    Ok.. During that whole scene with Martin’s sacrifice and jeep setting on fire, I was expecting the lion to survive. But what I didn’t expect was for him to come out PRACTICALLY UNSCATHED!! That car was completely engulfed in flames and that lion comes out with just a few burns and looking roughly just like he did before. I was expecting the lion to come out looking burnt to a crisp and badly injured with his mane mostly burnt off and even more enraged. I personally think that would’ve added to the horror in this movie that the lion should be dead, but it’s been driven so far into madness that it simply refuses to die.

    The lion would become my hero if he had eaten the oldest daughter. She was the singular most insufferable character. Mare was just so self-absorbed, to the point that she was willing to tell her dad “don’t make promises you can’t keep“ just to be a brat! I was rooting for the lion at that point

    5:50 I think Martin's non-reaction is just part of his character. Been following an Afrikaans TH-camr from South Africa lived in China. from what I gathered, they are used to dealing with violence and death. And the movie does reveal Martin's backstory more when they run into the proachers, so when he was explaining the situation to Nate, he was not scared by the deaths, but, amist confusion, trying to piece together what happened and what action he's taking. Later he choose to go off alone, to either stop the lion or kill the proachers.

      I think his lack of reaction might also have smth to do with him... Most likely having done off a few humans himself prior to the events of this movie so imo, it's pretty likely that he's already more desensitized then a regular individual would be living in a bad area. Later in the car after he was attacked though? I think a lotta that could be attributed to shock and blood loss as I know what shock feels like and that does tend to cause under reactions to the situation after the initial panic fades. Luckily, haven't gone into shock from anything serious though, I'm just hemophobic and have fainted over a small scratch before ^^' which sucks ngl but ig it can be mildly amusing in hindsight

      Tigers would definitely be scarier. Hell, even a female Mountain Lion that gets injured by a farmer while searching for food for her cubs, who shoots it because its on his property, and instead of dying it just has a hurt leg because of it and it then goes on to kill all these people and uses them as food for her cubs. She then ends up being put down in a hard-fought battle against that same old farmer and his son. Then, they realize she had cubs and the cubs then one day will be raised in captivity. That could be something.
      Or like the female Tiger who was actually injured and then went on to kill a bunch of kids and had them fed to her cubs. All had to be put down.

    Gotta hand it to this movie and that it’s FAR more superior than most mainstream Hollywood movies. Most of them depict animals as being these mindless killing machines who for some reason always have a taste for human flesh. In this movie however the animal has a motivation as to why it’s doing this and it makes it a little more realistic. Still outlandish compared to real life, but still more realistic than movies like The Meg or Piranha.

    I feel really bad for the lion. I’ve actually seen a lion lose their family, this female baby lion who we called “Pandy” and she and her entire family were white lions (so albino), her family was killed by poachers because they’re albino and albino animals are rare so they want to kill them to have them as trophies and get money (which is really messed up, imagine being killed just to be made into a trophy for money), she was the only one who we could help and she grew up to trust and love us, one time a poacher snuck in the “enclosure” (idk how else to word it so imma just say that) and tried to kill Pandy, but Pandy ended up killing him (karma bitch). And for some reason she was gonna be executed on a certain day for defending herself, we had to convince so many people she wouldn’t do this again and we continued to raise her well, we just told people that they shouldn’t sneak in. However she was sadly executed anyway and I’m still torn up about that
    So I can almost feel for the lion “beast” in this movie, he had his family killed by poachers, he thought he could trust humans and was proven wrong, and he just wanted to get revenge for his family and just went wild and broke down and went insane. And more people tried to get in his way and attack him for also right reasons, no side is really in the wrong, I feel really bad for him

  • @badsaturnz23
    @badsaturnz23 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The thing about the movie that I found to be super frustrating were the daughters, mainly the older one. Throughout the movie they stayed causing problems and not listening to their dad 😂
    Like one of the scenes that just made me facepalm is when they were all basically trapped in the car or in some type of danger (I forget exactly when) and thats when the older daughter decided to start an argument about their mom.
    Then there's the countless times where the girls are told "stay there" and they just go and ignore it. Like it's that the older daughter managed to save Martin, but had the lion not been distracted, she'dbe dead.

    Can confirm on the horse biting. When I was 8 I went to a horse ranch and was petting a horses nose too close to its mouth and it clamped down on my hand. It was like a fucking vise and no matter how hard i tried I couldn’t get it to let go. I started crying immediately and one of the ranch hands came over and helped me get my hand out of its mouth but it took him, my mom’s friend (who’s a pretty big guy) and myself to get loose. I still adore horses, I wasn’t mad at it it was my fault, but man that shit hurt like hell.

    All right so I washed the movie and here's what I think about it I loved it I loved how it felt natural a traumatized lion who's defensive it didn't ever feel like it was a supernatural creature it was just a lion the ending was amazing and I felt physical pain anytime the medical scenes happen especially the one with the hand sanitizer I'm sad that Martin died I really thought he was going to live and I'm also impressed with the work they did it's actually possible that a lion could survive that because he wasn't in the initial blast radius he could have ran away and just gotten Burns I'll be it he shouldn't have been running around and sprinting after that but still he would have been alive probably while not the most likely outcome it is it is an outcome and it's possible oh yeah and I almost forgot to add I had to edit this I didn't feel like any of the characters were stupid that's a problem I have with most horror movies I like them but I hate how the characters make the most dumb decisions but in this movie they make really smart decisions like Idris grabbing the gun or Nora stabbing the lion with a tranquilizer dart in the ass yes

    If you love animal attack movies, may I suggest “The Ghost and the Darkness”. It's an old movie from 9g with Val Kilmer and Micheal Douglas and it is based on a true story of a lion attacking humans in 1898.

    Also i think maneating animals are smarter them we think there almost human but smarter take gustave the maneating Croc from Burundi he is crazy smart and is able to out smart all the trappers and hunters he had after him

    9:59 I understand where your coming from with the window but it’s not a automatic window it’s the window you have to manual wind up yourself, by the time you try to wind it up the lion (with its acute sense of hearing) he would’ve made out where on the car the sound is coming from and they would be in the same place as they are right now, what I would do is not wait for the lion to hop on the car, as soon as I hop in the car and the lion hits the window the open window is what I’m going for first, but I can’t say it will end differently or the same way, I do agree with you on this though but with the Lions great senses they would be in the same place as they are right now

    I feel the window scene was great because in that situation i don't think any normal human would be able to think fast enough to think about closing the windows because i mean- you're being attacked by a lion- you're in shock from fear.

    Haven't seen this movie yet, but I do intend on watching it looks interesting. The only thing I will say is there are no recorded cases of multiple male lions in the same Pride mature or not this would never happen.
    However, there are times when brothers will stick together throughout their life but they never join prides it is just a group or pair of 2 - 3 male lions.
    Also lions don't really "hold grudges" like that I mean it's all fun a games good movie story well done but the only know cases of big cats behaving that way that title goes to the tiger Bangal to be exact they do this quit often actually.

    The films is a message that the real villain wasn’t the lion it was the poachers. Imagine you spending tine with your family and all of sudden they get taken away from you. How would you guys feel if that happened to you. Me personally I would’ve wanted revenge.

    Hey @Alteori. I know you typically do only movie reactions, but given your analytical and emotional mindset which is amazing as insightful content to watch; have you considered watching and reacting to music videos?? If so; I'd recommend and a "one-off' maybe....reacting to the band Sabaton Christmas Truce. If you understand WWI and/or WWII history and see this; you'll know what their song is about and good god this will hit the emotions hard.

    • @karmamaster1515
      @karmamaster1515 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sabaton is a symphonic metal band that really touches of historical events and they do it in a way that is NOT edgy. It is surprisingly emotionally insightful. I'd suggest taking a look at it.

    While I like the fact that it all ended with baiting the lion towards a resident pride, realistically, this would’ve happened faster. The moment those brothers heard or smelled him (let’s be honest, he wasn’t being subtle) in their territory, they would’ve tracked him down and either chased him out, or if he refused to leave, kill him. Best aspect of the film was bringing awareness to the lion bone trade. While not explicitly stated, it’s risen due to the scarcity of tigers, so poachers will kill lions and sell the parts as tiger parts. It’s caused West African populations to be critically endangered and is also affecting leopard and jaguar populations in some areas.

    While I can understand Mare's bitterness to a point, one scene where she pissed me off was when Nate promises Norah that they will be ok. Mare then essentially rips into him, implying that he is making a false promise by bringing up that he had promised Norah that her mother wouldn't die. Hell, even NORAH tells her to shut the hell up

    "Exists"

  • @jamaul1391

    The story in this movie is actually what tigers do in real life, I've read about one case in Russian, a hunter had shot and injured a tiger and then took it's prey, and because of that, the tiger stalked him and even went as far as following his sent back to his home and waited there for almost 2 days for him to come home, and when he got there, it caught and tore him to pieces then ate him, I guess it ate him cause it was hungry after he stole it's meal, but that shows how vengeful tigers are, and you might think that their orange color doesn't really do much in camo but it actually does, I saw this video of a tiger attacking some people on a elephant back, like you didn't see it until it leeped like 10ft in the air and sliced up one of the guys hand with it's claws, like you heard it's roars but didn't see it, not even the moving of the grass as it ran towards them but I guess that's because when you see a tiger, note that he was already stalking you an hour ago and the end is near😂

    about the guy who found his 'friends' dead he has a hint of shock but hes rationalizing lion behavior he mostly seems on high alert not really focusing on his friends being dead so i dont think it had a chance to hit him as to why the girl wandered off shes a kid its what they do as for them leaving the school door open they probably think the lion is dead i mean the fall alone should have killed it but then on top of that it was ingulfed in a Firey blast like how is it NOT dead lol that aside despite my comments on your comments about the movie i love your vids
