Congrats on the kill and nice guide! To add something, WD already does his job at level 22, since it's a relatively new mini maybe some players don't have him leveled up yet but don't worry, he's a beast even at very low level :)
Well done, I used Pyro in place of Skellies and downed Ony in my 3rd attempt after dozens and dozens of attempts with skellies. the problem I found with Skellies was that it was hard to time pushes to trigger phases. WD is really strong on this encounter with Spirit Ward...it can take out Gargoyles and even Earth Elementals as well as clear out whelp eggs and buff Drak/Shaman and all for 2 gold!
Awesome! So what was your full deck mate? Haha - it took me a LOT of attempts to get her down. The fight is so much about the timings. I think I’m going to have another go at Onyxia - I’d like to try Rend but he’s too low at the moment. WD is incredible in this fight especially for only 2 gold! Spirit Ward so good!
@@nkleanthous1 The strategy may well have the basis of someone else’s strategy and I have no issue in shout-outs - the reality is that I watched so many Onyxia videos that I didn’t note exactly who showcased which strategy. I tried decks with ogre mage, firehammer, drake with roost talent then ended up with this one that worked. I did say that this deck is probably a hybrid of compositions and strategy’s (since most of the Drakk kills use very similar armies) or maybe the same as someone else’s (I haven’t watched every Onyxia kill on YT) but this is the way that I did it and these are my thoughts utilising the strength of Witch Doctor and the Spirit Ward talent. If Bulava has previously showcased this deck with this strategy then a shout-out to him. Unfortunately I can’t add that to the video.
@@ojh87 Entire fight is different than this video now. Straight off the bat Gargoyle and drake spawn either just behind the middle tower or the top right. Feels like theres twice as many earth elementals now than I see in this video and the spawns in phase 3 seem at least twice as much as well.
@Chris-kd7zj Hey! Where the adds spawn at the beginning is random and seems individual to each person although I found it slightly altered dependant on what I did with my mini’s. Unless something has changed that wasn’t publicised, the phases and amount of adds are the exact same. I beat Onyxia again yesterday to see if the older strategies still worked and they do, so it felt the same to me mate
whelpslings doesnt work anymore, if onyxia uses her phase switching deep breath she kills the eggs and no whelps come out EDIT: Ok just switched Eggs for normal drake and 1st try after this xD
@@ply1992 Hey mate. Where the mini’s spawn isn’t the same for everyone. You may need to defend initially then push after. As far as the witch doctor and whelps interaction … neither has received a nerf or buff so I can’t see why there would be any difference Edit: I just had a go with a level 25 WD + spirit ward talent and cleared a side solo so I’m not sure what has happened for you
Hey! If Whelp Eggs are still a good counter to Necromancer then this deck should still be fine. The flame burst talent wasn’t enough to kill Necromancer before the nerf so the whelps attacking was always needed - if the whelps still get the job done, awesome! Whelp Eggs other uses are against melee targets (spiderlings, grunts) or to re-take towers so they should still work vs those mini’s just doing less damage on the burst.
So the weirdest part for me is that every video I’ve seen(including this one) has bandits in their starting hand which they immediately drop on chest to get the early double gold. I do the same thing, but they immediately drop grunts with gryphon rider so there is never a way for me to solidify that early. It’s always missed. Is this cause of some recent patch?
I don't think so mate. The first few minutes of the fight are about getting the towers and defending them, so if you need to play defense against the AI first push, then counter from there, that's fine. Hopefully you've made some progress? You might be able to swap the mini's around in your deck so they are still boosted but appear in a different order for you in the fight.
I have the booster and bought a couple (not all) of the ‘end of zone’ heroic campaign packs. Not loads mate. I have some minis that are level 16-18 so I can’t compete with the max level decks in PvP 😂
Im asking because it feels pretry impossible for me to go over 18 lvl. And i already spent like 50 dollars. I cannot imagine useful party without investing at least 1000 dollars, and even like that, you will be far from maxing everything...

yes i also remember bulava using the ritual of ryhme talent on the skeletons to counteract the earth elementals

Alas, this guide is now obsolete. During phase 1 a drake and gargoyle spawn on tower 1, and the witch doctor can’t handle the whelps on his own :(

I think Rend was the early strat but it became Drakk. Meat Wagon was also an MVP but most strategies now don't use it.
