I can't adequately describe how proud we all are of Kerri Eaker Higdon for being strong enough to broadcast Last Call for Officer Jay Mayfield. It had to be one of the hardest things she's ever done, but she did it with love, with dignity and with true respect for Jay.

Deputy Mayfield was a very good man and I had the opportunity to meet him personally back in 2012. Thank you, Sir. May God hold you nearby until that great reunion when you see your beloved family again in Heaven.

Yeah it's incredibly difficult too when a member of public safety who saves a family member gets killed in LOD like what happened with an EMS worker who helped my dad when he was close to death , a few months after helping him she got killed by a out of control dump truck during winter a few years ago, it crushed her against a tree.

This is one thing that dispatchers have a love/hate thing for.
They do it for the love of the job and respect for the deputy or police officer, and hate it because it's the hardest thing to do.
When we lose one of our own, we lose a family member. That goes for the K9s as well as for any member of the department.

None of us know when our last day will be that's why every single one of us better know Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour. Just saying you know him is not enough.
