I love serpentine that is dark. if you hold a flashlight behind it, it just glows. Green is my favorite color! That intro was trippy! Reminded me of a Friday night in the 70’s. lol. Keep on rocking on!
Worked on some Bowenite (I think) today that I bought up in GP for pendants! Can't wait to go out and find some for myself. Gorgeous light greens, white, and darker greens.

Really Great video Andrew. I heard you were in Tuesday, sorry I missed ya. I cleaned big saw #9 Wednesday so you’ll be even happier next time. 😝👍🏽 Great finds out there. I need to get back out there when it warms. Still so bittersweet driving out there because I grew up ‘river every day of the summer’ when it was the river before the damn dam… Cheers to the next trip. ✌🏽💚
That one you tossed at 5:25 looked like the dendritic kind. The cracks dont always go all the way through. Next time cut into one. You will be glad you did. Never know until you cut into it how translucent they are in the middle. 8:00 reminds me of actinolite schist. It takes a nice polish. 17:20 dragon's eye. I would test that one. Great job!
Cool stuff! Love the drone shots. Great video dude! I almost never find anything green in Missouri… unless it needs cleaning… then I find tons of green rocks 🤷🏻♂️😂 most of the time it’s algae. I did find a couple pieces I think contain some malachite but that’s it so far. Definitely no jade here.
Most of nepherite and jadite is found in 5-8 places in the world. Nepherite dies off around Montana and only as far as the cascades from alaska leading all the way to Guatemala on the america pacific coast. Not much found on west pacific coast. But in burma there is actual jadeite or imperial jade which is the clear stuff china wants. So being your that far east from where it originates makes sens you wint find any. But finding malachite is awesome! Just dont lick it!! It is a heavy carcinogen!!!
Thanks! If you want to cut rocks before you have a saw of your own, check out the Roxy Ann Gem and Mineral Society (Crater Rock Museum). I go there to cut all the time.
Beautiful stuff once it's cut. Subbed. Funny you are so careful with scree. My friends and I used to race down the scree slopes on the mountains here in Scotland.
Oooh, thanks for making me jealous. Been there, hounded that area, have some of that material. Moved away from Medford so I enjoy watching your vids to see places I used to go and wish I had!
I appreciate that, it was my pleasure. I'm new to this amazing hobby and I'm trying to learning as much as I can. I look forward to the next one! My names Nic.
i so want to find a nice piece of that. The shot at around 4:43 to 4:46 made me drool with all those rocks to search through. Was this on the river or around the lake. I googled it and it would take me a bit over the hour to get to the dam. Would I be able to park nearby and not walk far to get to look for what the river/lake has to offer. I would love to join a group search if you ever put one together Andrew! Hint, hint! I know I can buy it on the Internet, but I love the adventure of being out and about, searching, even at my age and my decrepit body! LOL 💕💕💜💜😊😊💜💜💕💕
If you would like to visit the spot I find the bowenite at, send me a PM on FB. I have a spot that you will be able to navigate. Mostly flat ground and close to the water. Just let me know and I'll help you out.
That's great Andrew. Hopefully next time Erin visit we can go there and maybe I can check it out alone before then. I'd be thrilled just to walk in a good gravel spot just to feel that energy! 💕💕😊😊👍👍😊😊💕💕@@TheRogueRockhound
The screeeee made me laugh 😂 I fell victim to the scree at the rock quarry on the 66 about 6 months ago...it’s much better over there now since they moved some dirt on top of it!! I also think I have some bowenite in my car that I found near where you’re at! I’m gonna have to check tomorrow. Thanks for your great videos!!
Wow!! That stuff turned out amazing, quite gemmy too!! Super cool with the pyrite inclusions, looks like mother nature added a sprinkle of gold into the mix!!😁
Thanks a bunch! Seems like I lucked out with the quality on some of these. I've had a few reputable locals tell me to hold on to it b/c that clarity is hard to come by. I'm stoked!
Happy New Year! Like your videos, super cool that you share locations. I'm super new to Rockhounding, but totally addicted! I'm currently in Keno Oregon, and wondering if you know of any spots near? Hoping to hit the dirt before it snows again!
Happy new year! and Thanks ^^ As for locations in your area, yeah, youve got a lot around you. The best spot around you is my friend's fire opal mine. Send me a message of FB or IG and I'll help you find some spots. Thanks again!
That location is quite stunning. The serpentine you have there is outstanding material, I’m not sure if we have similar material here in Australia, but it’s another one to research. Enjoyed your video with some of those materials looking outstanding. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin
Thanks man and I agree, outstanding material. There is serpentine all over Southern Oregon/Northern California so I'll be looking for a lot more of this stuff. Take care down there buddy
Well, that was an absolutely gorgeous place to go rockhounding. What an excellent spot. Lots of different types of material to go through. I had no idea that stuff was gonna look as amazing as it did cut. I mean, I knew it was definitely pretty stuff, but wow! Could easily spend all day there. Maybe could even go swimming there when it warms up. Excellent video, Andrew! Rock on, brother. 😁🤘
Glad you enjoyed it buddy! Seriously amazing material buddy. Next time you visit Oregon, I'll take you there and we can splash around like baby ducks ^^
Spent some time looking for access points on the Applegate. do you have any locations you could share. Don't want you to give away "your" spot though hehe
