Has anyone noticed that the plating and the over all look of the food seems dull and not at all vibrant? Sure they look spectacular, but where other chefs create a plate that looks as colourful as a painting... Hannibal's plates look cold and cruel and devoid of life. But then again, I suppose that was what they were aiming for.
For me the craziest thing about him is that he obviously enjoys a humans organ meats the most. Animal organs are a NO for most people. Human meat doesn't taste all that good anyways.

You'd expect one to be horrified watching a scene of another cooking and preparing humans and then eating them. However, I always find these scenes majestic and elegant. The Vivaldi in the background, the delicious presentations, the tasty sounding recipes... they always make me feel hungry and somewhat guilty.

The incest in GoT appeared to be only a somewhat minor detail from time to time. Granted it did play a role in some situations, the entirety of show did not center on it.

I thought it impossible for anyone to play Hannibal lector but the one and only Anthony Hopkins..... but Mads Mikkelsen did a phenomenal job. It is hard to say who played the role better. They did an amazing job.
Honestly, this series reinvigorated my love of high end cooking. Coming from a cooking family I was trained in very high end procedures from little on. I decided living the life of a chef 24/7 wasn't for me, so I abandoned it all as a younger man. Season one put the spice back in high end cooking for me, very stimulated seasoning, I should say. Just a guess, but I think the seasoning makes the difference in taste, the duration of boiling, cooking, tenderizing makes the difference in texture, not admitting yourself the meat you eat is human flesh makes the difference in accepting it as everything else than human meat. Just an example: the meat of an elk or deer is stinky and so tough, if it is not done well you can tell at least, it was wild game. On the other hand, there is no amount of seasoning that can lessen the psychological damage.

I absolutely love the juxtaposition between our traditional notion of cannibalism, and Dr. Lectors care for the products. Typically, we view cannibals as flesh-eating dullards that are savages, but as a chef myself it’s so weird to see him treat produce so thoughtfully lol. I’m enamored and then I remember he’s eating humans and I cringe.
One of the things I find hard to believe about Hannibal Lecter is that despite being a psychopath he is able to deftly and capably navigate human social interaction without arousing suspicion. Another thing I find hard to believe is that after consuming so much human meat, he hasn't suffered any neurological damage from consuming misfolded prions.
Studies show that as long as you don't eat the human brain, it is safe to eat at least in terms of health risks if properly prepared. Prions only are an issue if you eat the brain. It is also possible to have an immunity to Kuru so that could be part of it.
Hannibal eventually gets found out in both this universe and the original. And like many other serial killers, hannibal is very charming. Ted Bundy is one simple example of a charming serial killer who was able to charm people easily

You could imagine how stimulating that would be to someone that thought themselves to have no equal walking the Earth. No benefit other than sustenance. Will provided the eyes that Hannibal lacked when it came to the human soul. He was the subjective to his objective.
Whatever the food they made for these scenes is actually made of, it looks fantastic. I wonder if they actually used the recipies Lecter has on the cards.
Honestly for a long time I was in a dark place when I found this show and part of me, in a way, started to turn into will's character. Something was so familiar and comforting about it because we had so much in common even though he is a fictional character. And as will's character started to change I changed with it. Thankfully I left the place I was at because I dont know what I would have done if I was stuck there for even a few more months but I still love this show so much. It's just a wonderful piece of art.
Honestly thank god you left the place because I don’t think we need another cannibal serial killer. But jokes aside, I hope you’re doing better now. And I’m proud of you for being aware of it and being able to leave that dark place

I would have liked to have seen season 4 where Hanibal is caught and imprisoned. The Warden would torture Hanibal by feeding him Swanson Hungry-Man dinners. When the warden was really cruel he would dole out the XXL Chicken fingers with chocolate brownie or Smokin' Backyard BBQ with corn niblets.
Where there is little pieces of corn and dribbles of BBQ sauce from the next tray over in the brownie.

There are only a few villains who can turn something normal into something truly chilling. The Joker laughing, Vader breathing, Hannibal eating.
His Hannibal is just so good. So very proper and analytical. He serves as both a major asset to the FBI and a mole on the inside at the same time.

Honestly, this series reinvigorated my love of high end cooking. Coming from a cooking family I was trained in very high end procedures from little on. I decided living the life of a chef 24/7 wasn't for me, so I abandoned it all as a younger man. Season one put the spice back in high end cooking for me, very stimulated seasoning, I should say. I'm not lying. My latest foray involves various preparations of sweet meats. Oh yeah!

The real question is how did he get what is effectively the same meat to taste like pork, beef, lamb etc
Just a guess, but I think the seasoning makes the difference in taste, the duration of boiling, cooking, tenderizing makes the difference in texture, not admitting yourself the meat you eat is human flesh makes the difference in accepting it as everything else than human meat. Just an example: the meat of an elk or deer is stinky and so tough, if it is not done well you can tell at least, it was wild game. On the other hand, there is no amount of seasoning that can lessen the psychological damage.

Kinda a surreal moment, when you realize you are seeing all these organs laid out to be eaten but the only reason you aren't horrified is the knowledge that they aren't human. Instead of horror you feel hungry haha
Easily one of the best TV shows of all time. It's so clever and intelligent without rubbing it in your face.
I absolutely love the juxtaposition between our traditional notion of cannibalism, and Dr. Lectors care for the products. Typically, we view cannibals as flesh-eating dullards that are savages, but as a chef myself it’s so weird to see him treat produce so thoughtfully lol. I’m enamored and then I remember he’s eating humans and I cringe.
One of the things I find hard to believe about Hannibal Lecter is that despite being a psychopath he is able to deftly and capably navigate human social interaction without arousing suspicion. Another thing I find hard to believe is that after consuming so much human meat, he hasn't suffered any neurological damage from consuming misfolded prions.

Why do you think he liked Will so much? Will represented his lost empathy, and because of this empathy, a lost part of Hannibal. Will was someone that had the ability to fully "undertsand" someone like Hannibal. You could imagine how stimulating that would be to someone that thought themselves to have no equal walking the Earth. No benefit other than sustenance. Will provided the eyes that Hannibal lacked when it came to the human soul. He was the subjective to his objective.

Honestly for a long time I was in a dark place when I found this show and part of me, in a way, started to turn into will's character. Something was so familiar and comforting about it because we had so much in common even though he is a fictional character. And as will's character started to change I changed with it. Thankfully I left the place I was at because I dont know what I would have done if I was stuck there for even a few more months but I still love this show so much. It's just a wonderful piece of art.

I remember eating when I watched this show. It is strange because I didn't always indulge in this practice, but there was something about this show's premise that makes those moments stay in my head.
Mr Hannibal Lecter is a great host, without the killing part. Polite, Generous and served guests with luxurious food, wine and china.

When Will said he didn’t find Hannibal interesting, there’s something so ominous and terrifying of the “You will.” Line that I just love
