If you are considering becoming a Patron, we are currently 5 weeks (more than a full month ahead) on Haikyuu!! over there! I also just resumed my Steins;Gate uploads! Patreon is how I can continue to make videos, so all help is very much appreciated. You also get an exclusive Discord server access to chat with me about anything anime.
Cast ,if you have the time, pliz check the Shirotorizawa ending before you next Haikyuu reaction. It's a clip showing the aftermath of the defeat Shirotorizawa faced at their school gym. It's shows how much the third years are counting on the next set of players ( first years and second years) to carry the pride of Shirotorizawa. And might give you a lil glimpse of how Ushijima is not such a bad dude.
2:31 he didn't exactly say Lev's sister is "hot" he said 美人 (bijin) direct translation: Beautiful human. sure they do use it when they wanna point out a girl is super pretty (crush material) they use it for Shimizu too. so when Lev said "deshou!?" (I know right?) it's not that weird he just implied yeah my sis is pretty proudly.
Obligatory recommendation to read this part in the manga. Even if you didn't read anything else, these 2 volumes are a must (chapters 190-206) And yes, the art style changed here already. It's much closer to manga now. I'm still super frustrated with these OVAs. I'm glad we got to see Nohebi animated, but god damn did they do them dirty. Also just the sheer amount of cut-out stuff is sinful, honestly. Konoha didn't get his (deserved) spotlight as one of the pillars of Fukurodani, Yamamoto didn't get his (deserved) spotlight as the Nekoma ace, Nohebi were made into snakes first players second (even though nothing from what they did was against the rules), Kuroo standing up for Nohebi when other team trashtalked them... there's just so much and it really makes me worried about the movies. Btw. Daisho is actually a pretty nice and chill guy out of the court. It's a similar situation to Tendo and his on-court and off-court personas. But I'm glad you weren't immediately on Nohebi's back. There's nothing I hate more than people dismissing them as "just cheaters".
Not even going to lie, I am a fan of the "get in their heads" strategy through taunting. Done it many times myself. Part of the atmosphere of competition imo haha
Ngl I was frustrated with this adaptation too. The one that got this right and has fleshed out the characters more is the Haikyuu!! stage play run of this part (called "Tokyo no Jin" / "The Tokyo Matches"). It completely made sure that everyone who deserves the spotlight got their shine properly.
Animation changed from here on, they look more like the manga style. The Cats and Owls in the break are Kenma, Kuroo, Bokuto and Akaashi in animal style. And given that Tokyo is a huge place with lots of awesome schools, they can have 3 Teams for Nationals: Itachiyama, Fukurodani and Nekoma. The rest of the prefectures can only have one team, like Karasuno representing Miyagi prefecture.
Actually, 3 other prefectures get 2 spots (& it's not really for the size of the prefectures but more for the population density/# of total schools participating. Tokyo is the 3rd smallest in regards to size), so the total # of schools participating would be 52 (47 prefectures).
28:56 To give a bit information on Spring Nationals qualifiers. A total of 52 teams (well, 52 boys teams and 52 girls teams) compete in the tournament. The breakdown of the teams is as follow: 47 prefectural winners. Itachiyama represents Tokyo. 4 additional teams (2nd representatives) from larger prefectures (Hokkaido, Kanagawa, Osaka in RL [but Aichi in anime/manga], and Tokyo). Fukurodani is the 2nd representative. 1 additional team from hosting prefecture (usually Tokyo). This is how Nekoma qualified.
Since you noticed that Bokuto got bigger,i think it's a good time to talk about the change in artstyle (you probably already was told about this somewhere else). So for these OVAs and Season 4,the character designs changed to reflect the evolution of Furudate's artstyle, from skinny and round to beefier and blockier, with Bokuto in particular being noticibly bigger now compared to the gangly owl he was in Season 2. While it can be a bit jarring going from one style to the other, the transition is much smoother in the manga. You can even actualy kinda see change happen in real time when you compare the characters introduced in season 1,like the members of Aoba Johsai to the ones introduced in Season 3,like Tendou and Shirabu. The latter has a much "shaper" and "blockier" design, with their hair being basicaly one big shape instead of the more detailed hair of characters like Oikawa and Iwaizumi. Edit: Also yeah, the thing with Lev calling his sister hot is a bit of a mistranslation. What he was agreeing was to his sister being pretty.
3 teams make it through from Tokyo. Since Tokyo is a large province they get 2 representatives. Same for other large provinces. But since Tokyo is holding the Nationals this year. They get to have a venue representative. Meaning an additional team gets to participate in the Nationals from Tokyo as they are holding the nationals, this team being Nekoma this time.
Actually, Haru-Kou is almost always held in Tokyo, not only "this year". So, Tokyo always gets 3 spots (even for the yr that it was held in Saitama, they still kept their 3 spots).
A lot of people really dont like how season 4 looks. I like how season 4 looks, its a very accurate manga adaptation. I'm not a fan of how it moves though, I think s3 had the best animation haikyuu has had. However, there are certain points in s4 where the animation is spot on and I love it. S4 episode 12 is one of the best animated episodes in all of haikyuu.

"move your arm" that's literally the reason why yaku yelled at lev. lol

I actually quite like the new art style. It's still early, but it might actually be my preference!
@@CastSenpai I'm so happy to hear that! I'm personally more of a fan of the later art style, too, and it's nice to see it being appreciated ^^

I think Molten and Mikasa are in the credits because they have a license from those companies to use their volleyball designs in the show.

I think Lev was just (pridefully) acknowledging his sister's beauty, not really in a creepy way. lol
Love my boy Daishou, he's may be a slimy Slytherin little shit, but still. He lives on this tiny box inside my heart with Tsuki and Oikawa
Actually this arc in the manga make me love yamamoto so much but this OVA cut all his important character development :(
Waited so long bro❤️🔥
Day 1 of asking for oshi no ko and berserk.
