I'm so glad it's not just me!! I get teary eyed any time I have to get a vehicle towed. Thank goodness, I haven't had to do that for my RV yet. (I'm trying not to jinx myself. Road trip starting Friday). And I love that you drove my to check on her. Mine is at a storage unit one town over from me. I wave every time I drive by. Sometimes, on my drive to work, I have to talk myself out of just turning off to get the RV and disappearing into the sunrise. Thanks so much for sharing all of this with us. Safe travels.
When you’re installing multiple pieces of trim, like above the window @ 5:20, try to lay front piece over the back, so when you’re driving in rain, water flows over the joint rather into it. Think of how you lap shingles for water running top to bottom, but when driving water will flow front to back.
Y'all have great attitudes, even during the less than great times! Years from now, you'll look back on these times & laugh! You do life right.👍💜💙 Super stoked to see you on the road, in this home on wheels!🤠
We put some nice ply on our floor and wanted to stain it and I swear we spent more on samples of stain as opposed to the stain we eventually chose! Such a pain as nothing looked like it was “meant” to!!!
Lol … when I first started full timing in my 20’s, my first rig was a ‘76 Dodge C class. It had to be towed SO often that all the tow truck drivers knew me and my rig, The ValHaus, by name.
Truth! We've actually solved a ton of problems we were worried about while we've been driving. It's been great to relax a bit and take a step back. And then next week we'll be back and at it better than ever :)
What a disappointment, the ole girl gave you a surprise. You all sure took it with a positive attitude. Really like the last wood stain you decided on, it makes the wood look vibrant and natural with the light color you were looking for so she will look bright and beautiful. Look forward to your surprises!
When you get the Ol’ Gal in running order and want to take a trip that’s not too far, drive up to St. Charles, MO. There’s an RV park close to Old St. Charles-Main Street. And if you really wanna have a festive time, come during one of our many festivals like Legends & Lanterns in October or Christmas Traditions between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I love how you handle whatever set backs come your way. So impressed with what you have done so far, it’s looking amazing. Have fun in your trip, you two are such fun to watch
I am a mechanic. I watched this video looking forward to armchair troubleshooting your van and instead it turned out to be a discussion on woodstain! LOL!! My advice is just let her pick the color and move on. Happy Wife, Happy Life. I am guessing the float on your carb is not set up right or you have a bad ignition module in your distributor. I will check back to see what fixed it.
when a vehicle is standing a while things tend to clog up , you can try and see if the mecanical fuelpump is still working (pull the hose of the carb hold it in a jar and start the truck) , there should be fuel coming out if not the pump is the first place to look another thing to check is spark , pull one of the plugleads stick a screwdriver in it and hold the screwdriver near the engine block and hit the starter (of theres a spark the ignition system works ) put a some fuel in an old water bottle and drill punch a small hole in the cap , quirt i little down the carb while starting and see if it starts to stumble and cough , if it does that might be enough to get it to start , if not the carb might be needing a rebuild again
I feel ya. I dropped my 1986 Chevy Tioga motorhome off at the mechanic about a week ago. It should finally be up on a hoist today to see that it is sound and not a money pit. you guys are inspiring.
Awww that such a shame Rv would start. 🙏 garage gets it all fixed Love the colour you choose for the stain on the doors Enjoy your well earned break 🥰 take care
Sorry about the engine woes. Blessings to you. My only other concern is the exterior decorative wood. The elements will not be friendly and can become a water/mold host over time
Oh man 🤦🏻♀️but on a brighter note, this Wisconsin girl living in Florida is super excited to see some Wisconsin adventures! Eat al the fresh cheese curds!!!
Hey from Wisconsin, I can't wait to see what interesting things you do here. If your coming from Illinois stop at Mars cheese castle for cheese curds. 😋
You guys are crushing this project! Don't know how far in advance you guys filmed this but hope our Wisconsin weather is less Wisconsin than it currently is for you guys!
Thanks! And ya, we really lucked out missing the 30 degree temps and rain over the weekend. Looks like the weather should be perfect while we're here 🙌
Hi really great RV CAMPER VIDEO everything will be ok and you will have your RV CAMPER back really looking forward to seeing your next video keep safe 😷👍🏻
Endless Repair. Never ends. At least it’s all yours. Stains are nice. Best to not argue whether stain or paint. Painting cabinets appears to be more work since more time to select paints are an issue. Plus, the painting for a proper finish is a hassle.
I LOVE the color of the pine stained wood cabinet doors you chose. Well done...now go have some fun while your baby is at the mechanic doctor. Up and away....!
No worries. I was ready to take our 1986 Heritage Class C out for Memorial Day...but last minute fuel pump and other little things decided to break...well...going tent camping.
probably fuel pump. Would be mounted on the block and be mechanically driven. I bought a old Dodge Motorhome long ago that had sat a long time. The fuel pump died just before I went to drive it home. Luckily was only a 30 minute replacement at the seller's house. ( parts store was close )
So glad you decided to keep the plans you made without the RV. I understand how stressful this must have been and you need some self-care time for the both of you now! ;)
No shame at all! You guys have done an amazing job with the RV! Can’t wait to see the finished product. And as an aside, can you schedule more group trips? I’m on both waitlists :)
I have the same RV but it's a dodge, it's been in the shop since November! Lmao. I'm so excited to start working on it bc y'all have some amazing ideas and I appreciate y'all for the videos!! You really go in on detail and are super helpful
The rain guards are no longer protected by paint. I think you should find a sealant to prevent oxidation. Just a guess, but your fuel may have gone bad by sitting so many months.
My thoughts exactly. Would have been good to clear coat them. I have an raw aluminum boat and I can tell you from experience, it’s a pain to remove oxidation and it’s almost a yearly task.
Wooo Wisconsin! Always fun to see people visit your home state. I know you guys enjoy breweries, so if you are in the Milwaukee area you have to check out Eagle Park Brewery! Really unique and good beers. And just across the river at Lakefront Brewery they have the best cheese curds! :)
I hope you pulled the drive shaft before towing. With the engine not running an Automatic should not be towed, even in Neutral. Even a mile is enough to damage it.
You re doing great job! We love seeing the progress. RVs always make me nervous because of the engine. I am glad you will get the engine worked on in Chicago, and before! Can't wait to see the WI road trip.
Isn't much that can go wrong with a Chevrolet from that year. Most likely was an ignition control module under the distributor cap. I'd keep an extra new one in the glove box. They are easy to change especially in a motorhome
How exciting! Hopefully it's been a mostly fun and stress-free rebuild. 😅 Sadly we'll be between Madison and Eau Claire this trip, but we'll be back soon enough - and hopefully with the RV next time!
Hope you two left early for Wisconsin I was just driving 90 and the cars coming from the south had a 10 mile back up around Madison😳 Enjoy my beautiful state, I wish there was better weather for you two. But I’m sure you’ll find some nice Whiskey to warm you up. Cheers 🍻
You guys are doing a pretty good job building that RV, but as a tradesman I have to tell you that that two piece drip rail you have over your louvre windows is lapped the wrong way around. You should never have the 'open' end of the join facing forward because water will be forced into that join. The 'open' end should always face the rear of the vehicle so the driving water flows over the join and not into it. But it's an easy fix.
If you’re going to road trip around Wisconsin, you should go up to northern. Wisconsin! The biggest chain of lakes in the country is the Eagle River - Three Lakes area. Super cute little towns, beautiful nature, and even a bit more north there’s a lot of waterfalls to travel to as well
My brother-in-law's family has a home in the North Woods! It's really lovely up there. I used to live in SE Wisconsin...very flat...but Milwaukee is a really neat city.
Thanks for the recommendations! We're likely just hitting up the Madison and Eau Claire areas this time around, but we'd love to get up there in the RV! It sounds magical 😍
@@Theendlessadventure fun! Madison is so cute and guess what's just north of Eau Claire? Chippewa Falls and the Leinenkugal's Brewery! My sister used to live out that way. Can't believe I didn't think to mention it. Drive safely!

@@delukxy Oh, that's good! :)
@@ColinBarrett001 I thought afterwards that it could have been Towed of Towed Haul.
Only tip I’d give is to always wipe your stain and sealer on WITH the grain, not against it. Great job, y’all!
Glad I’m not the only person who noticed that as well. 👍🏼
That hurt my soul to watch but I’ve also gotta agree with the comment above saying that you guys deserve a good rebuild or crate motor.
It hurt my soul too when they were wiping against the grain!
I cried in my brain...
I thought the same thing. And then I wondered if it was a weird thing for that specific brand...🤪
We put some nice ply on our floor and wanted to stain it and I swear we spent more on samples of stain as opposed to the stain we eventually chose! Such a pain as nothing looked like it was “meant” to!!!

Rain guards are so cool and work. For cars, they use 3m tape and it is working. Fun Show.
You are very lucky you have a very large workshop with high ceiling.

For the "old gal", electronic ignition and computerized throttle body upgrade would help tremendously with startup reliability.
I watched the whole thing seeing what fixed their rig, instead a lesson on woodstain..lol
I seen this same rv on fb marketplace, when we were looking for ours. Neat!
