I've been waiting for someone to articulate why I loved this game so much and you did it perfectly. I'll never forget this gaming experience, and only hope more will be able to experience it too
Great video! Something that hit me right in the heart was the line "It is a game that shows all the beauty to behold in all the little things" If this game has taught me anything, it is that.
I just beat the game, and I loved it. The combat's kinda simple, but that's what it needs to be. It's a plot with a game, not a game with a a plot. The "game" part just adds to the experience and makes it better. Great video; the fantastic video essays are always from smaller channels. Glad I found this :>
On and off since the game's release, I've been looking for a video essay for Eastward, and this may be the first I've found. I'm late to your video, but excellent work.
The game is so beautiful, and I love how it takes its time. I love it when a game lets you simply exist in the world. A great example is the wedding quest in the Witcher 3 or walking around your settlement in AC Valhalla. It's so much better than nonstop, Call of Duty style action.
Very nice video, I am a huge fan of the gameboy advance and its library my favorite game from it is Kirby nightmare in dreamland. The beauty both in the pixel art and music in that game truly captivated me as a kid and has made me look forward to games that use the pixel art medium like eastward which has some of the most beautiful pixel art the industry has ever seen.
Having grown up with a Sega Genesis, comparing Eastward to GameBoy Advance games gives me mixed feelings. GameBoy Advance was *already* paying homage to the 16-bit style. Although it's actually a 32-bit system. Which might be why I wasn't as keen on the GBA--On paper it sounded as powerful as a PS1, but didn't look like it. I'd probably appreciate the system better if I played it for the first time, now. Love my New 3DS, though.
well i was waiting for the game when i saw the first announcement for it i said: i should play this game no matter what so when i played it i was a little bit disappointed the talking was the worst thing, yea i like to read but i can't play the game i can't do nothing i need always to read for 5 minutes, two characters talking about nothing and it's so long and everything is slow the elevator the train every cutscenes in the game thank god for the Forward button, it's waste of time actually but it's a cool experience you can play it to waste your time while waiting for silksong (you know that's my opinion and it's right)
When you mentioned dragon quest and not saying anything about earthbound is kind of pmo. It’s shows your age I guess. I understand what you were referring to in the image. But holy cow. How can you not mention earth bound
Eastward is a game I only played once, but think about almost every day. It really is unique and special.
I just finished Eastward and I enjoyed it more than I did many modern triple A titles. The game is truly something special, a real gem
excellent video! i love Eastward so much, it's a beautiful game that i only found out about recently, but fell in love with so fast
