I love the new Camo, glad they stuck with something similar to EMR, it definitely needed a slight color palette update though. I’ve used EMR here in Minnesota a lot and it’s excellent for the deep woods and hills of the north but down south where it’s all plains and farmland (looks almost exactly like Ukraine in a many ways) it’s just too dark, you stick out immediately next to wheat fields and open plains.
I think the camo of the VKPO 3.2 is the best of both worlds, combines old EMR camo pattern with multicam colors. It seems like it would be effective like the multicam and at the same time will give RU troops just enough difference from other multicam that it will distinguish them from other forces. The only negative is that the RU MoD will not have the resources to supply most of the troops with it at least in the next few years and they will continue using a mixture of all available uniforms so far and a tied white or red band on the arms and legs.
Multi-camo or multi-terrain are most effective for today's style of warfare! In the old days, a soldier would be posted in one area only which is why the need for a specific camo. Nowadays, soldiers are expected to be super-soldiers, expected to fight in any and every terrain! I look forward to purchasing these featured camos.
I'm gonna miss the green EMR, now we're gonna need tapes alone to see who's which side since everyone is adopting these multicam-esque styles. (referring to the fact the EMR version is likely gonna be far less used.)
These new systems may be very pragmatic but they really loose that "old school" aesthetic factor that characterized russian army gear. 2000s Masking suits, 2010s Gorkas and ratnik vests and helmets will always be the peak. To me at least.
Hello Ivan, can you make a video about the Austrian Anzug 03 clothing system? The winter weight pants and jacket are some of my favorite pieces of surplus.
Great video! I love EMR, particularly the arctic version which I use to ski. I must try get my hands on the next arctic one. Hopefully, they start making it soon!!
EMR is like wearing absolutely cheap ghillie without it being so annoying, it's super reliable fairly, they just need to make a variant that's charcoal black so it fits in with the muddy fields
Everyone switching to mutltcam the US is going to have the same issue that we did with m81 but this time we aren’t allowed to create new camo patterns because of new laws so we might see the US army having to go back to UCP not as camo but more as an identifier to lots of ISR platforms as the US uses a lot of ISR stuff in war and would be worried of fratricide then hiding troops. Idk why but it almost reminds of the Thanos meme. “ You could not live with your own failure. Where did it bring you ? . Back to me” but thanos is UCP camo 😭😂
That pattern is similar to an experimental one trialled by West Germany in 1976. It was the same Flektarn pattern that's been in use since the 90's, but was just in shades of light and medium greens.
Regarding the expeditionary backpack, does it come in three sizes or in one size with an easily adjustable system? If the latter, in between what lengths does it adjust (say, 165-195cm)?
Although it's probably a wise decision for Russia to move out from another Multicam while getting rid of old EMR (which to just dark blop), I still believe they could use Мох camo which has better camouflaging properties.
I would say the uniform is based on a voin, worn by sso and carrier heavily inspired by point blank design origin in that armour connects the same way and all protective add-ons are similar like 2 piece shoulder and groin protection. Camo looks like aor wich was designed for army trials actually, and is good for all terrain.

I spent thousands on a nearly complete set of Ratnik gear...now its obsolete. Lol im sure some older Ratnik stuff will still be used in secondary roles or reserve troops.
I am in the same boat. But worry not. It won’t be obsolete for the next few years. Legioner ( new program) just started, so officially Ratnik is still active and in production. Only uniforms getting changed quite often.
Its typical of Soviet/Russia to evolve thier equipment and ideas. Making suttle improvements here and there so Ratnik was going to become obsolete eventually. EMR camo will still be greatly used, just newer designs cuts of the fabric. My concern is being an American, it will be impossible to get newer stuff. Difficult and or expensive. But I have already seen a few pieces on eBay already, particularly the newer summer like boots. Of course they are Ukraine sellers...I am not fond of funding the Ukrainian cause if you know what i mean. I dont like the idea of anything off of any fallen solider.
