If Omos really was the reason for Braun's release that proves his inability to tell a good story. You could easily put the two together, have Braun lose in the beginning of the feud, which seeds doubt. Is he still a monster? Then Braun has to tap into the twisted Wyatt mindset to take the win proving that being a monster is not just about size.
That still sucks but it would be a way around it without the need for Omos to look weak.

I don't know whether Dave has forgotten the difference between a wrestling giant (like Big Show) and a monster (like Vader), or whether he's just paraphrasing what WWE is thinking and _they're_ the ones who've forgotten the difference, which wouldn't surprise me. The giant gimmick is all about sheer size and immovability, like Omos- when he was younger, Andre the Giant had to be told to slow down, stop doing moves like dropkicks and deliberately wrestle more ponderously because it was affecting his giant aura. The _monster_ gimmick is different- size is an advantage, but it's about ferocity, unstoppability, sadism if they're a heel, the ability to destroy anything and everything in their path like a juggernaut, they fear no man and feel no pain. As well as Vader, other great monsters have included Goldberg, Lesnar, Undertaker, Kane, Umaga, Mil Muertes, Matanza, Lance Archer and so on. It's not about the size, it's about how they're going to destroy you. And Braun was the greatest monster WWE has had in years. Omos sure as shit can't be booked like a legit monster, nor can Aziz. Braun got over when he tried to _beat Roman Reigns to death._ The fact that WWE managed to fuck up and waste a guy who was _literally un-fuckupable_ is one of the most damning indictments of the modern company.

I still feel that Braun's WWE career ended when he was white-hot during the summer of 2018, and they didn't put the title on him after Roman Reigns took leave and relinquished the title. He was the biggest babyface in the company at the time, and instead of giving him the title, they jobbed him out to Lesnar. It felt difficult to take him seriously after that.

At this point, why does any wrestler sign with WWE? Bray's release is as clear a message as you can get: We don't care if you're homegrown and loyal, we don't care if you've grown up with the business all you life, we don't care how many PPV's you've main evented, we don't care how much merchandise you sell for us, we don't care how over you get with the audience, we don't care how creative of a mind you are, we don't care how many of our top guys you work with. You can have EVERYTHING to succeed, and we'll still cut you out of the blue because we want to. Anyone that feels secure in that company is kidding themselves. No wrestler that wants to feel a level of job security should consider signing with WWE an option.

I disagree with Dave that Braun lost his monster gimmick appeal as soon a bigger wrestler came along. Maybe that what Vince thought but it's a pretty shallow way of looking at it. After all, both Kane and Mark Henry were able to get over as monster heels even though The Big Show was around throughout most of their careers (heck Mark Henry even fended with Big Show during his best run as a monster heel). What matters is how you're booked and how you carry yourself.
As for Bray Wyatt, I feel bad for him as he was the victim of being almost too successful at his gimmick, causing WWE to suffocate him with it.
In the beginning it was pretty straightforward. He had a split personality, alternating between a creepy version of Mr. Rogers to a full blown psycopath. This made him stand out among wrestlers and he got super over. Then WWE started bringing in magic and it was all downhill from there.

Vince's comment that AEW isn't competition in the same way that WCW was is right. He might have meant it in kind of a snide, backhanded way, still viewing AEW as nothing more than a glorified indy fed. But the overall point that WWE and AEW aren't rivals in the same way that WWF and WCW were is right.
WCW was out for blood against WWF. Bischoff didn't want to just have a good show, he wanted to hurt WWF. And really, that was Vince's mindset with the territories in the 80s. So it's kind of hard to blame Bischoff for thinking that was the only way to compete with Vince. AEW doesn't appear to have anything close to that mindset. Maybe it's just a different era. Maybe it's the fact that a lot of the decision makers in AEW are also wrestlers and they understand that having another place to go is good for them. Whatever it is, AEW may occassionally take some petty jabs at WWE and vice versa, but it's not two companies trying to bankrupt the other. Hell, Jericho was a guest on Austin's podcast. Nothing like that would have ever happened during the Monday Night Wars.

From a creative standpoint, they ruined The Fiend with that no contest at Hell In A Cell, and then straight buried him 12 feet deep with that loss to Goldberg with that sorry ass Jackhammer. But, Windham Rotunda is so damn creative. To not have any role for him, I just don't understand. They fired his father, his brother, and now he's gone. Sells well, doesn't hurt anyone, looks impressive, and let's not even pretend that Shanky, Omos or Azeez can do half the strength spots that Braun can, even if they're a bit taller. Braun is a much bigger 'giant' than all three of those guys, because you can immediately see how much stronger than them he is.

Not he first time that’s happened in WWE. We’ve heard stories before of wrestlers coming up with great ideas just for Vince to say “great idea, we’ll give it to Cena or Orton.” Happened in WCW too. Diamond Dallas Page (in an interview with Solomonster I believe) said when he pitched the idea for Hogan/Rodman vs DDP/Malone, Bischoff loved the idea but tried to give DDP’s spot to Macho Man. DDP had to fight for that spot and put his foot down. It helped that Malone actually was good friends with DDP. Most celebrities probably wouldn’t have cared either way.
