I saw some other comments here saying that you inspired them to become software engineers, and I just came here to say the same! After studying and working within music/marketing, and being generally unhappy with my job, you inspired me to do an iOS Dev bootcamp two years ago. I've been working as an iOS Dev ever since, and I truly love it! I hope you know how big of a difference you've made for people, and how much you've positively impacted the trajectory of our lives. Especially as a female iOS Dev, I don't think I would've had the courage to jump into iOS Development, without having at least 1 role model (that I could relate to) to look up to. So, thank you so much Mayuko! Representation matters, role models matter, and *you* definitely matter. I'm forever grateful to you and your inspiring, relatable, and motivating videos.

I can definitely relate to the joy of coding after having a break! 🤩
I'd been working as an engineering manager for ~2 years, burnt out, took a 6 months break (my employer was very supportive), came back to the same job but as an individual contributor. During my break I had time to reflect on why I was so miserable in that role and I realised I just loved coding and solving problems hands-on! It's my 4th day back today and I couldn't be happier 😊

I saw it on twitter a while back about your new SWE job, I hope it's really good for you! I was just thinking about your videos the other week and was rewatching old ones as I'm on the grind for breaking into my entry SWE job (it's been rough with big tech not hiring any entry level stuff, but I'm applying to all startups and health tech stuff!).
I'm happy to see anything you produce, on youtube, or anywhere else. We're not meant to stick to one thing forever! I jump between coding, painting and printmaking, and pottery. Balancing it would be awesome, sure, because I understand wanting to "maintain" things, but just as naturally as you went back into SWE, I'm sure you'll want to naturally go back to videos when you feel like it again. No need to please a social media algorithm, just do you!
Social media tends to commoditize what we create and put out there, so much so where I disdain the word "content" nowadays as I feel as it implies it's something to swipe by with a single finger. In a way, your videos are also art! It illicits a reaction, a conversation! Art makes you think. But regardless of your decision, I'll be sure to have the bell turned on to see whatever video's you post in the future. Good luck Mayuko!

I'm finishing my Masters of Science in Data Analytics this May. You and a few other computing channels are the reason I decided to go this far. After I graduate, I'm moving to Washington, D.C.. Thank you! 😊 I wish you nothing but the best.

I'm so happy for you! I've been watching your channel for a long time and get so much value out of your videos. As someone who is a creative figuring out what career I should go into, it's really refreshing to hear that you are going back into tech to help balance out your content creation work. Thank you for showing the world that those two things can help fuel each other!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and part of your life with us. As someone who is currently finding the balance between a creative life/passion projects and a software engineering life, your videos have encouraged me to develop the same level of appreciation and dedication towards engineering. Currently enrolled in a program and working on visualizing the engineering experience I truly want. Thanks again. All the best in your journey.

It's definitely hard to be a full-time creator for any extended period of time, but I've always enjoyed your content - authentic, inspiring, thoughtful, and stylish. Congrats on the new gig and thanks for sharing with us high-quality content in the past two and half years ❤

It's funny I checked when was your last video, a couple of days ago. SWE is fun stuff and writing good code brings out a different kinda! joy. Great to hear that you're following your heart's desire. You can only do great work if you follow your heart's desire.

Hi there, greetings from the UK! I've been following your channel since I started working in engineering (not in tech though, the traditional electronics side) a few months after you posted your first 'Day in the Life' video. Over the years, I've also experienced anxieties, self-doubt, and identity issues( East Asians may be less vocal about these things in the UK compared to the US). Your videos have been a great source of comfort to me when facing difficulties. When you decided to quit your job and pursue your dream as a TH-camr, it inspired me to quit my job, did a master's course, and found a job as a trader in Finance. I'm really glad that I made that decision and can now start work with a smile on my face every day. Thank you very much, Mayuko. I hope you can continue your good work. Updates on your life/progress may inspire people in so many ways that you may not even be aware of. But please don't feel pressured to update frequently; take all the time you need for self-recharging : ) -- An old fan across the Atlantic.

Congrats on the new job! 😄
The new job will hopefully give you a new perspective on things and new content too over time, even if it's not directly about the new job, so it's an even bigger win.

I'm taking a small break from coding - not completely but I'm toning down the intensity, doing something else in the meantime. So I definitely understand and respect your decision.
You need to take breaks, sometimes shorter, sometimes longer - and sometimes you go back. It's good to have a fresh and renewed view on your own situation.

work does help creativity because you dont have the time so time is more valuable. When you do something creative without a job you literally go crazy. You need other things in your mind. Plus, work puts you in positions you wouldnt expect. This is why its best to do both.

Thanks for sharing this. I too have experienced this as a creative person. To have to rely on your creativity for your wellbeing is such a difficult balance that I have yet to master. Once I find myself having to rely on my creative self for support, I always pull away from the project. Im working on it.
