Thanks so much to those who have followed the Haikyuu journey this far. I hope you are enjoying this reaction series. Next up is a DOUBLE HEADER OVA, then we get into Season 4. The final season (thus far) . Up to 4x4 over on Patreon!
18:32 so basically Kageyama was called to the national team(for his age category). Not for matches tho, just a training camp. A pretty big deal if you ask me
I do like that the "pressure" from Ushiwaka went specifically to Tsuki and Hinata, the two players that took it upon themselves to "beat" him: Hinata trying to become as good a spiker as he is, and Tsuki trying to stop him. And they weren't enough. But they weren't alone.
One detail I adore is that during the imagery of the pressure from ushiwaka the order of when karasuno "gets up", daichi then asashi then suga, the 3rd year relieve the pressure first so that tanaka and noya can push up relieving more pressure so that the hinata,Tobio and tsuki can get up and kick into high gear. Love that detail
I like how Cast gradually started talking faster and faster in the intro from the anticipation. I'd never heard of the Pygmalion/Rosenthal effect. Very interesting to think about.
18:36 A bit information about National Youth Intensive Training Camp. It's a training camp for the U-19 (under 19, obviously) National Team coaches to pick the players for the next U-19 National Team. Only fist and second years are invited because third years would be 20 years old by the next U-19 World Championship, which takes place every two years. Currently, it's December 2012. The next U-19 World Championship is in 2013 and Ushiwaka is on the U-19 National Team, as shown in the volleyball magazine back in S2E1 and Hinata yelled "Japan!".
Hi Cast! I know you're a bit ahead in season 4 now, but in case you don't know, there's a one minute scene with Shiratorizawa after this match like Seijoh's 6 minute aftermath that you can find on TH-cam. Their bonding is really heartwarming
Yes, Shiratorizawa is one of the top teams in Japan for sure. But i think you're referring to Ushijima being named one of the Top 3 Aces in High school, the other two being from other prefectures. And Bokuto is one of the Top 5 aces!
Since you've already seen season 4, I want to point out (in case you missed it) that when the coaches were talking about the face Washijo made when they lost to karasuno, it's at 5:23 here.
I love when ushijima says i will defeat you because he knows that all 3 of them will play volleyball on a higher level and i think its the most respect a blunt character like him could give to hinata and kageyama.
During that amazing visual, kageyama was the only first year on court that wasn’t being pressured by Ushiwaka, because he still finds oikawa scarier than ushijima.
I love Tsuki's scene because it also shows how his drive of being a better player is growing. He cares more and more as time passes, and as Yamaguchi said in Season 1 (I think), Tsuki hates losing, so here he's experiencing two motivations fused, his new discovered passiong towards volleyball and the fact that he felt he was worse than Ushijima. Tsuki can become a hell of a blocker if he uses those things right
Back again with another side interesting note about this episode. Basically Hinata's increasing awareness and intelligence of the game. At time 4:11 you see Taichi (the middle blocker) yelling "Their #10 is coming" but Tendo and Taichi see him not coming. At the end of episode 9 and beginning of 10 you see Hinata running a back minus tempo run while everyone else was running a 1st tempo run. Its true minus tempo is amazing in of itself but is so obvious of a play, because ONLY Hinata can run a minus tempo while the others are running 1st. So it was clear and obvious Kageyama would set to Hinata. But at time 4:11 he slowed down his tempo which was PERFECT because not he's as Coach Ukai said, Hes slowing down his tempo and mixing in. Hinata was clever to do this because now everyone is running a 1st tempo so the blockers don't know who to mark for a double or triple block, compared to Hinata running a different tempo compared to the others. From here on out his intelligence of the game just further increases. BTW I hope you would react to the Nekoma OVA's as well as Shiratorizawa ending episode. Can't wait to see future reaction and discussion videos!
shiratorizawa wasn't the top 3 team, only ushijima is in the top 3 national "strikers". as for the other questions I think you know by now since you've already watched the next season probably.
Idk if anybody already let you know about this but there are actually audio dramas for the blue-rays, they can be found on youtube. After you finish season 4, you should watch them, i haven't seen anyone react to it yet, but even if you just watching it by yourself they are worth it (containing things like: why did kenma die his hair, oikawa hanger tooru, and asahi jesus)
You already know by now I guess, but Kageyama has been called to train with the candidates of the Japanese National Team, selecting kids in their first years in order to make them evolve as much as they can for the Olympic team, just like Ushijima representing Japan in the under 19 League, the fact that from all the people in the country Kageyama is one of the chosen ones, it shows how great he really is, and how much potential he has.
A great finale!!!! i'm so happy you are enjoying hq so far :))) tsukki definitely was the mvp and we love when yamaguchi gets him out of the self destruction mindset. i'm so excited for your reaction on the next season and if your takes on the characters will change. Also i hope you do make the tierlist :)) take care!!
I know about SMART, because I took it in my administration classes, I never thought I would come across this in a reaction video 😂 Next are Nekoma OVAs and then you should prepare for the 4th season (in my opinion it has the best arcs at narrative level, parallelism and character development). I love Haikyuu so much 🥰
I don't know why but whenever someone talks about savouring the loss so the victory feels so much better, I think of Ninjas in Pyjamas finishing the first 2 Majors in second place and GeT_RiGhT crying on the floor with the trophy at the Cologne Major..
@CastSenpai maybe he gets one in CS2... Maybe G2 need to stop picking Nuke once they get between quarter to grand finals because its cursed for them, maybe Niko should sub out for grand finals because he keeps choking. Maybe in CS2
Well, Nekoma are playing in November to qualify, which hasn't happened yet, and the Spring Tournament is in January. Which means that the training camp must be taking place around Fall, perhaps before or after the Tokyo qualifiers in case any Tokyo players also got invited into the youth camp. I doubt it takes more than like 2 weeks, as most training camps do Edit: Or maybe it happens in December
I just have a few thoughts regarding your whole ted talk on SMART goals vs bigger goals. You don't have to chose. I think the best way to grow is having both short term and long term goals. Your long term goals would be "the dream" while the short term goals would be the road to getting there. You set a big goal and then you sit down and think to yourself "okay, how do I get there?". Not every short term goal needs to be in order to achieve that end either. Most people can manage to do things on the side that has absolutely nothing to do with "the dream". For an example: You wanna be a big time TH-cam celebrity? Okay, strive to better that craft every single day until you reach it, keep learning things little by little that brings you closer to that goal... but you know you can also learn to play the guitar, play a sport or sit down and play video games for an hour or two a day if that's what you want. You can fit that in. As always, the hard part is how to manage your time.
Absolutely. I think the issue comes in when you lean to heavily into your long term goals. I can tell you firsthand that I have had “big dreams” that at some point I felt I was no longer moving towards, or “stuck” (this is an especially relevant feeling to content creators) and that can lead to some real burnout. It is really all a balance like you said, though that balance can be a really battle just to maintain.
Thanks so much to those who have followed the Haikyuu journey this far. I hope you are enjoying this reaction series.

It's not often that I learn new things and terms while watching a reactor. Things like this are why I'm subscribed.
Great video as always Cast!
Shiratorizawa didn't do well in nationals. It was Wakatoshi himself that was rewarded title of number 3 striker.
Ushijima is one of the top 3 ace in highscool, for the team, i think shiratorizawa is top 8 in country
The noya save was insane

The training camp in Tokyo isn't 1st yrs exclusive (Miya is a 2nd yr, for example).
*SPOILER*:
The 1 in Miyagi is only 1st yrs.
@@bdylp1098 I said "first years" as a way to mention they pick really young kids so they can develop their skills better.
