I’m big into pocket knives and watching knife content on TH-cam. Whenever a reviewer says “the blade itself” I can’t help but to laugh and think of Joe Abercrombie.
The Last Kingdom = the last book standing! At least for December. I’ll be making The Saxon Stories a palette cleanser series too going forward. Best wishes for your January reads, Mike!
You did it again Mr Mike! I've started Red Rising this month and damn. I love it! Your primarily responsible for me reading 25 books I've never read last year. Thanks Mike!
You know when you set up a nice lil TBR for the month then immediately buy a bunch of special edition Ursula Le Guin books? That's me right now. So much for that tbr. 😂
I had so much going on in December that I reread Deadhouse Gates and loved it so much - maybe more than the first time! My number one for December for sure.
Glad you had such a good reading month (and year!). I hope to get to Bernard Cornwell someday. His books sound fantastic. It's a tie for my December book of the month: Godkiller by Hannah Kaner and Where the Dark Stands Still by AB Poranek. Thanks for sharing and happy reading!
I burned through all 3 Prince of Nothing books in Dec. By far my favorite read this year and best personal discovery since Suneater. I'm now all in on this world and anything Mr. Bakker does in the future.
It’s awesome that you had such a good reading year. What an excellent problem to have. 😂 Thank you for everything you do here. Your channel is consistently enjoyable!
Yay. Way to go Mike. Got u some Uhtred at last. Read one a month of the remaining 13 books in the series. Go on I dare you! Happy New Year everyone from a Scottish Island. Best Regards, UK Chris
Mike the videos are great! I will say I know you said the Canon camera was impossible to find the right lighting but I got to say I think the quality was better. I did pick up The last kingdom because of your recommendation! Keep up the awesome videos!
You know, screw it... I will scrap my fantasy TBR for this year and will read fantasy series that you are reading during the year. :D I want to be part of this
Solid reading month! Hearing how much you liked The Last Kingdom really wants me to give it a try. I watched the first two season when they came out and thought it was great.
I've heard people gush over his King Arthur books. I think that's where I wanna start. I had no idea he's responsible for Last Kingdom. Mike's channel is awesome. Your awesome too! 😁
So my book of the month is the only book I completed in the month of December and that was Leviathan by Robert McCammon. It's a long stretch since the beginning of the Matthew Corbett series, feels like a whole different world by the end, but was quite a journey and I had a blast. Leviathan felt way more like a horror novel than historical fiction. Happy 2025!
Lost Man's Lane was a good solid read but didn't quite reach the high I was hoping for. Last Kingdom was great, I definitely want to continue the story.
My book of the month for December was Also The Last Kingdom Followed closely by Dungeon Crawler Carl 6. January plans I wanna finish The Tainted Cup, Dungeon crawler Carl #7. I've also started Rise of the Ranger
I read 10 books many 5 stars my book of the month My song by harry bellefonte memoir i totally recommend this book if you're curious about old Hollywood or a fan of his films and music
Only about 250 pages into Wind and Truth, but I'm really struggling with it. The way comedy is undercutting so many serious moments really reminds of new wave bad marvel movies... Otherwise good scenes have me rolling my eyes in frustration. Hope it gets better as things move forelward.
Book of the month has to be Wind and Truth as I haven't read anything else, but I haven't read that either, as I'm at around 41%. Really draggign ass. Slowest I've ever read anything.
@SteveGibbs-w8f I read almost the whole Cosmere this year so honestly I'm just burnt out on reading period. Maybe getting through 1 or 2 chapters a day, and some days none at all.
I just heard there is a gay male relationship along with themes of transgenderism in Wind and Truth. If true, I hope your review makes this clear. Every other review I've listened to has not said this, and I feel it's a huge disservice to listeners looking for an honest review.
@@soab24Because it's not something I want to read about in a fantasy book. Especially wasting $35.99 (which is the most expensive hardback I've ever seen.)
Your videos are starting to come back on my home page and I couldn’t be happier.
Just what I needed to get out of a reading slump.
totally great time hanging on NYE day! Can't wait to see what 2025 brings! The only thing I'm 100% on is you piling more books on my TBR Mountain.

The collab with Gavin will break all booktube records. I hope it happens. 🤞 fingers crossed
I got the Prince of Nothing series for Christmas. Can't wait to start those

Happy New Year, Mike!

Happy New Year Mike and Happy Reading
Great video as always! Happy New Year Mike!

Read Fight Club last month. Loved it. Scorch through it in three days. And of course I will always love the movie.
You know, screw it... I will scrap my fantasy TBR for this year and will read fantasy series that you are reading during the year. :D I want to be part of this
Wow I’m getting The Last Kingdom today !
Happy new year!! 🥳
Solid reading month! Hearing how much you liked The Last Kingdom really wants me to give it a try. I watched the first two season when they came out and thought it was great.
What’s better, or what series would you all recommend reading from Bernard Cornwell: Saxon Chronicles or the Sharpe’s series?
I've heard people gush over his King Arthur books. I think that's where I wanna start. I had no idea he's responsible for Last Kingdom. Mike's channel is awesome. Your awesome too! 😁
Love your channel mike! Keep crushing it! You introduced me to John Gwynne so I can’t thank you enough!
Grave Empire by Richard Swam is top on my tbr. And starting Mistborn this year. Finally diving into Branden Sanderson Cosmere
I think Mike's gotten me wanting to check out Mistborn too
I loved The Last Kingdom show, and read the first book a few years ago. I’ve got all 13 books on order and plan to get to the series this year.
So my book of the month is the only book I completed in the month of December and that was Leviathan by Robert McCammon. Wait. Phillip is a medical doctor? I thought he had a phd in English lit or something similar. Did I hear that right? lol.
That livestream was great!
That was! I watched the full 2.5 hrs this morning while working. I always enjoy when you guys chat
Thanks man! I always love hanging out with Mike and the gang
Cromwell will be on my Picker wheel soon
Ramble on
I would be interested in your 11-20.
Lost Man's Lane was a good solid read but didn't quite reach the high I was hoping for. Last Kingdom was great, I definitely want to continue the story.
Check out Blue Sky.

Where's your crown Prince of Nothiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing?!?

Well it gets more sanderlanche-y at least.
But yeah, same - I had to basically take breaks and do one "day" per day just to avoid frustration.
Book of the month has to be Wind and Truth as I haven't read anything else, but I haven't read that either, as I'm at around 41%. Really draggign ass. Slowest I've ever read anything.

Not sure why more people aren’t talking about book titled Guarded Laws of Money Manifestation. It’s such a rare find.
I didn't know Phillip went to med school - I thought he was a PhD graduate in another study (that's not the same doctor)
I just heard there is a gay male relationship along with themes of transgenderism in Wind and Truth. If true, I hope your review makes this clear. Every other review I've listened to has not said this, and I feel it's a huge disservice to listeners looking for an honest review.
I dislike the book as much as the next guy but why the fuck would that have to be explicitly stated? Is it a trigger for you?
@@soab24Because it's not something I want to read about in a fantasy book. Especially wasting $35.99 (which is the most expensive hardback I've ever seen.)
Mike's not a really someone who lists out every last trigger warning that easily offended people might have.
It does have gay people who’ve been around since the dawn of time. Hope this helps
@@IzzyZil20 Brilliant. Thank you.
How to sell a haunted house by Grady Hendrix was my top pick for december. Not 5⭐️but I can not stop thinking about that freaking twist!!!!🫨😦🤩
