In this video, I go through some of the considerations you ought to make when choosing an online powerlifting coach.
It's important to consider a number of different factors when choosing a powerlifting coach.
Firstly, if you are a beginner, I would highly recommend you find someone that's local to you who you can work with in person.
Not all coaches are built the same and it's important to acknowledge that what a specific coach offers varies greatly from coach to coach. You might get more out of a coach who isn't as skilled but offers a higher level of service or product.
One thing I didn't say is that the fact a coach has numerous high-achieving clients could be interpreted such that they are highly sought after. I mean, if many top athletes are choosing them as their coach, that's a pretty big endorsement, and I respect that.
    0:37 - If you're a beginner
1:12 - Not all coaches offer the same service or product
3:22 - It's important to enquire with each coach to find out what product they offer
3:48 - What are you looking to get out of your coaching service?
4:35 - You might be wasting your money paying for a "premium service" if you don't want or need it
5:12 - I would recommend against choosing a coach based on the elite athletes they coach
5:40 - My experience coaching Brett Gibbs
6:56 - Try to assess the trends of a coach's clients rather than their "highlights reel"
8:08 - A good coach shows success with lifters of all levels on AVERAGE
    8:35 - Survivorship bias
9:18 - A good coach can take those of weaker genetics and elicit results from them
9:50 - To look at the success a coach has only with their elite clients isn't a fair assessment
10:21 - Social media is the highlights reel
10:44 - My hesitation to share the success of my clients
11:58 - So how do we go about choosing a powerlifting coach? A summary
13:02 - Be thorough with your enquiry

I choose you over a 6 or so month process, I liked how you coached me in person firstly before coming over as a online client

John I appreciate your content. Good quality content as always. Keep it up.
Also, if you can, I am interested in hearing your perspective on how you do maintain strength when all gyms are closed.
For Me I do sprints, push ups, and pull ups.

I’ve seen couches that charge 100+ dollars a month and only give you a video critic once a week, I don’t care how strong you are but you aren’t getting my money. There’s many couches out there choose wisely and don’t go with someone for their celebrity states.

So what does your typical coaching look like? Is it more of a day in day out relationship, or more of a programming relationship

I kind of got fked over. Hired some bodybuilding coach that was reputable on Instagram and that was going for his IFBB pro card. The dude never delivered on his promises and overall seemed like he didn't care. There was a weekly check in that he pretty much ignored and never gave feedback for. Really gave me a sour taste of these online coaches. It was like $400-$600 usd for 4 months (can't remember).
