Installing the interior front door handle on a 1999 Toyota Sienna minivan after it cracked and broke off :(
It turned into a pretty easy fix.

Great video, Thank You! I just replaced the inside driver's side handle on my 1998 Sienna with 290,000 miles on it. I already replaced an outside sliding door handle and the rear door handle, all thanks to you and your videos. This last project took me only 13 minutes. The shortened time was because one of the Comments suggested that it was unnecessary to unplug the wiring. I found this to be the case, too. Thank you for making the mistakes I would have made, Patrick, so I could breeze through the project.

I watched this video initially maybe 3 months ago and finally got around to replacing the handle today. Thank you so much for this video. It took me less than 10 Minutes to do it. However , I discovered the outside handle also needs replaced too. I thought it would fix both but it did not. But I know how to do it now! Thank you kindly!

I am waiting on a new interior door handle for my 98 Sienna. Thank you for making this video!
Update: just replaced the passenger interior door handle. It works! 😀

Thanks for all the candid mistakes to show us what to watch out for.
Ordering the right color match and correct left or right door handle, not sliding tabs into holding slots, spinning door panel upside down to get to wiring clips. I would urge everyone to check the door radio speaker to see if it is cracked and needs doctoring with rubber cement or replacing since the door panel is off anyway.

Great video! Just replaced both door handles yesterday, it took about 45 min. The passenger door has 3 wire plugs and we couldn't get that last one unplugged, so I held the panel while my dad put the new handle on. After we did entire job we both agreed you don't really even need to unplug wires since you need to access the door handle only which is on the top. Thank you for posting! 👏🏼

Your camera person (your wife?) was really good! Showed both close-ups and wide shots that helped me understand what you were doing. Give her a bonus.

Thank you for sharing this video. I'm going to replace the interior handle of my 2000 Sienna today. I was lucky to find the part in the right color!

Still works just like you said manually. Good enough for me. Saving me a few hundred in labor. Thanx for your video.

I did the same exact thing. My mechanism worked before I changed the housing. I believe that because it's an after market product the alignment is off a fraction causing it to not work.

Got off work last night from work, just moved a few months ago. Pulled on the handle and it just popped out and the spring fell/parts snapped just like yours. I was upset, but. After replacing both outside handles on both drivers and passengers. I had a feeling it would happen at some point. Thank you for the video man, I wasn't sure if one would exist.

Excellent video! Gave me confidence to change my 1998 Sienna passenger side handle. The job went great, and I have the matching handle for the driver's side if (when) it breaks. Thanks for posting. And thanks to your 'camera person' who seemed to keep you going in the right direction when needed!

Figured out how to separate the door handle from the trim without breaking either. If anyone is only replacing the trim, there are 2 posts; 1 on the top and 1 on the bottom of the handle unit that face the front of the van, and a stationary latch-like post that faces the rear. I carefully pried the top part of the trim from the post using a small flat head screwdriver. Then I could work the bottom post free. Next, open the door latch (not the lock) and you can unhook the trim from the latch-like post to the rear. I only had to replace the trim so this saved a lot of time and trouble. But if you're replacing the entire door handle with the trim, you're still going to have to be able to separate them. Installing the trim was much easier than removing it from the handle!

Great instructional video. I have a 2000 Sienna and my interior door handle also broke after i just replaced my outside door handles. I love my sienna. It just keeps on going and going and going regardless of the number of miles. Better than the "Ever Ready bunny" commercial. How much mileage does your Sienna have? Mine is pushing 300k. The wife wants to know what will I do when Sienna reaches 300k. I told her, "I'm going for 350k. What do you expect, buy you a new van?" hahaha to her

I highly recommend snapping the bezel on to check the fit before putting the handle on the door. Mine was impossible to snap together until I shaved down some small imperfections from the manufacturing process with a razor knife. Once I had the panel in place and the door back together the bezel snapped right on. I did the whole thing in about 10 minutes.

I bought the same part and followed your instructions. The power locks on my Sienna had the same problem as your's. It might be a compatibility issue.

That's great, but my problem is, I was able to get the entire interior door handle with trim and I only need to replace the trim. But I'm worried I'm going to break the new trim trying to remove it from the handle. If I can do that, I won't have to replace the entire door panel, etc. and I can save the door handle for when that actually breaks.

🛑🛑This is dangerous if you don't fix right away. If you left your keys outside of car and door slams shut on you , you will be trapped in your car -even worse in extreme weather if you don't have phone on you to call for help. Keep spare hidden ignition key inside until you fix.

Just finished replacing my passenger door handle. Took about 10 minutes to get the panel off. The cold weather caused the nylon clips to be really stubborn. If you make another video show more of the clip arrangements on the back of the pieces being taken off.The ones you did show were very helpful and kept me from giving up on trying to pry them loose. Also I did not disconnect the wiring. I just popped the door panel up and let it hang loose by the wires while I unscrewed an replaced the the handle. Putting it all back together only took 5 minutes.
