Sorry for the delay on this one! 😵 Recently started a new full time position so my schedule is all over, but I am going to do my best to stay on Thursday releases for Haikyuu, and keep HxH going into between. 🔥 Currently 4 weeks ahead on Patreon, where we met Inarizaki’s true MVP, Kita! 💪🏻 Patreon allows me to continue making videos, and of course there will be a voting poll on what comes after Haikyuu!! What series do you want to see on the poll?
Been waiting for this Tanaka moment; it's just the most heartwarming moment, because it finally acknowledges that Tanaka is probably the most resilient character in this team.
@@CastSenpai So true; even when I was writing it I knew it could be an overstatement on my part, but I still think it is true on a level--his mental toughness is just so encompassing and supported by such compassion to himself and others. These four characters demonstrate all these qualities, but I feel that in the process Tanaka is also the kindest to himself out of the four (Noya being a close second, except for the situation with Asahi). I need to think about that but for some reason it rings true now that I have said it. Another thing, I think a part of that statement for me stems from the fact that Tanaka is the only player that until now in the anime has played the full length of every single Karasuno game..every single game. To be fair, the only reason Daichi hasn't is his injury, but I still love Tanaka all the more for that, and for being so steadfast even when he isn't a volleyball monster.
15:40 If you notice that move tanaka did, it was bokuto's crazy cross shot where u swing your shoulder to make the ball take a sharp swerve. When tanaka saw bokuto made that move he immediately immitates it and practiced it, but this is the first time he actually perfected it!!! So it felt even more AMAZING
I just love how Tanaka wasn't able to see why the others acted like they did. Noya went for the save beacuse that allows Tanaka to be free for offense. Tsuki set the ball for Asahi, because he was coming from the backline and had a better chance at scoring. And yet, from Tanaka's perspectice all he noticed was his flaws and his inability to perform. Projecting everything onto himself, a common feature of depression and mental stress in general. I love this realistic projection of a mind that is diving into negativity. And regarding the last line, she realized that Tanaka is honest and straight forward, to the point where him saying there is someone else, means there is truly someone else he is interesting in and that he will absolutely pursue this other person until the end. Also as a little sidenote, is just LOVE the fact that Shimizu gave Tanaka a sincere answer to his proposal. She wasn't emberassed, she wasn't weirded out, she genuinly respected his proposal and answered.
And there it is, my favorite soundtrack of the series, and it appears just this once. It's called "Back together," and I'd link it, but it'd get flagged as spam. I love how the melody is almost unrecognizable because of how much it's transformed, but it's note for note the same as the S2 track "Omnivorous," which, as Cast pointed out, first debuted when Tanaka started working on that cross shot. 😢
I actually had a whole edit of me just enjoying the OST this episode, but TH-cam adamantly refused to let me include it, even after like 4 separate versions. So it had to be ultra condensed :/ Definitely the most effective OST in Haikyuu for me so far ad far as emotional notes
Tanaka will always be one of my favorites, and I resonate with him so much. He reminds me a lot of the phrase "jack of all trades master of none but better than a master of one". I was waiting for your reaction to this episode!!
man i love these haikyuu reactions, i always like seeing people watching this anime but its always over the top or nothing at all. You have a great inbetween and i love the review/breakdnowns of the characters and episdoes. i dont know why you dont have a larger audience. keep it up 👍
I haven’t covered the really mainstream stuff (JJK, Demon Slayer, AoT) and such, which is part of it. I just wanna watch stuff I’ve never seen and give it an honest reaction! 😁 Thanks for watching!
Gosh I love this episode because of how they don't make it easy for Tanaka. Everytime Tanaka gets challenged we all think "ok but wait! He's going to succeed and prove you wrong!" And then the show decides to prove you wrong and push Tanaka even further into his tough position. It doesn't give you the easy solution and really makes you stew in the feeling with Tanaka, which only makes the resulting breakthrough all the sweeter. It's not easy, and that's why it's so satisfying. Also! I just love, that at 3:02, SHE THINKS ABOUT IT BEFORE REJECTING HIM XDDD like! I can't help but notice that everytime I rewatch/reread this scene! Even though his proposal is ludicrous, she STILL takes a few seconds to think about it!!! I love her so much!!!
You're half right about the last line. The main point is that Kanoka knows that Tanaka would never give up on something that he has set his sight on. And on that misunderstood rejection, Tanaka said that he has set his sight on another girl. So it's not that things wouldn't work out between them. It's that she knows that Tanaka would never give up chasing Shimizu.
You brought up a great point about resiliency + hard work and how you can feel at odds against natural talent or geniuses, and this episode felt like a spiritual continuation of that theme from season 2 with Oikawa vs Kageyama. Excellent reaction, as usual!
Love that you vaguely remembered Tanaka picking up Hinata when he's down and Hinata wanting to return the favor. In season 1 during the match against Aoba Johsai when Tanaka was getting targeted, Hinata actually thought about encouraging him, but Tanaka picked himself up faster. This time, Hinata just went for it :D
I think what you said is absolutely sound, but you read a bit too much into it. To me, it can be way simpler : - Though he did it because of the misunderstanding, Tanaka said "My heart is already taken by someone else" - She knows Tanaka is honest and straightforward guy, she realizes it anew here - Thus, even with the misunderstanding and everything, for him to say that, means he will not be hers. That's really all she needs. Also, I don't remember how much Kanoka is hyped in the anime, but the manga is very clear that she is a top level volleyball prospect, on the level of the Youth Camp where Ushiwaka, Kageyama, Atsumu and others have been. Like, future olympian level. To know that Tanaka gave her that future simply by being a nice, unprejudiced, honest boy, at such a young age, is really incredible to me. Even if he himself might never realize it. Anyways, as always I really like your insights, and you react to scenes in a way that is really resonating with my experience, for all series, and articulate thoughts I couldn't always. I really like how you approach all these !

Not an easy claim either, Noya/Daichi/Hinata are incredibly resilient!

regarding ur first point: Yes!! This is what makes it feel so real and just digs an even deeper hole of sentimental u get with this episode

A Goodwin TV has a similar vibe if you wanna check his reactions out!

by the end of the series we need a character tier list from you cast
I’ll give my top 5 in last episode!
@@CastSenpai LETS GOOO!!

Yup! Was referencing that moment ^^
one of my favorite episodes in the whole season because of how emotional and real it is
YESSS IVE BEEN SO EXCITED FOR THIS ONE!!! Probably my favourite episode of the entire series definitely top 3
I cried when tanaka scored and said "stand proud suna, you're strong"
As a volleyball player, Tanaka is the single more relatable character in the show for me. He feels like one of the realest characters for sure
I love your thoughts, your analysis, your POV! Doesn’t matter whether it’s right or wrong, it’s very nice to hear them.
I tear up every time i watch Tanaka’s moment 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
my favourite episode of the series, really shows the mental toughness required to play high level volleyball
