    Great video, When you plug the ipad in.. please put it into a timer socket so it's only charging for an hour a day. If you have it plugged in charging 24/7 you will kill the battery and potentially risk a fire in your house.

    I have to say I am not the biggest Ecotech Marine pump fan. My MP10’s have gone through 3 wetsides in less than 18 months. My Vectra return pump broke down at 15 months. The Vectra has been replaced and I will swap the MP10’s out when they next fail. Annoyingly my pumps keep losing connection with Mobius also. Your setup is looking great though.

    I have found the best way to find tune the alignment of my Ecotech pumps is to touch the centre back of the dry side and if it’s warm then it’s probably slightly out of line and moving it just a fraction you will feel the pump cool down to next to no heat almost instantly if it’s fuller aligned if not then try the opposite direction.

    Quick question: Aren't 4 MP60 a bit overkill for that tank, or do you recon that with full grown colonies you'll be needing that amount of flow? Do you think you'd be limited with 4 MP40?

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      great question. I ultimately went for the 60's for a few reasons:
      1. I find they are a better made pump than the 40's
      2. Their magnets are much more comfortable on 19mm glass than 40's (even though 40's can do it)
      3. At the same flow, the 60's make no sound compared to the 40's
      4. I don't want to add more pumps than this down the line. With the 60's I have epic flow on tap, in my last tank I had to keep adding more powerheads to keep up with flow as the tank grew in. Became a logistical challenge to keep it all neat :)

  • @sawyerbreslow8487
    @sawyerbreslow8487 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the child flow rates are suppose to be 100% otherwise they will be a percentage of the parents flow. In your case on 30% of the parents flow. You can check the flow(lph)of each pump by clicking into each pump.

  • @i2ik
    @i2ik 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Any reason you went with mp60 to put them in the back? Would a mp40 be enough since you are using the mp60 at a low GPH?

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah for sure, I went the mp60’s for three reasons:
      1. 19mm glass. I know the 40s can do 19mm glass, but the 60s are much more “comfortable” at that thickness
      2. Whilst not using a lot of flow now, I expect to be in future once the coral grows out. I don’t want to have to add more and more pumps to keep up - these I can dial up when needed.
      3. The 60s feel like a better product than the 40s. Not sure if it is just me, or because it is a larger pump or what, but the 60s seem a better engineered pump :)

    • @ParkersReef
      @ParkersReef  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Certainly! Three major reasons:
      1. Ability to turn them up later once coral grows in
      2. Better magnet strength on 19mm glass
      3. I feel the MP60s are higher quality, they seem like the pump that the system was designed for then they tried to make it smaller for the 40 and 10 (totally just my observation, no fact whatsoever)

      These pumps are horrendously unreliable I saved up to buy two mp40s and they each lasted less than six months. Just dreadful cost to quality ratio, just read the forums for furious customers. I think they only get promoted as given away for free or that retailers get a healthy margin on selling them. Just terrible.
