Eastward is one of those games that you show people that either dont consider videogames to be art, or think pixel art is somehow obsolete to 3D games.
I Love Eastward, this game just helped me with my Sad time in 2021. I've made 100% on Steam and still play It sometimes. I'ts awesome see that other people loved It too
Eastward is the most visually impressive game I ever played. I love the characters, music and environments so much. The only game that had similar impact on me is xenoblade 2.
Mother 3 and Eastward look amazing but this video feel very shallow. Mother 3 wasn't just suddenly the "magnum opus" of pixel art and Eastward is more than just "updating" pixelart by using more colors and higher resolutions. Definetely a clickbait title too, apparently the answer to the question is "just make the game with the best pixel art in the industry" great. Don't get me wrong, the modern role of pixel art is a very interesting topic, but i don't think you're doing it justice by taking one game (and getting the protagonists name wrong) and just saying this newer game is the same but better with a few fun facts thrown in, i mena if you had the guy in interview there was potential for this to be a great source of information for upcoming pixel artists and devs this video is apparently aiming for. Especially the examples were weird. That Dino scene has a ton of other visual information like the exegerated fall and the delay you could have mentioned and the crate animation is not that impressive in the scope of the game, you don't just multiply frames because there are seperate moving parts, it's a fine animation but there are constantly much more impressive ones on screen like the walk animation that would be worth analyzing but i guess you couldn't just say a big number then. The video is fine for what it is but if you go in expecting to learn anything about actually doing pixel art or game developement it's a miss
eastward needs to become an online game if they want to see crazy success. imagine being able to unlock items, clothing and trade. an open world with this amazing pixel art
Eastward is beautiful aesthetically, but really a chore to play. It remained relatively niche because reading all that useless dialogue by one-off characters really makes it tough to see everything it has to offer, and gameplay speaking, mother 3 is leagues ahead. The art is everything here, and it shows for sure, but I really don't know how many players will see it

Eastward is painfully unseen and underrated. This game will forever be in my top fav games forever now!

Honestly I agree w you on other people loving this game too. I wish eastward gets more attention. It’s too great
Carried me through the winter. Although I still gotta to back and finish it. That RPG minigame was brutally difficult, but extremely nostalgic and fun
@@derekhart410 earthborn fr is hard but its fun
Does the game have more graphic options on PC then switch? I beat the switch version game, was really fun I’ll hope the devs can make another game
I didn't expect to tear up while watching a video essay about pixel art, and yet I did. Amazing job here!
