Happy you ended the year on such a high note! I really appreciate your unapologetic gushing over WaT, even with the acknowledgement of the flaws. I am right there with you! Hope the positive vibes continue on into the new year, happy reading :)))

What a good year brada! Stoked to have met you and chat weekly. Looking forward to the coming live chats. And 100% on the opinion factor. Your defense of WaT is also a defense of the storyteller-you have great perspective to offer to the community! Still stoked to get to the cosmere when that time arrives for me
Happy New Year Jake!! Love hearing the gush fest for To Ride Hell's Chasm! I can't wait to read it! Ultimately, reading is always a very personal experience. I'm glad WaT worked so well for you! Sounds like a worthy book of the month 👌🏽
Having to choose between wind and truth and curse of the mistwraithe for my favorite read of the month was so so difficult, thanks for the awesome video, hope your 2025 reading year is a good one
I’m new to the channel but just wanted to say keep up the good work! Love the videos so far and I’m 100% with you on Wind and Truth. I’m very biased because no other series has me as emotionally invested as Stormlight, and despite all the criticisms I just love the characters and world so much that it was easily my best read of 2024.
@@shanecavanaugh4679 thanks for being here and checking out my channel! 😊 I'm with you, it's hard to be truly objective with a stormlight book. But I'm trying my best! Even with those flaws though, it's still amazing!!

My best book of the month in December was The Last Argument of Kings... definitely not my last Abercrombie! Going into 2025 with many anticipated reads 📚!🎉🎉🎉 Happy New Year!
I really loved Wind and Truth. Sure, a few things didn't land for me, but overall, I could not put it down. Still had tears and moments of vocal exaltation that I have come to expect from a Sanderson Work
Wow sounds like a great month of reading! So glad WaT worked well for you! What read going into 2025 do you see as the most “wild card”? As in you’re not sure if you’ll love it or hate it?
@@iSamwise hmmm that's a great question! I'm pretty confident about reading choices these days since booktube generally gives such great recommendations 🤔 I wouldn't say it's a love vs hate thing, but I'd say BotNS is probably the biggest wild card in the sense that I might absolutely love it or I might be too lost to really understand it, let alone get all the deep meaning from it. But I think I'll be fine thanks to the readalong group 😁
I think my favorite book of December (or rather, a novella) was The Wandering Sword by Jacob Peppers, first in the Last Eternal series. Stumbled about it by chance, gave it a try and was pretty amazed about how much I loved it. It's a pretty grimdark fantasy about that Last Eternal, the only survivor of a battle that humanity doesn't even know they lost, branded a traitor who has been on the run from the enemy in order to keep them from ultimate victory. To do so he has completely disconnected from the rest of humanity, which suddenly changes with the starting event of the first book. There's a lot of introspection in it, which is not necessarily something I gravitate to, but it is really well done at least in the first three parts of that series, and it also has great character moments as well as lots of action, so at this moment, I really want to know who things will turn out in the end. Regarding Wind and Truth, I didn't even start with the first book of the Stormlight archives so I don't have to add anything to that book specifically. I will say though that I'm not that surprised about the mixed reactions, because the hype around Sanderson has been increasingly crazy in recent years, and that always comes with expectations turned up to 11. Which can be pretty easily be disappointed, because that's just unrealistic. Also there's at least a few people who love to critizise highly successful things just for that reason. I've always enjoyed reading his stuff (WoT, Elantris, Mistborn season 1), so I fully expect to enjoy the Stormlight Archives as well, and that's good enough for me. His style is probably not literary enough for me to put him in the top tier of my favorite authors, but he's very good at what he does and I think nitpicking in order to find something negative to say about him would be just a waste of time.
I’m going to definitely tackle Wind and Truth at some point this year. I feel like I need to distance myself from all the criticism so I can give it a fair chance. In the meantime, I’m in the last quarter of Howling Dark and I’m officially going all in with this series…so good!
@@Grantimusss yeah I avoided listening to any reviews whatsoever until I finished it! Despite the flaws it's still an absolutely fantastic book imo. The end of Howling Dark is.... something else 👀👀

Martin Dragon Ball Vol. 1 - Akira Toriyama And I'm currently reading The Way of Kings Prime - Brandon Sanderson I am currently reading all of Sandersons work in publication order so I'm a bit behind and will not read Wind and Truth for a bit. I would compare the last month of reading to the time I was reading Clavell's Asian Saga... very slow. Zodiac Academy, book 1 I can call it the book of the month... good time
Im not 100% sure the best way to say this but I think part of what's going on with Wind and Truth is there is a small group of people who are just so excited to hate on Sanderson. I've not seen it much here on TH-cam but in a few discords I lurk in there are people who are just so happy that this is not a perfect book. I think part of this happens anytime an author reaches the popularity that Sanderson is at. Not saying this books is flawless by any means but its just something ive noticed. Happy New Year!
@@TomOrange I think you're absolutely right! Anyone who gets that popular is going to have people wishing for their downfall. It's like he's the Lebron James of writing lol. And to be fair, there's also people who seem to be too caught up in wanting it to be perfect that they're not really seeing the flaws. I'll be the first to admit I'm biased toward liking him and the book so I'm sure I'm overlooking some things too!
