I'm glad to see that someone in the Singapore Police Force has realized how incompetent and hopeless the police were at the Little India riots. It was embarrassing and humiliating to say the least. I hope this is the start of a better trained police force with less emphasis on simply "paper qualifications" and talk and more on truly capable personnel who are able of making hard, well balanced decisions in dangerous and challenging situations. Keep up the good work.
The answer is to remove locals becoming police force. Recruit American cops to be with our SPF and also adopts the US police style action.

Rubbish, you do realise that the riot didn't stop magically; it was the police that quelled it. It may have taken a bit too long, but it ended anyway. I defy you to find police around the world that don't make (worse) mistakes during crises. Bear in mind that these officers that so "humiliate" you are still on the streets every day risking their asses to make sure unappreciative bums like you can rest easy.
Only reason it took so long for soc to come was due to traffic, sporean so kepoh wanna see everything. Police officers on scene could have used their revolvers to shoot at the rioters but they did not, spf protect and save lives not destroy them, we actually did a good job for that riot. It could have been much worse. Paper qualifications? What are yiu talking about bro, go check your brain

I don’t care if you’re in basic training for the military, training for SWAT, or training for the Navy Seals. Gas chamber training is scary! I’m not afraid to say that I was scared doing training in a gas chamber. You should be afraid doing that type of training. So there’s no shame is admitting your fear in training like that. However, it’s very important to learn. So you have to conquer your fears, and just get it done with.

The training is only benefits the idea. But real situation can they handle.Look Singaporean won’t riot only the foreign just like little India case SPF can’t handle is a shame spent so much money on it get bully by foreigners.SPF should simulate real situation for training use outside people not using internal people.
That was in 2013, the SPF has invested in more training and are more prepared now, I guarantee you. The best way to deal with a riot is to stop it from happening in the first place.
I hope HK police can learn from here...
