i wished we spent more time w the characters cause the moment they revealed
SPOILERS BTW!!
that kit was a demon i was just ,,the basic anime boy was a demon??!! What??!!" Seeing the dude ive only saw in a few episodes being revealed to be a soulless demon was very underwhelming since i didnt know him that well. The same goes for the ghosts living in gogos house cause i didn't even knew their names & i really wanted to get to know them more!!
I was also pissed at the fact that they only ever posted one trailer for the advertisement & then dropped the WHOLE show immediately! I really thought that since dungeons meshi that they upload a episode once a week so it can gather more ppl but ig they only do that for the animes...
Yeah, for me the pacing is too quick maybe if it was split into multiple seasons or 24 episodes
i really loved Mech Cadets. It was just fun :)
No mention of Carol and the End of the World? That hurts.
ABSOLUTE TRUE! Carol impressed me so much, real masterpiece😔😔
What about Trese? I just finished watching it and I was like Netflix, YOU COWARD! Gimme more, dammit! I friggin' loved Jentry Chau! Netflix!!! Don't get me started on the dark crystal debacle! I'm still mad about it.
Gotta watch Trese still!
To be honest shows being more fast paced is not a problem since before the streaming era shows were made to be views without seeing other episodes for context with ended up making many shows to be veery slow in favor of getting more seasons, which many ended up suffering from it, I dont want to be stuck with a show for 10 years just because if the show could have been made in 5 years. This is why Gravity Falls or Amphibia are perfect in my opinion, both could perfect gone for many more seasons and yet it was short and mostly to the point. So anyways I really liked Jentry Chau, if we end up with one more season resolving some of the plot holes great, if not Im fine with what we got
This show seems more with the TV shows I would see airing during my childhood in the 2010s, but sprinkled with current references and pop culture too. Not saying this is a bad or good thing, just something I had a really strong feeling of
Yo ACCA 13 was my favorite anime for years
Id love to see that video
The show has so much potential, but for me it just didn’t get enough time and care to make it work. I love the style and the premise, but I rly didn’t enjoy watching it. Maybe I’ll finish it but idk, it feels so pointless, bc everything in the show feels pointless too
1:24 It aint gonna suck itself
I wanted to like this show, but holy shit it was so aggravating how nothing was allowed to settle. 5 minutes to do this thing 5 minutes for that, like slow down it's not a marathon. I really wanted to like the characters too but man it was hard. Like some of the choices and actions of some of them did seemed so off and weird. Also, GET RID OF THE MASCOT. HE WAS SO ANNOYING AND ADDED BASICALLY NOTHING TO THE PLOT. Overall, this could have been a great show, but yet again Netflix murdered it. 💀
Nothing flawed about it, it was glorious.
W video
This sucks and animation is going downhill
How?
