Dude, you are quickly becoming my one of my favorite TH-cam car guys! I have a mk2 project that I just picked up, and this series is invaluable! Thank you SO much!!
Watching these videos makes me want a 1.8t swap so bad and you have nothing to be sorry man I don’t think anybody else has gone this in depth on TH-cam. Watching these videos has really boosted my confidence I can’t be more thankful.
Nice work. You should pickup a cheap small die grinder from HF or the like. Really helps to utilize the smaller cutoffs or grinding wheels in tight spaces. If you ever need to locate holes to drill that are 'blind' from the other side, a great trick that I've used for over 20 years is to put a dab of grease, paint, etc on the top of the studs of the shifter box, then put the box into position carefully. Whatever you put on top of the studs will be transferred in the exact orientation for you to drill. This trick works especially well when installing hood pins. Takes all the guess work and eyeballing out of the equation. HTH and keep up the great content bro!
Die grinder yes I need one. Putting that on the tools to buy list. And thanks for the tip with the grease or paint to locate the holes. That would of been a lot easier instead of beating the box up in there lol
Man, you make it all look easy! Great info and visual guide for all your videos. Wish you were in California, I'd hire you to work on my car or come help out free just to learn. Please keep these videos going, thanks!
Awesome work dude. For the o2j shifter box I would highly recommend the dieselgeek cable saver bushings for the cabin side shifter linkage. Makes everything feel nice and even more solid.
My question is about the sub frame. Do I need a sub frame from a mk3 Jetta? Or will the Passat parts car that I get my pedals from sub frame work ? Thank you for doing this series it has been very helpful.
@@JakeRawSon yeah. I got so mad working on mine when I first did that that I took the time to build 2x4 "show stands" to put under the wheels so I could get in there without feeling like I needed dinosaur arms.
Nice! I think you're going to hate yourself for not hooking up the steering box with the subframe though. I'm pretty sure you don't have room to get it on once the subframe is bolted in.
Like how much better is the 02j. Is this for track car or as a daily driver /Sunday cruiser ? is it worth doing? I never really though my stock corrado a2 gearbox was anyway bad
Can anyone tell me how to shorten the shifter cables. I am doing this swap in a Jetta 1 Coupé and no shifter cable fits is there a way to shorten these or do i have to order custom ones? Thanks
I always love working on mk2s. Mk2 are the best. Keep it going.

digging this series man, keep on going

Thanks I'll look into that
+1 for Diesel Geek. I had their shifter setup in my built b3 passat with the o2a trans/ box. Makes a substantial difference.
This shifter swap is something I've been planning for the corrado for some time now bro after I replaced the stock shifter for a replacement one.
It's 100% the best way to go
@@JakeRawSon yeah and no sloppy shifting..especially with a short shifter added to the upgrade!
Yeah when i swap the 12v into my g60 shifter swap is a must lol

Could put washers between shifter box and frame to drop those wires below that little ridge
Yes you can. I have a couple just didn’t show on film.
Well done Jake. Especially getting a camera in there.
Thank you. Ya I wish I had big tall jack stands on the rear like I do in the front.

I'm currently putting a vr6 in a 1999 beetle I'll get the motor in but let's see if I can wire it 😂

I have a 16v VW engine and I’m about to sea the gear o2j my cuestión is what kind of clutch did in fix in there
Nicely done 👍
Hi bud awsome work av been doing same set up it is high but was woundering could i cut the stem and thread it so its shorter for the boot to work
Yep that would work. Or don't suck it up so much when your tightening the bolts.
@@JakeRawSon what would i use spacers underneath also how did that rear bracket u mad work does it sit on top and screw in would it not rise up
@@scottishsniper1132 Ya I've used washers before.

To me it fills 100% better then any mk2, mk3 shifter. And the biggest bonus is you get to use the sigma 5
Jake RawSon what is sigma 5 ?
Diesel geek sigma 5 🙌🏼

Definitely going with O2J in my mk3. Seems like a cheap way to get a way nicer shifter.
Great! I LOVE working on MKIIs 😁
Great video!
Thank you
@@JakeRawSon You are welcome.
Amazing video, th so much!
your welcome. glad it helped
You make it look so easy 😉
Thanks I cut out a lot of time it takes to get every thing set up.
Did you use both MK3 sub frame and front crossmember?
By the way I like your channel I subscribed to it🤟🏼
Front crossmember is mk2
8N0 711 046
Audi part number for 02j short shift linkage
Were you able to use the old Mk2 straps to bolt up the Mk3 tank?
Gstar63 yes
Can anyone tell me how to shorten the shifter cables. I am doing this swap in a Jetta 1 Coupé and no shifter cable fits is there a way to shorten these or do i have to order custom ones?
Thanks
How does the mk3 subframe differ from a mk2 one? Is it possible to use the original mk2 one?
It's possible the passenger side motor mount is different.
Do you know if that shifter box will work with a 020 trans ?
Not sure. Haven't seen anyone do it
Why do u use the mk3 subframe?
It's better for MK4 engines
👍👍👍👍
Hello from Russia! Can you tell me where i can download color schemes?for cie 2
a2resource.com
2:46 Jake can’t find the hole....🧐🤨
I prefer manual steering you can get 5 hp more not using the steering pump
Stinky garage means trouble with the wife. Know the feeling
Send me the manual conversion lol
Lol I keep going back and forth if I’m going to change it out.
@@JakeRawSon yeah i need to get in there and loop it. Im already bypassing the pumo
