    Took me twenty years but I finally respect Kobe Bryant-- not because I doubted his talent-- I just didn't want to acknowledge that his greatness was the closest to MJs than any other player I've seen. I acknowledge it now. #salute

      Same, grew up in chicago watched him win 6, literally the first game i saw kobe in, i think some 97'game, well ot wasnt even a game it was like some sport channel showing a clip of kobe, i was paranoid of kobe right then, kobe is insane, kobe and michael are the 2 best players to ever play basketball. It's was so obvious to me back then thinking about it now, and its crazy to see what hes done, hes done amazing great things and all things considered, era's,stats,teams,conferences,play off and finals competition of the time, individual accolades, all of that stuff- kobe and mj are on the same level in my book now. Same guy.

      Kobe was not the most skilled player. You can't be the most skilled if you borrow your skill set from someone else. Jordan's fadeaway, Jordan in the low post, Jordan's stop and pop, Jordan going to the hole, Jordan's reverse layup and Jordan's midrange game were all borrowed by Kobe and put into his game. Jordan is far more skilled than Kobe. I don't know where people get that from or if it's because they heard someone else say it but on this planet on this earth there is no way you could ever prove that Kobe's skill level could surpass Jordan's especially when Kobe blueprinted Michael's game!

  • @CyberMagik2077
    @CyberMagik2077 9 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Damn I guess this is the last time I'll watch this video while Kobe is still in the league. As I kid I used to hate kobe but now that I'm grown, he's not only my favorite player but the greatest of all time in my eyes. I only say that because I didn't grow up watching Jordan because I was born in 96 so I don't wanna hear anyone tell me why Jordan is better. Knowing that this is kobe's last season, I know that my childhood is completely over. This league will never be the same without you Kobe #legend

    • @genericallyaccepted
      @genericallyaccepted 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The differences between Michael and Kobe are there, but they're on the same level in terms of individual ability - they are the two greatest. To those who know, you can't go wrong with either.
      You didn't ask for it, but I'll tell you anyway lol. What sets Michael apart from Kobe is his athleticism - he's faster. Being faster allowed him to be a better defender and get to the rim easier. He could also jump higher and farther, too. Kobe has a good two-foot jump but his one-foot jump has nothing on MJ's. I would say they had the same mentality, Kobe might be a little more stubborn, but you could say his teammates didn't fight back enough. Their level of confidence is beyond any other athlete to ever play any sport But where Kobe excels is basically everything else - he has a better post game, better footwork, a better handle and even though the fg% will suggest otherwise, he also has a better shot.

    • @monojuice

    • @ohhhyeahhh1174
      @ohhhyeahhh1174 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tommy Cruz you forgot to mention kobe has a longer range shot then mj. But you are right. I was born in 78 and i think those two are pretty much equal but yes mj was abit faster and abit more athletic and of course his hands where massive. But other then that the same sucks that Kobe had to play in a era that was getting softer and softer. Him being very demanding messed up kobes possible chance for him to win 1 more title. But he couldn't be nicer and that's what happened.

      I’m late but KOBE has no where near as good Post game as MJ.

    to be honest and this is just me in my opinion. kobe and micheal had the best skills ever in nba history. but this is where it ends. Michael had the biggest hands for a 2 guard. he was able to palm the ball and make razzle dazzle passes and had a better release to his shot then kobe so the percentages where higher for Michael to make a bucket then kobe because he had smaller hands. now offensively kobe was better am not talking percentage wise and talking about how deep and difficult the shots went in. kobe was way better then Michael. if they go in there primes head to head it would be a toss up to be honest with. kobe in his prime was unstoppable every shot he took went in from 40 and still went in. with double triple teams. but if I would choose one it would be mike just because of the big hands that he has.

      Blueblur22 Mj's hands and athleticism did play a big roll in is shooting percentage, just ask phil jackson. Nobody "Likes" to take contested shots, but those were the only options available for kobe since his game was patented almost exactly off of MJ's. The only thing he was lacking was athleticism....and bigger hands.

    • @ohhhyeahhh1174
      @ohhhyeahhh1174 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Blueblur22 Everyone knows that if you had bigger hands you could make more thing gs with ball fakes creating space and had a softer release and had a better chance of making impossible layups because your palming the ball and grabbing it. unlike kobe he couldn't palm the ball so he had to relied on skill only. that's why his footwork was better then mjs. trust even Phil Jackson has said that in the comparison of both. they are the same in competitive nature but where it ends with them is the Mits mj had. go look at a Phil Jackson comparison on kobe and mike and he coached both of them.

Just the luckiest player of all time. When you shoot 38% for your career in game 7's vs shit teams .. you are shit Kobe. I don't know if he's in the top 100 to ever play the game. The greatest luck of all time for sure, and STILL can't do and achieve what others have.

    I tend to agree with this....style of play, offensive and defensive moveset, ability to score within team offense, basketball IQ, etc but it becomes a debate of aesthetics and nobody tends to agree; which is why I use stats to bolster those thoughts. it's also about how one leads his team to success among other things like records.

    Different eras, different players. Let em' be who they are. They will go down as the best players of their eras. Who cares? Learn to appreciate Kobe while he's playing though. Won't last forever, you gotta respect what both of them accomplished, nobody can do it all alone, just remember that. Kobe and Michael are two of a kind. We're not gonna see guys like them in any near future.

    Only when you're rooting for a team. When trying to catergorize an all-time great, it all matters, anything from general statistics, achievements and awards, to clutch moments in season and postseason. Rings are just a part of it. Sometimes management doesn't build around great players the way a franchise should. Thanks for adding alot to the debate.

    People always talk about how much pressure was on Lebron when he came into the league.. but no one talks about the pressure that Kobe was under and STILL is. He was literally thought to be the next MJ and though he may not reach the hights that Michael did he will undoubtedly be considered the second best SG of all time. Hes done pretty well for himself considering the shoes of who he was trying to fill.

    I think people need to stop saying "Stop comparing them!" But w are just trying to appreciate their talent. There will never be a clear answer to the LeBron v Kobe v Jordan. And i think all of us here know it, at least sub-consiously. The debate will go on forever, hopefully. Because i don't want these guys forgotten.
