I am a plant person! They are my zin! Love watching your videos! You crack me up! Love all the knowledge you share with us! Thanks for all the great ideas you give me! Wish I had all you energy!!!❤❤❤
Justin, love your videos! But man, I sure would love seeing some more garden tours of your friend’s yards! We saw one this season, but I’ve been patiently waiting to see more! Guess you got us spoiled with the ones we’ve seen in the past!! Thanks Justin!❤
Love your videos! You share so much useful information, and you are just fun to watch. I really appreciate this particular video because I have very heavy deer pressure in my yard. ( I should probably buy stock in Liquid Fence; I use so much.) Any plants I buy now, I buy thinking, “Will the deer eat this plant?” So far, they have not eaten tea olives, goshiki osmanthis, ligustrum and sunshine ligustrum. The deer have left my camellias and distillium alone as well. Pesky critters!
Hypericum Hidcote can grow pretty quickly and I've found it to be very deer resistant. It responds well to a hard March prune if it gets out of hand, and my Deer don't like it at all. I've had success with shrubby Potentilla too.
Thank you so much for this information. I'm learning just by watching your channel. 😂😂😂❤❤❤ Just love how you are so lively, you should go into comedy 😅😅😅😅
Lots of great examples you displayed. I planted an oak leaf hydrangea. The deer quickly found it and stripped it of all leaves. I learned the hard way, lol.
so gorgeous! Love evergreens. So sad that I live in a different state that I can't get to your garden center, but so glad I don't live nearby, because I'll be broke😂
Thank you! I have deer in the yard of my new home pretty much everyday. We're just started landscaping the yard, I've put out a few Nandina, lantana, camellia and deer haven't touched them. I planted 2 Gardenia's because I heard they were deer resistant but it looks like they've been nibbled on a little. You gave me some great ideas.
Thank you for your enthusiasm with plants it’s infectious!! Thanks to you I’ve implemented winter interest in my garden this summer with loropetulum and jazz hands as you suggested in one of your previous posts and I absolutely love this combination! Thank you
Dude you crack me up, thanks! When I first saw the title of your video, "Best Deer Resistant Shrubs" I thought it said, "Best BEER Resistant Shrubs" ! Now that is a video we need to see. I wish I could grow Loropetalum but I'm in zone 4. Keep the videos coming.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Seriousky this is the second video I’ve watched of yours and I’m hooked!!! You’re hilarious! And so informative and easy to learn from. Thank you for putting this out there for a “Becoming A Plant Person” as myself. Thank you!!
thank you so much for your videos about shrubs. So informative about zones ( we are zone 4b) , sun, shade, seasonal color, height, spread and plants that work well together . Keep them coming, love watching your videos and landscaping ideas! PS , you’re hilarious!
Hey Justin. This is why I love your channel. Your knowledge of plants is just incredible. I don’t have any deer pressure where I live but I grow some of the shrubs you’ve show cased. I need to get my hands on the bananapeel illicium or the rainbow leucothoe. They are stunning. 😍
I have deer and rabbit that are are a challenge but the Ground hog is whole lot of trouble. The ground hog eats conifers- any ideas about which trees to plant the ground hog will leave to grow?
@@staciejackson7497 Hey Stacie, Thank you for asking. We've been monotoring the situation closely and plan to proceed with the event at this time. Most of our area has power restored and our hope is that conditions continue to improve before the weekend. If anything changes we will keep everyone posted!
I agree with most of the shrubs on view as deer resistant, especially Box, Juniper and Barberry. However, I have found my Deer population to munch Pieris, Sedge Grass and Yucca. That being said, I intend to try planting Pieris and Salvia together in the one planting hole, which has worked before with borderline shrubs. Deer totally detest the entire Salvia family.
Our deer eat the Nandina! I planted 15 of them 3 years ago and they will not leave them alone especially in the Spring! They look like they are a 1 gallon plant:(
So Justin, can you talk about something other than shrubs that everybody is really into shrubs talk about flowers like hydrangeas or ponies or something along those lines? OK I’m just asking.
I wish you can help me help my Mother with her yard My Dad use to but he past …Mother is 94 years old so she needs something easy to manage. She lives in New Mexico USA
Deer went to town on my Abelia when I planted them. May be better once they grow? I have a Camelia that deer won't touch, but a friend planted a new one and they ate it up. Won't touch the native mountain laurels and rhododendron.
I am a plant person! They are my zin! Love watching your videos! You crack me up! Love all the knowledge you share with us! Thanks for all the great ideas you give me! Wish I had all you energy!!!❤❤❤
I second this ❤
Ditto! I look forward to your videos! 🫶🏼
I have a huge deer problem and Justin's picks are spot on from my experience.

Love seeing the plants on your channel. The information is very helpful.
Very informative...thanks for sharing your recommendations for deer resistant shrubs!
You helped me become a plant person! I landscaped the front of my house based on all of your suggestions. Thank you!
What shrubs have you had success growing that the deer don't eat? 🤔
Hypericum Hidcote can grow pretty quickly and I've found it to be very deer resistant. It responds well to a hard March prune if it gets out of hand, and my Deer don't like it at all. I've had success with shrubby Potentilla too.
Hi Justin love your videos so beautiful shrubs
Your energy...what a hoot ! Wish we lived closer, but some of these we might find here. Thks.again. 🌞

I can’t get over the beautiful variety of plants y’all carry, it’s a shame I live in Louisiana. Love your videos.
Lots of great examples you displayed. I planted an oak leaf hydrangea. The deer quickly found it and stripped it of all leaves. I learned the hard way, lol.
Same! I've had Hydrangeas in the past & deer never bothered them but not the ones I just planted. Came out to find all the leaves gone.
@tracytuten5116 which ones of yours did they eat, and which did they leave alone? Thanks
so gorgeous! Love evergreens. So sad that I live in a different state that I can't get to your garden center, but so glad I don't live nearby, because I'll be broke😂
Pretty good rundown. There’s some stuff in there that I didn’t know about.

Thank you! Love the energy. Wished the names showed so I could have the visual and written names for my trip to the nursery.
They appear at the bottom of the screen!
Thank you so much for this video. I love the humor behind it and at the same time learning a lot. I love the way you talk about plants.
I envy you from Quebec. So many nice shrubs

Some really good suggestions. I have a
Mix of sun and shade and I have deer 🦌 here in Raleigh.

Thank you, Mr. Justin, thank you.

Sunjoy mini saffron barberry, I got 4 of them!
Great show love all plants
We hope you made it through the storm!
Love your vids, where’s your hat from?
Would the Blue Star Juniper give my apple trees cedar rust you think?
How did the cameraman hold it steady when Justin flirted with the nandina ? 😂
Purple daydream Loropetlum is another one you forgot
Thank you!
Thanks

Is your event still happening on the 6th? In the news, I have seen where there are lines for gas in Cleveland County since Helene.
@@staciejackson7497 Hey Stacie,
Thank you for asking. We've been monotoring the situation closely and plan to proceed with the event at this time. Most of our area has power restored and our hope is that conditions continue to improve before the weekend. If anything changes we will keep everyone posted!
Hey Justin. Great content! How do you rate distylium and sunshine ligustrum for deer resistance?
I live in NY and deer eat all the yews in the winter. If there aren't other options, they definitely eat them.
I have gold mops that are 12 to 15ft tall.
👍👍👍
I heard rabbits will still eat the Color Guard Yucca. Is that true?
❤
The deer have not touched my firechief arborvitae, and we have loads of deer.
How about evergreen shrub like Nellie stevens
I wish you can help me help my Mother with her yard My Dad use to but he past …Mother is 94 years old so she needs something easy to manage. She lives in New Mexico USA
I have found that deer do not touch my yellow arborvitae like yellow ribbon and polar gold.
Waygula.. 😂
Which are Native?
🤭🤭you’re so wacky😂😂
💙🪴👍🏻🪴💙
I'm still waiting for a edible video...
Were you affected by hurricane Eileen? I hope not!
Lol😂
Bah! My goats mow the crap out of my Abelia. Deer are going to lobe them too.
Deer went to town on my Abelia when I planted them. May be better once they grow? I have a Camelia that deer won't touch, but a friend planted a new one and they ate it up. Won't touch the native mountain laurels and rhododendron.
