- DIY installation Chamberlain D2201 1/2 HP Heavy-Duty Chain Drive Garage Door Opener. In this video I installed this powerful garage motor unit from Chamberlain on my big garage door. My old Sears motor was going out and I could not open garage door, so I decided to replace it.

Holy shit this might be among the top 3 tutorials ive seen in the 6 years ive worked as a handyman
Thanks, I appreciate your comment. Glad I could help.
I just have to say this may be the BEST tutorial on the entire TH-cam platform. Mines didn’t come with instructions in the box, but I’m glad it didn’t, I may have never watched your video. This was so helpful, and my garage door opens perfectly.
I really appreciate this comment means a lot to me
@@nazarettos6987 man, you mean a lot to me 😂😂😂
My box didn't come with instructions and I followed along with you guys and got it all installed, unreal.. thank you very much for this
No instructions today either..Ai video and it stinks. This video is awesome.
Thank you so much for doing this Tutorial. Better even than the one from the manufacturer!
@@gilbertoalexandre9346 thanks
Amazing video!!! Got it done with the step by step you showed 👏🏿!!
Thank you for watching and I am glad that my video was helpful
Mine didn’t come with instructions so thank you for this video. Excellent step by step explanation.
Apreciate this comment
Neither did mine
Thank you. I've been monkeying with this for 3 days. That one little step was all I was missing.
Which step
This video just got us through the install
Thank you I just purchased one myself very good tutorial👌
i just bought this one to install to replace a different model. mine didn't come with instructions, so this was helpful. but i just took off the old motor and replaced it with the new motor. i used the previously installed chamberlain rail and wiring. i had a belt drive, and swapped for the cheaper chain drive. so the only extra part i had to swap beyond the chain and motor, was the old belt drive pulley above the door. used the chain drive pulley that came with it and swapped out the previous belt pulley.
Im really glad my video was helpful
you saved me a headache. mine came with no instruction manual
Dont forget to lube the big spring on top of the door, the temperature in winter makes them crack, they are in constant contact with the coils, lubrication makes it smoother to work
I lubricated it with white lithium grease
Thank you so much those instructions had me stuck looking for a cable to attach to the chain had I not watched your video the door wouldn’t be done thanks again your the man 🎉
Thank you I appreciate your positive comments
THANK YOU SO MUCH ! Mine didn't have an installation manual . Saved much time
I’m glad my video was helpful to you
Yes, made it go faster for me with less thinkin' and more boltin' together!!!
Thanks for your tutorial! Helped out alot!
my box did not come with instructions either, nice video, thanks
Thank you for this video! I just bought this exact unit. Mine didn’t come with an installation manual so I appreciate what you’re showing. Could I install this using the existing rail, chain and wiring? In other words, only replace the motor.
No use new rail and chain, but sensor wiring you leave the same. Also I don’t think you can install new motor to the old rail, there is special bracket, just use new one.
I used only the motor and it worked fine. But had to watch a youtube video since mine came without any manual or instructions in order to understand the sequence of setting it up to operate properly. Was actually simple after seeing the strange sequence.
Mine didnt come with installation manual or parts list either.
Thank you so much! You are a lifesaver!
This really helped me, thank you so much!
Dos Bites you the man.
Great Video - Thank you very much! looking for some advice on what might be going wrong. I have everything connected but when i push the control button the unit click 4 times and not sure why. Not sure if matters but one sensor is green and the other is amber. Neither is flashing.
@@jasonschwannecke6307 sensors not aligned or wire could be damaged
@@nazarettos6987 are both sensors supposed to be green non flashing for system to proper correctly?
Thanks...glad you did this
You’re welcome. I hope this video was helpful and easy to understand.
The best video Thank you
Very good video ! The only thing I did not see is how did you engage the trolley with chain against the manual emergency release before the you adjust the height of the the door if you can explain that please . Thank you !
Its very easy, first you must connect motor to power, connect all the wiring for the garage. Than push button to open the garage and the trolley will engage and lock in place to pull the garage.
But of course you will have to remove screw driver out of that hole so that motor can pull the troley.
Thank you ! I did it , it engaged and I was able to program the height , your video is the best for anybody trying to installed chamberlain D2101 garage opener .
Hi I was wondering if you could do like a force test on your new Chamberlain garage door opener
Thank you so much!
You welcome, just make sure to check if all the pieces locked in place, also check chain tightening
Where is the cable that connects to the chain. This is all chain no cable???
Correct, there is no cable
How do I tighten the chain further
How do you install the sensors tho??
You mount them on the side of the door rails on the buttom, make sure sensor aim directly at each other. Than guide the wires up the garage opener
@@nazarettos6987mine makes a clicking noise when I try to move it if the sensors aren’t aimed good will they do this? How do I get them to aim at each other perfectly
No instruction in the box.....There is a difference between a bolt and a nut.
