+Rachel & Jun I've been to this place!! It was sooo beautiful! I went here a year ago and it was one of the best moments in my life. But you have to know the boat was a bit shaky, it was quite windy and yeah it rained a bit...it was quite an unlucky day for me,I am very terrified by the idea of deep water ( I know the water isn't that deep but still scary!!!) . But nothing happened and I'll return next year.
Sharla in Japan I lived in Aomori :) It snows a ton there but gosh it's so beautiful...I moved right when they were going to have the cherry blossom festival at Hirosaki so I missed it. :( I lived literally next to the castle!
I love the videos of the Japan countryside. Maybe it's not fair - but I feel like cities are cities everywhere in the world and it's the nature parts that are most beautiful and unique to a country.
+Porco Rosso I grew up in Toronto and have been to NYC twice. I'm not so fussed about visiting big cities - though I think really old cities in Europe or the Middle East would be amazing to visit.
+Lezley Davidson Can't agree more. In tokyo I was pretty bored (I had a great time too) but when I went to the countryside, I got to see another side of Japan. In tokyo people were pretty cold, just like people in my city (i live in a metropolitan city so I know how people in city are like) and they were pretty much indifferent of our presence. But in the countryside of japan they welcomed us with tremendous warmth and it felt like paradise on earth.
The impression left on me because of his singing--the green cliffs, blue, blur waters, the slow pace--it was amazing. I would've loved to have come along in that boat ride.
I really enjoyed this video. I've seen Rachel and Jun's clips from this place and I really would love to see it someday. Also, BIG thank you for filming the guide singing! That was wonderful. EDIT: As someone who enjoys singing myself, I can only imagine what it feels like to sing in a place like that where your voice comes back at you off the rocks like that. The feeling of it is almost like a natural high.
Going to Japan next summer and this video just got me even more excited! Will definitely be adding this spot to the list of places to visit. Thanks for sharing!
This video was amazing! Not just this video is inspirational but ALL of your videos are :) Ever since I came across yourself on TH-cam and other lovely J-Vloggers my interested in Japan has totally increased :) Thanks for sharing your experiences!
In awe of your mad editing skills, Sharla! Also you were so adorable trying your darnedest to throw the rocks in the hole - it looked so hard! Love your channel; thanks for all of your effort.
SHARLA OH MY GOODNESS SOO MANY VIDEOS LATELY IM SO HAPPY! This is such a beautiful place, I'm so ready to move to Japan. I'm probably going to sound like a mom or something here, but oh well... I'm just really proud of you, I've been a subscriber for quite a few years now and I'm so proud of how far you've come. You deserve 20 gazillion subscribers. Just thought I'd let you know that you're amazing. Thank you for sharing your life in Japan with us.💕💫
hey im Michael Ney from Puerto Rico just saying hello nice video, thanks for this and all the video's, i have learned and seen sow much of japan thanks to you, chris, Rachelle, jun and all the other youtubers! :)
Thank you for sharing your beautiful trip! That is such a lovely place, I would love to visit someday. There are so many really great places to see everywhere, places that aren't touristy or are just unexpected. We love to find odd little museums or towns to visit when we travel.
I've only started watching your video's today, and i have to say i must have watched a good 20 vid's so far, love what you produce you show japan extremely well, i hope to come and stay there one day myself, thanks for your hard work keep it up Tohoku looks beautiful
wow, it's so gorgeous! I'm usually more about the hustle and bustle of the city, but I have a strong appreciation for natural beauty and this reminds me of the lovely rivers and springs we have here in Florida. We don't have big rocks and mountains like that though. It gives off such a lovely vibe, even through video. I will definitely be visiting when I make it out to Japan!
Wow I definitely want to try and go there the next time I visit Japan. Thanks for your awesome videos, I really enjoy them and like to fill my days off with watching them :)
Goodness, there's just so many interesting and beautiful places to visit in Japan... I think it'll take me a really long time to see them all, yet another one I need to add to my list xP Thank you, Sharla!!
nice, one of the places I am considering visiting in my next trip in Japan. A Japanese friend recommended me this place and after seeing your video I will try to come to Geibikei for sure.
Thanks Sharla, I really loved this video! I plan on going to Japan for a couple months and this is definitely a place I want to visit! I hope you make more videos on places like this's!
I'd love to live in Miyagi if I ever end up living in Japan. The Tohoku prefecture really reminds me of home (Scotland) while at the same time being so culturally rich. It looks like the perfect place to live. :')
I would love, love, love to come here! I've been to Tokyo and I agree about how it's very pop culture and party like. Too loud and busy for me, I'm more of a suburb type of person.
What an amazing place to visit! Hopefully, some day, I will be able to experience it in real life! But, if not, at least I got to experience it through you! The boat Captain, I guess he would be called, had a beautiful voice! I wasn't expecting that! Again, thank you for making this video and taking us on all of your journeys. I hope the wish you guys wrote down on the plaque, comes true!!
See this is one of the main reasons why I want to go to Japan yes I would love to see cities like Tokyo and Osaka but this is just so lovely nature is so beautiful and so relaxing I live in a city and the over crowded area really gets to ya lol it's nice to escape it once in a while and just enjoy earths beauty :) definitely gonna go here if I get the chance✨✌🏻️
Your videos have really inspired me to teach myself basic Japanese. It's going to be a long road, but it's such a wonderful culture and language and your videos have really made me look at that in depth!
We were there 3 weeks ago. A very nice day out. We went to Matsushima after Geibekei. The only westerners on the boat. We found the train back was going to take a long time to get there so we ventured off piste and got on a bus. The JR Rail passes worked on the bus.
I am loving your videos more and more, Sharla! Thank you so much for making videos that explore different areas of Japan, it's so lovely to see what the countryside is like, and it's inspiring to watch :) I've always wanted to visit more rural areas of Japan, so you're giving me some great ideas to add to my list!
Sharla, My husband and I visited Geibikei Gorge last week and spent a few days up in Sendai thanks to your videos! Thank you for showing the world northern Japan!
I love the outdoor countryside in Japan. it looks like something out of a painting as well as it seems so tranquil too. so different from tokyo's rhythm.
I went to Tokyo for summer vacation, and you came to my town. That's such a coincidence! I like Geibi-kei. But I since I live here, it's just too common place. Like, it's not special to me because I can go there whenever I want, ya know? But visiting Meiji-Jinja and Asakusa, Akihabara, Harajuku, that was exciting for me because I've wanted to do it since I came to Japan 2 years ago. I agree, though, I highly recommend people visit Tohoku. We have some beautiful shrines and temples too. There's a 4 temple pilgrimage that takes you to some of the best temples in Tohoku, though Zuiganji is still under construction. Two temples in Hiraizumi, one in Yamagata, and Zuiganji in Matsushima. There's so much to see up here. I'm so glad so many youtubers are highlighting Tohoku!
I second Sharla's recommendation to Geibikei Gorge. I've been there in the fall and it's absolutely gorgeous. During the winter you're given a choice to take the trip with a kotatsu and nabe.
Definitely gonna visit Tohoku next time I'm in Japan and hope it's gonna be sooner than later. Really enjoying this road trip series, all the places you'd been so far look beautiful but this gorge is a must see!
+Hector Ventura Yesss! Hopefully these videos will give you some ideas of spots you should visit there :D But even just driving (or riding a train) through it would be awesome. The scenery is beautiful~
I LOVE seeing new vids from you in my sub feed! You do such an amazing job showing really interesting locations and activities that I have never heard or read about before ^.^ Keep up the great work xoxo
あの場所はとても綺麗!Thank you for sharing this video with us. I recall you saying that you lived in the Iwate Prefecture before. I'm going to be studying abroad at 岩手大学 this year and I was wondering if you could tell me how far away from Iwate is that place. I would very much like to visit that place while I'm there.
"Go on Sharla you can do it" - that enthusiasm, lol. I live in Tohoku but I've never heard of this place! It looks gorgeous! I'd love to visit one day :)
Hey! just recently came across your TH-cam channel, great videos! I'll be making a trip to Tokyo in November and have been doing research and watching other videos of Japan to prepare. keep up the good work!

It's so beautiful, I'm feeling a little misty eyed about it. I really hope to go there some day with someone special.
Looks so nice traveling Japan with other people who have a great interest in the culture and country
I found the whole idea to be very pleasant- just riding the river and enjoying the fresh air. I'd love that right now.
Very beautiful and peaceful place! Thanks for the vid.
Wow, Listening to him sing and just listening to the sounds was amazing and extremely relaxing
In awe of your mad editing skills, Sharla! Also you were so adorable trying your darnedest to throw the rocks in the hole - it looked so hard! Love your channel; thanks for all of your effort.
