But for instance the same is with the bone saw, when he wanted to eat Will's brain. That was partly suggested by Bedelia but partly it was imo because Will tried to kill him before that. So he was reckless in a way in Season 3.
They should have stretched this for a half dozen seasons. They made the Hannibal films proud. Super unique show. My dad’s a chef from the Netherlands specialized in Italian and French cuisine. This version of hannibal’s classic culinary style cuisine really fascinated me. “ damn that looks delicious, oh wait it’s human parts! What the hell is wrong with me?!” That and the whole psychological thriller parts being as great as the original films.

I believe the reason that this scene was so effective in messing with the audience is because up to this point you never actually see hannibal kill someone like this he snaps some necks and split the doctors head open but we usually just saw the aftermath but this was the first time we see him in the act of it and it's shocking because as the audience we aren't used to seeing him so impulsive and well..........violent but here he just out of no where stabs him in the head and by the looks of it, it was unplanned unlike his earlier kills which are methodical and planned out but that's just my reading of it maybe I'm way off here

What i love about this scene is that Hannibal is such an egomaniac he can't brook any criticism from the professor. He kills him because his ego is so fragile to take any criticism from anyone, he has a Luciferian streak of pride a mile long. I didn't want him to kill the professor immediately. I wanted a few more episodes when the professor would be constantly excoriating and denigrating Hannibal in front of his peers. I think it's cool that Hannibal hit him right in the Optic Chiasm, severing both optic nerves in one go. I don't know the exact location and size but this spot is a key part of the signal from eyes to the brain. The professor was a very discourteous man. I think Hannibal was a bit imprudent to do it in front of his lady friend. I think he also should have counseled her not to remove the ice pick. Too much mess.

That would have been highly amusing seeing how Hannibal would react in public to the professors barbs.

Not a problem with his ego, but with the professor rude mannerism.Hannibal sometimes acts as a spoiled child, true, but usually respects and admire those who are able to "wound" him (psycologically especially) cause it makes them worthy of his attention rather then his curiosity, which is a more common social coin for him.The professor was rude from the beginning, offensive and ostile, uninterested to enstablish a connection but just eager to discredit, and so Hannibal acted the way he did (impulsivly because he was pissed with the professor and also emotional unstable due to his separation with Will).It's not a matter of ego, but of manners
I remember the professor did mention “ Non Italian Hands “ referring to Hannibal as a foreigner which is a bit racist , so i knew from that moment this professor is gonna be a meal for Hannibal anytime soon , turns out he was a meal for both Hannibal and some of his museum colleagues 😐 pretty screwed up tbh .. but it makes you really think twice before bullying or giving shit to anyone .
This scene shocked me so much because that was the moment Hannibal evolved on screen.
I think it's cool that Hannibal hit him right in the Optic Chiasm, severing both optic nerves in one go. I don't know the exact location and size but this spot is a key part of the signal from eyes to the brain.

I think Hannibal was a bit imprudent to do it in front of his lady friend. I think he also should have counseled her not to remove the ice pick. Too much mess.
