According to what I have read, both should have the same size battery. But 1 uses a battery plug which makes battery replacement much easier, while 2 is soldered on. The only things that make the battery last longer on the bose soundLink 2 are that you have less bass and that the bass turns down faster when you turn the volume up and that you can no longer play as loud. you get a speaker with a poorer sound with less bass and a weaker amplifier only to play approx. 3 hours longer. bose SoundLink 2 has too little bass and too much treble. It has (loadnes) that make the bass turn down when you get closer to 50% volume
for me the mini II has more clear sound, but for most people bassier and louder is what they would go for, so yeah this is not going to be the succes for bose this time, that is a kick in the balls for them, I think they should keep selling both. I do prefer the mini II because It still has plenty bass, suport 2 devices at once, clearer sound, easy charge with usb and longer batery life. So if it's your first mini link it is a great option but if you already have one for long time you will definitely miss the bass and that total volume feeling.
I'm getting a little worried. I have owned the original since 2015 and I love it. It isn't holding a charge now, so I just bought the 2 and am awaiting its delivery. I thought the 2 would be an upgrade from the original, not a back step. I hope I'm not disappointed when it arrives, but by these reviews it sounds like I might.
@@arhon888 thank you for replying. I'm not sure I still have my original but if I do where do you get the battery? I contacted Bose originally and they. never told me the battery was replaceable. BTW I'm in the US.
@@mmt4013 Bose no longer supply them, but if you search on Google you will find many. There is also a video on TH-cam that will show you how replace. The battery can be accessed underneath the unit behind the rubber base👍🏽
"Original Mini = 7 hrs. and Mini 2 = 10 hrs."? The Bose website says 10 hrs. and 12 hrs., respectively. Anyway, I just bought a Mini 2 lightly used (second-hand) on Fb Marketplace. It came with a protective sleeve, carrying bag and charging dock for $120 CAD and it has mini USB charging while I have seen Mini 2 with Type C charging so that leads me to believe Bose upgraded the Mini 2?
I own both of these, The original has much better range and higher treble with amazing bass. The soundlink mini II seems to be more of a mid range wash. kinda dissapointed
No you can't charge the Mini I via USB that way. The port is for firmware updates only. That said you can get USB cables with build in PWM converter that you plug into a standard 5v USB and out the other end of a standard DC jack comes 12v - perfectly for the Mini I. No they're not made for Bose they're just general purpose for whichever electronics meets the specs - and the Mini I does. And as said the DC jack is a standard DC jack the way they've been made for the past 50+ years.
I have bot and can tell you that the 1 has deeper sound and if put in a corner it comes alive. The 2 is a little clearer but lacks the room filling sound especially in the low end. Basically i use the 1 and i gave my wife the 2 she cant tell the difference.
Mini I is better quality - Mini II sounds tinny in comparison. I like the darker colour option in Mini II but nowhere near the sound quality of the original. Better buy original or go for the JBLs.
I have The Bose Soundlink l. and the USB port does only charging ...no powerbank option etc. at all :( ..dead end, hoped for more. PS: he doesn't say what usb port is there ..if micro usb or usb C.
Ucim 2cute I'm not getting either one now. The new one should have been made at least 10% better in sound quality than the older one, but it wasn't by the looks of it. A shame. I don't like the old one because of the it has no USB. It might be that he got a fake Bose speaker with the black one ... ?
First I would like to say thank you for the video. Secondly on the bottom of the Bose link one if I understood you correctly you can plug a phone charger in there you didn't say anything about that on your video you just looked at the two side ports. The mini one has a phone charger Android on the bottom as well period with that being said Thank you again

I just bought the mini 1 for 50 dollars today. Im feeling good now =)
Ya it should be 100.00 used so you gotta a good deal
You should point some way to which one you are talking about. I was lost listening to the mini or was it the mini2?
I have the original. I still love it. Pleasently surprised it still scores higher in the areas that mater most to me.
The mini 2 had batterie problems

I have the original too. You can actually replace the battery for about £30. From what I have seen, it is not that difficult to do.

Is there a speaker that makes your music stop sucking?
Sadly such a device doesn't yet exist

10 hrs playback . at what volume ? Surely not full volume ! So can you explain? Thanks

if you own both, how do you not know that you cant charge the mini 1 from the port on the bottom?
@@A4rings110 How do you know he doesn't know that?
The sound is louder on the SoundLink 1 because it runs on a 9 volt power supply, instead of the 5 volt micro USB that the SoundLink 2 uses.
They both have a 7.4Volt output. not sure what you're talking about. PLUS you can charge the mini 1 with USB... look on the bottom of the speaker.

I wonder why my Bose 1 and is much louder and more bass than II..

That's funny as hell @ I gave my wife the 2 she can't tell the difference.
Are we supposed to guess what speaker the music is coming from 🤷
Yeah that could've been presented better fo sho

I agree, I own both and the mini 1 is has much better range and high with amazing bass. the mini 2 is more of a mid-strong speaker.
I prefer Mini 1 too, but I prefer Mini 2's sound than JBL Charge3 and pulse 3 anyway.
To say its nowhere near the sound is not correct they sound verry similair
Great review man, play your music, it’s your review.
Playing rap that does not have true acoustic tones is a piss poor way to explain. Thanks for wasting my time.
Right!
you spelled 'crap' wrong
If you have one you know which is which🤷🏿♂️ the 1 is more bass and the 2 is a little more pitchy
Bro, a predecessor is like an ancestor. The Soundlink Mini 2 is not the predecessor of the 1.
Comparisons are head to head. Combat is hand to hand.
Thanks for the video! Going for the sound on the mini😀
what is the micro usb on the bottom of the first one for?
I have The Bose Soundlink l. and the USB port does only charging ...no powerbank option etc. at all :( ..dead end, hoped for more.
PS: he doesn't say what usb port is there ..if micro usb or usb C.
Firmware update
How mach dollers
Thank you for making this video. I wasn't sure which one to get. Thumbs up!

I like the mini 1 battery is way easer to replace

Need model #’s 413295 or then you can get what you want
I got the 1
Rap is crap. From my experience the soundlink mini has been tuned well for jazz, jazz fusion.
Woah Jamal don’t pull out the nine
The mini 1 sound better
Why not test it with real music, played on musical instruments?
Both sound sucks!
mini 2 clowns
