Hi travelers! 😊 I’m a Sicilian guy and I have started to watch your videos some days ago. I fell in love with the style of your videos and watched at least ten of them in less than a week. You are so cute and super cool! When I realized you are in Italy these days I continued watching and understood how beautiful Italy is and how people from abroad really get astonished by it 🇮🇹❤️. Anyway I don’t know if you are still in Sicily but if you are, there are some places I would like to recommend to you (even if you would need a lifetime to visit all Italy and it wouldn’t be enough 😉): the city center of Palermo and of Catania, valley temple in Agrigento, Erice and Siracusa. There are also so many little cute villages (such as Gangi and Marzamemi) but you probably don’t have so much time. I hope it is helpful! Good trip guys! 😉
Enrico, I am an American of Sicilian ancestry. I spent 3 weeks in Sicily last summer, I agree with you about Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Erice, Trapani. I made it all the way to Enna, starting from Palermo Province. I would also recommend Cefalu, Sciacca, and if someone is interested in archaeology, in addition to the Valley of the Temples, Segesta and Seilinunte are also worth a visit. Piazza Armerina was fascinating as well. Sicily was beautiful. Can't wait to go again. Buon Natale.
Hi! I agree about the other places you mentioned, but my comment was meant to be a little tip for the adventurers, because I knew they would have stayed just a few days. For a longer trip I would have recommended also Marsala and the wines, Scicli and all the Sicilian baroque around Noto, in addition to the ones you mentioned. Ciao e buone feste!
Aaahhh that's the gate of my house at 7:41!! Just before getting to the Greek Theatre :) Everyone stops there to take photos, and especially during the peak tourist season leaving the house and getting back inside through the crowd gets a bit difficult haha! I love seeing visitors enjoying my hometown so much, thank you for showing it in such a lovely light
My husband and I were in Sicily in September. Beautiful Weather...just an extra layer of Clothes on Mt. Etna. The People, the food...we are seriously thinking about returning next year. Hope you get to see the Greek Temples in Agrigento. A trip of a lifetime!
Isn’t Italy incredible? I stayed in a BnB on lake como that was built 600 years ago. We traveled Italy north to south. The history snd scenery and art and architecture and people and food were stellar. I would love to return as soon as the world returns to normal travel again
Sicilian food is the best Italian style food ...like, EVER. My adoptive mother is 100% Italian-Sicilian and let me tell you- I had the best childhood growing. The food was AH-MAZING! And the desserts were even better. It's common for Sicilian pasta to have an egg. And don't be surprised to find anchovies in your pasta. It's a Sicilian thing. Sicily is definitely on my must-go-to bucket list.
Stacey Not sure there is anything that can be labelled ‘Sicilian food’; in common with the rest of Italy, the food varies from region to region and even from town to town. As just one example, the food of Palermo in the North-West is very different from what you will find in Catania on the East coast. That said, Italian is one of the great cuisines of the world and found in every country on the planet. My main tip for any visitors, from the US in particular, is to forget what you get in your local Italian back home and when you are in Italy, just choose local dishes...NOT the old familiar names!
I was in Taormina in June 2018 and enjoyed it. They sell raw chestnut honey at the Mt Etna base where the tourist shops and stalls are - such good honey...will never forget it. 😄
Just an FYI, in Italy what you guys are calling croissants are actually called cornetti or cornetto (singular). Loving the series, Sicily is on my “to see” list and I’m slowly making my way around all of Italy 😊
@@cranci I've bought them numerous times in Rome, Firenze, Venice and Milan and further north from there and they've always been labeled as cornetti/cornetto when I've seen them, I mean how far north in Italy are we talking? like in France?
I visited Mount Etna in late June (nearly ten years ago) and we did a bus tour that brought us all the way up to the top. It was definitely much colder and windier than at ground level, though not nearly as bad as in your video; we were reasonably comfortable in jeans and hoodies. The views from the top were absolutely spectacular. I definitely recommend going if you ever get the chance to go back in warmer weather.
There are times of the year when you can ski on Etna in the morning, then go down to the beach and swim in the sea in the afternoon. The difference in temperature can sometimes be more than 20C.
Etna is like the dark side of the moon, amazing, loved our visit. My boys and hubby went up in the 4x4 tour and saw the old chair lifts that had been destroyed by a previous eruption, my sons girlfriend and me wandered the lower levels and perused the coffee shop too. The only downside when we went was the plastic waste everywhere.
I’m so happy you guys got to experience my beautiful Island! Mt. Etna is a crazy volcano but we love it regardless! And I am also glad you enjoyed granita. You can’t really find one that tastes as good it does in Sicily anywhere else...♡
The Med can be a very windy place. I recall taking my life in my hands on the hydrofoil from the Isle of Capri back to Sorrento... The wind just threw it around like a toy... Great Vlog and you can't go too far wrong with fresh, local ingredients in any food... nom nom nom :)
I was holding my breath when you said dessert. I was hoping you would go to Bam Bar. For anyone reading this comment don't miss visiting here! The granita is spectacular. Visiting Taormina and not stopping at this little cafe defeats the purpose of your trip to Sicily! I attended a night time concert at the Teatro Antico. Completely amazing with Mt.Etna fuming and rumbling in the background. Certainly an event of a lifetime!
Sicily is so cute, and picturesque looking but also beautiful too! It’s absolutely amazing! I’d have loved to have that dessert, I looked amazing and the volcano!! 🌋 it would have been so cool to climb up to see it properly!! But alas it was waaaay to windy! It was still beautiful though, definitely loved this video! Can’t wait for the next one!
On your next trip to Sicily, you need to visit Cefalu. It is a seaside town about 50 miles east of Palermo. It is a cute town and you can climb LA Rocca. It has ruins on the top with beautiful views. You also need to check out Scala dei Turchi, which in near Agrigento. You can also contact my friend in Cefalu, Saro Cangelosi. He runs a travel company, GuKan Viaggi(FB page) in Cefalu. If anyone needs assistance traveling around Sicily. You can also go to Corleone Italy, it has a coffee/gelato shop that has pictures of the Godfather movie. According to Wikipedia Mount Etna has erupted many times in the 20th Century, so it looks like your postcard was very authentic. Wow, going up the side of an active Volcano is so cool. Very nice editing and storytelling.

I went to the top of Etna somewhere back in the mid 1980's. That was middle of Summer. It was not too cold (not exactly that warm either) and the wind was certainly more or less the same as you guys had. Pretty sure it's always like that up there.

@The endless adventure Me and my wife really enjoy your videos, we would really love to see you guys travel to Montenegro - there is an amazing area called Kotor bay and the views are out of this world. We have been back there so many times and can’t stop exploring. There is a mountain called Lovcén and you can drive to the top. I feel that too many people have never even heard of this beautiful country but it’s so friendly and safe. It would be really amazing to see you guys do a video there.
Giving me all the honeymoon nostalgia! We went to Catania and spent the day walking the city streets, shopping, and viewing the churches. I found a lovely ceramic plate to bring home to my Sicilian grandmother (her family is from Carrini), and the food we tried... Well, it was really good, but I don't know what it was haha It was kind of like a calzone.
Try Cassata Siciliana in Palermo. Granita, gelato you can get anywhere in Italia. Cassata unique to Sicilia and when in Palermo, downtown, find it year round...ask around, 2 fine pastry shops are famous for it.

You can take a *lift* (like an enclosed ski lift) to the top of Mount Etna, I went in June, not this year of course, and there are actually 3 volcanos, and the ground is warm, it will slightly melt the rubber underneath your shoes, it was windy, but not unbearable. In addition, just walking around the town of Taormina, all the quaint numerous shops, each corner, street is different, it's all about the views, quality, craftsmanship, and that's its unique charm!
I really like your videos. You are geeat travellers and go with the flow and find interesting things - expexded or unexpected, and you have a really great attitude. I was in Taormina in September 2019 with family. And we took a guided trip to Mount Etna, almost 3000 m above sea level. It was about 5 degrees C but no wind. There had been an eruption a couple of months before and there was still smoke ooozing up from the ground not far away from us. We took a walk around the rim of the crater. It was beautiful and I am glad we went 😍👌🏼
Drouin Johnny Mount Etna is absolutely not ‘...the most active volcano in the world’. If you go to Italy (Italia), or visit Sicily (Sicilia) in particular, then the island of Stromboli (stress on the first syllable), one of the seven volcanic Aeolian Islands (Isole Eolie) just off the north coast is more active than Etna. You can do regular early evening boat trips to watch the natural firework display that happens every half hour or so.
I have been to Mt Etnea and to the theater in Toarmina. I loved Sicilly! I was there is October, it was chilly. We just drove up to that same area you were at. Didn't go all the way to the top either.
Hi we are visiting Taomina this October and we don’t know what to expect weather wise - do you have any advice as to what type of clothing we should pack ?
@@chrissie.0864 Warm during the day (75-80??), cool at night. October is the rainy season, but only had one really rainy day the 2 weeks I was there, (and that was on the mainland in the heel of the boot.) Of course, if you go up Etna, it will be COLD. I wore long pants and short sleeves, but always had a sweater I could put on. Have a wonderful trip!!
My wife and I were in Taormina (and all around Sicily) on our honeymoon last year! Probably early-May-ish 2018? Such an adorable town. Did you take the hanging gondola down to the water to see Isola Bella? It was pretty incredible. We didn't make the trek up to Mt Etna, we decided we'd rather hang in town or at our Airbnb with a glass of wine and admire it from a distance instead, haha.
Most people think that all of Sicily is dominated by Mount Etna. Yes, Mount Etna is very large and very high, 3345 Meter. But Sicily is a huge island and the west coast isn't affected by Etna at all. And Mount Etna is not very active, it has been active non stop for at least 5000 years.
lol for me the postcard is absolutely normal since etna erupts multiple times every year, just search some videos! right now in the last days she gave us some serious shows!
I love what you do. You got to go to Spain, visit Granada, Sevilla, Valencia, Madrid, Aranjuez, Toledo, Segovia... and the balearic islands. If you think, youve seen nice places already, go to Spain!

We went the last week of september, it was quite warm(25 degrees). We did a hike at the northeast side, not the south side, with a really nice (knowledgeable and inexpensive) official mountain guide: Anima munti on Instagram! Highly recommended. Love your video! Toarmina is a lot(!) busier in the summertime.

Usually they are called "cornetti" in the south of Italy, in the north we call them croissants

I went to the top of Etna somewhere back in the mid 1980's. That was middle of Summer. It was not too cold (not exactly that warm either) and the wind was certainly more or less the same as you guys had. Pretty sure it's always like that up there.
When I saw that wind I thought of Moher, where I have had my breath taken away many times. I'd forgotten you had been there. Its beautiful in summer , too , mind.

It's normal to eat a scoop of coffee ice cream/gelato in a brioche roll freshly powdered with fine icing sugar. One of my favourite.

Me and my wife really enjoy your videos, we would really love to see you guys travel to Montenegro - there is an amazing area called Kotor bay and the views are out of this world. We have been back there so many times and can’t stop exploring. There is a mountain called Lovcén and you can drive to the top.
I feel that too many people have never even heard of this beautiful country but it’s so friendly and safe. It would be really amazing to see you guys do a video there.

Giving me all the honeymoon nostalgia! We went to Catania and spent the day walking the city streets, shopping, and viewing the churches. I found a lovely ceramic plate to bring home to my Sicilian grandmother (her family is from Carrini), and the food we tried... Well, it was really good, but I don't know what it was haha It was kind of like a calzone.
Try Cassata Siciliana in Palermo. Granita, gelato you can get anywhere in Italia. Cassata unique to Sicilia and when in Palermo, downtown, find it year round...ask around, 2 fine pastry shops are famous for it.
Never been to Italy, Sicily looks awesome, I think it has to go on the "to do" list. Great video guys !!

You can take a *lift* (like an enclosed ski lift) to the top of Mount Etna, I went in June, not this year of course, and there are actually 3 volcanos, and the ground is warm, it will slightly melt the rubber underneath your shoes, it was windy, but not unbearable. In addition, just walking around the town of Taormina, all the quaint numerous shops, each corner, street is different, it's all about the views, quality, craftsmanship, and that's its unique charm!
Been three times. Love it. October.

I really like your videos. You are geeat travellers and go with the flow and find interesting things - expexded or unexpected, and you have a really great attitude. I was in Taormina in September 2019 with family. And we took a guided trip to Mount Etna, almost 3000 m above sea level. It was about 5 degrees C but no wind. There had been an eruption a couple of months before and there was still smoke ooozing up from the ground not far away from us. We took a walk around the rim of the crater. It was beautiful and I am glad we went 😍👌🏼

If you go to Italy (Italia), or visit Sicily (Sicilia) in particular, then the island of Stromboli (stress on the first syllable), one of the seven volcanic Aeolian Islands (Isole Eolie) just off the north coast is more active than Etna. You can do regular early evening boat trips to watch the natural firework display that happens every half hour or so.
I have been to Mt Etnea and to the theater in Toarmina. I loved Sicilly! I was there is October, it was chilly. We just drove up to that same area you were at. Didn't go all the way to the top either.

@@chrissie.0864 Warm during the day (75-80??), cool at night. October is the rainy season, but only had one really rainy day the 2 weeks I was there, (and that was on the mainland in the heel of the boot.) Of course, if you go up Etna, it will be COLD. I wore long pants and short sleeves, but always had a sweater I could put on. Have a wonderful trip!!
My wife and I were in Taormina (and all around Sicily) on our honeymoon last year! Probably early-May-ish 2018? Such an adorable town. Did you take the hanging gondola down to the water to see Isola Bella? It was pretty incredible. We didn't make the trek up to Mt Etna, we decided we'd rather hang in town or at our Airbnb with a glass of wine and admire it from a distance instead, haha.

Most people think that all of Sicily is dominated by Mount Etna. Yes, Mount Etna is very large and very high, 3345 Meter. But Sicily is a huge island and the west coast isn't affected by Etna at all. And Mount Etna is not very active, it has been active non stop for at least 5000 years.
Hey, we went in November too, got the cable car to the top and walked a fair bit. Almost lost my drone up Etna. Had a great time

We went the last week of september, it was quite warm(25 degrees). We did a hike at the northeast side, not the south side, with a really nice (knowledgeable and inexpensive) official mountain guide: Anima munti on Instagram! Highly recommended. Love your video! Toarmina is a lot(!) busier in the summertime.
