We are in a 15 foot vintage camper. We are 3/4 time RVers and just got back from Niagra Falls,New York. Heading up to the UP in Michigan. Our rig is usually sitting among enormous Class As and 5th wheels. There is NOTHING that would make us want to go bigger. We can set up or tear down in 15 minutes...including our checklists! We are encouraged as we’ve had many driving the huge rigs tell us they love our little camper and “hope we REALLY like each other!” So far, so good! ♥️ Thanks for the review. This kind of rig will never be in the realm of possibility for us.

I am also renovating an older travel trailer that a friend gave me. As a 65 yr old woman I have absolutely NO skills...your videos are encouraging me! My "Tin Can Cabin" sits on vacant land I own, so no power out there. I bought myself a small inverting gas generator to run a fan and power tools. I have run into most of the issues you two have, except that I have ALOT of critter issues as well. Hopefully after I finish the tear out, I can seal them out! Thank you, so glad I found you! Looking forward to the next video! Stay well!

Just a little tip from experience...when you have the engine work done make ABSOLUTELY SURE to wrap any electrical wires that are located near or even around the exhaust headers with insulation wrap. Under an extreme pull those babies get cherry RED hot. I suffered an extreme electrical fire that traveled all the way into the drivers compartment under the dash....it got really really bad..smoke and toxic fumes....so make sure you check and add insulation under the engine cover....it makes it quieter and cooler in the cab.......BEST Wishes Always.

If you are switching from a carburetor to an EFI set-up (good choice) you should check out Holley.com and look at some of their factory refurbished Holley "Sniper" EFI self tuning kits. You can get them in the $700 range, easy bolt on swap from a carburetor, they have a simple 4 wire hookup (battery Positive/Negative/ignition switch/RPM), comes with new fuel lines and a clamp on oxygen sensor, has a built in fuel pressure regulator so you don't have to plumb one in, it has a touchscreen control that you use to answer a few basic questions about what engine you have and then it tunes itself as you drive. You could actually do the swap yourself in your driveway in a couple hours (and have another reno Vlog to show!). Better MPG, cold weather starting, and responsiveness which is great for traffic in an RV. Great job on the reno so far BTW.

    Eric & Allison,
I've been following this series since the beginning and have been excited to see the finished product whether the RV is engulfed in flames haha or on the road with that new engine that "runs like a kitten!"
Yall are doing great!! I know the frustrations of what yall are going through, but just remember how much more you'll appreciate the RV in the end!
I'm currently building a Camper trailer that originally started out like your RV, whereas every turned over section explored turned into a disaster... But then I demo'd the whole camper and have been transferring over to a steel structure with wooden walls recessed within.
It's coming along is all i can say haha.
I look forward to watching the many more videos within the series!
    Cheers

We just started watching your videos about your renos. You guys are great and sure seem to be professionals. We bought a old rv and are redoing it to meet our needs. We took out the double bed and used the cabinet base for a twin bed. It's perfect. My wife has to sleep in a recliner so we took out the couch and put in a oversize recliner. The bathroom is too small so I took out part of a wall to expand it. Its coming along good. Looking forward to our first trip in a couple weeks. Take care and thanks for the great videos.

Glad to see you are taking a break, you deserve it! You are probably planning a layout and I’m sure you already know all these things so I’m just going to remind you. Some things to consider: make sure to have a table of some sort that is always accessible, it just makes things easier. Consider a portable generator instead of a permanent one (and maybe propane instead of gas so you don’t need to carry around containers of gas). Plan the RV for the two of you and not for when you have guests. Let the guests get their own accommodations. Spend a little more to get a really good, comfortable mattress. Make your cushion/ furniture upholstery covers out of high grade material that is water repellant, fade resistant and durable. Stick with plainer materials for the cushions/upholstery so you can easily change/freshen your decor with accessories. A shower that has a somewhat deep pan (4”-6”) and can work as a shallow bathtub comes in handy for a lot of things. Do install a good vent fan with a rain guard, it reduces the need for AC. Also, consider some type of perimeter cameras for safety. Happy trails!

I've just purchased a 1988 Fleetwood Tioga Montara 21Ft (Chevy G30 chasis) and I'm starting on the mechanical (engine/powertrain) before doing anything else. As I'm not a mechanic, it is at an autoshop being looked at and worked on for road safety (required for registration) and then I'll be getting the RV systems checked and fixed, and THEN I will start looking into gutting/rebuilding (probably waiting until later in the fall or winter). I've been watching your videos with much trepidation (especially the over-cab rebuild portion) and really hoping I don't find what you did in the teardown. Thank you for sharing the journey and Really looking forward to it.

Maybe you have already got to it by the time the video uploaded but really check the waste tank. Our camper was almost like new even though it was 10 years old. The husband died the month after they bought it and they only went in it 1 time . It sat for 10 years under a carport in Fla. Well after having it all running well dry rot got into the plastic. It might be better just to buy a new tank.

RV idea - Build a hidden shower! I've seen and read a lot about the negative aspects of a wet bathroom in smaller RVs. A possible alternative is to build a shower pan that will be "hidden" by a storage closet or some other item that slides over the shower pan when no one is showering (which is most of the time). I saw this idea in a tiny house show (Living Big in A Tiny House). Showers are often "dead space" and having a wet bathroom just seems like an avoidable mess. The challenges is building the sliding storage (or whatever element - seating area[?]) covering the shower pan in a manner that works for an RV. It's fun watching you guys. Safe travels.

You both need some time off from this massive undertaking having no experience in rebuilding a RV. Just remember when designing the interior, balance is the key when the RV is on the road taking a turn. Also if the engine get a rebuild you might want to do the entire drivetrain rebuild because the power from the engine might tear apart the transmission, U-joints and or the rear axle, it happened to me years ago. Both of you are doing great and there is a light at the end and is getting closer. Enjoy the time at the farm and what was the dogs name?

I admire your work. I envy you that you have such a distance to all materials for restoration. I bought a 1996 Ford e350 in Europe. class c. with a leaking roof. I thought that I would have little work, but now I am still far behind you, but I also have to disassemble everything and do it all over again. your structure is wooden and mine is aluminum, and you are an inspiration for my actions. Greetings from Poland

I so look forward to seeing your latest adventures. Do you know that both of you are absolutely hilarious? BTW, in the 1960's my parents bought a British RV called Comer. We spent many happy days in campgrounds and beaches in France, where we lived. So, there was no renovation involved, but it provided a really compact cozy space for our little family. As an 8+ year old, I loved it!

Nothing against the RV videos, love them...but your smiles while exploring are who you guys are and it's very encouraging to see it again! Looking forward to the next one! :)

Every time you show your drawing of your new refrigerator I see the exhaust fans look like they’re going inside a cabinet. I guess you would cut a hole and make sure it vents well because they get warm if your planning on sliding it into the cabinet cover, or?

Small business - so important, Thank You for supporting your local. Foxtrot Coffee surely appreciates it and your coverage. It's great to see rejuvenation efforts in your town. I actively look for ways to support small local companies and hope this could become something to add to your vlogs. Once you finish the Brady Mobile (have you named it yet?) and begin your travels you could seek out the unique small business all over America. Luv U Guys!

Hey guys, before going for one of those super expensive Dometic cooler/fridges, checkout Will Prowse's youtube channel where he shows how easy it is (and cheaper) to use a dorm size fridge and add extra solar to run it. Compressor fridges like those are the way a lot of RV makers are going too.
