  • Tune in for Betty's first ever TV Show! One of the first brands to go on television, Betty's TV Show was a huge success in the 1950s. Let her take you on a tour of the original Betty's Kitchens, from the Terrace Kitchen to the Kitchen of Tomorrow.

My mother still speaks this way. She has the same cadence, vocabulary and intonation as this woman did. My mother is 88yrs old and I am so very grateful that I got to grow up during a time when people were quiet, polite and resourceful. I told my 16yr old daughter today that back in the 1950's a garbage man and his wife, who might be a maid, still visited the theatre and read books. They still listened to opera at their home and while they may have not been educated, were still quite smart and intelligent in their daily renderings. I'm 57 now and I fear that common sense along with courtesy and finding oneself bored has fallen to the wayside. Which is a shame. I found this video calming and enjoyable.

Adelaide Hawley is "Betty Crocker"; she appeared for them on TV for years.

1950. General Mills had sponsored radio shows previously, and had begun sponsorship of "The Lone Ranger" TV show a year earlier, in 1949. This was her first attempt at a TV show of her own

Huge success? Because I'm reading a journal article on the topic that said it flopped.

Betty Crocker è la mamma di Lisa Biondi, perché senza di lei Lisa Biondi non sarebbe esistita.
