This Joker right here will be probably one of my favorite portrayals of The Joker ever. Just the fact that you could mold The Joker into who you want him to be (Vigilante or Villain) and him being completely connected with the player and just the concept of a vigilante Joker working with Batman. Its just both unique and interesting to do with a character as flexible as The Joker.

@@sergioolvera7603 exactly I mean with the comics and other portrayals of the Joker and his past being a mystery you question more why Batman doesn’t end him, that code is kind of questioned when there’s no connection between the two and it’s almost as if Batman let’s Joker kill as he pleases due to his inaction. But this way and the relationship with John you can see why Batman could never do that.

The only reason I prefer this ending, even though I have a serious soft spot for John, is because this is the only ending where he honestly gets to be himself. Let’s be honest, yes John was sweet and did try really hard to be a good friend and keep his darker impulses at bay. But there’s a reason why he always ends up giving into them, because deep deep down that’s just the person he really is. And you can always tell throughout each episode, John doesn’t really care about right or wrong and really thrives in chaos and violence. He only has strong morals in regards to the people he cares about, and in regards to himself. No matter how hard you try, he’ll never end up being a hero because Joker is the truest version of him. Sort of like how Bruce seems to be the mask, while Batman is who he truly is. In the Vigilante route he just suffers and tries really hard to be someone he’s not only to fail at being good, but also fail his only friend. Which is honestly heartbreaking to watch. In the villain route, yeah he’s vowed to be your arch nemesis and hates you. But that’s the best outcome for him, and you can really see that the only route where he’s actually comfortable in his own skin is when he’s a villain and has stopped denying his own true nature. Because no matter what you do, what route you take he’ll always end up being beyond saving. And as much as I honestly love John Doe, atleast in this route you aren’t delaying the inevitable. Not to mention John finally gets the one thing he ever really wanted in the end, to be closer to Bruce than ever and to be with him forever. Because he realizes the only real not one sided relationship he’ll ever have with Bruce, is by being his “perfect enemy”. And honestly, I feel like that’s the only way Joker could ever really be happy. It’s sad, but it’s true….
these are good points but i disagree. its made clear the entire series that john is veryy ill, thats why he was in arkham and all he remembers is arkham, and theres that quote he says on the bridge about him losing half of his life to an illness he cant control. to say someone’s uncontrollable urges or inability to maintain self control is “who he really is” is disregarding mental illness as a thing. like, yes, he’s joker but that doesn’t mean he’s destined to be like other versions of joker, this is a completely different person. i just feel like its wrong not to not take into account how sick he is and the lack of control he has (also not to mention the fact that the two people he cares about most both use him). that isn’t to say he doesn’t deserve justice because he absolutely does, but what he needs is arkham, not to succumb to those urges which would just lead to more suffering if not for him and then for his victims. people with mental illnesses often think that trying to treat it or taking medication turns them into “someone they’re not” when really they were born with a disability and they have to try harder than those without them and its cruel and terrible but it isn’t something we have control over. thats what i really like about this game, though, it creates great commentary on morality surrounding mental illness. this is why john tries to be good and there are less casualties when you’re kind, patient, and trusting with him, because thats how you should treat people who are ill. john cant control it and he deserves help. and i don’t think its impossible for him to be happy this way, it would definitely be a hard fight but it would be worth it in the end. johns character can be a beautiful ode to those struggling with mental illnesses that make them feel like they’re bad people.

Disagree with you. I don't think Bruce/ Batman ever truely believes anyone is beyond saving.
I don't think the way he ends out in either route is entirely due to his mental problems alone. We see just how bad of an environment he was surronded by throughout the season in the Pact. The only ones who tolerated him were Bruce, who needed a way into the group, and his one sided relationship with Harley. He needed someone who could keep him doing the exercises and his darker impulses under control. His moments of snapping don't seem like "his true self", but rather some kind of defense he created for when he's backed in a corner. On top of it being ambiguous as to who really started the fight in the fun house back in episode 4. Just because he can't be a hero doesn't mean he should be conditioned into being a villian.
Keeping him as your friend in the vigilante route is the only way he actually has a chance of getting better back in Arkham, with staff and Bruce being there to help him at each step.
@@Natalie-ip9co so true. i think it's more sad that john would think all he is worth is being joker because that's "who he was meant to be" or it was "inevitable" because he couldn't successfully try to become a hero. batman doesn't think he is hopeless, he truly saw him as a good friend.

Honestly I don't necessarily understand those ''good choices'' video as the definition of such thing is very subjective. The very purpose of these games, and especially with a game such as Batman that deals with matters of morality, I doubt there truly is something as an objectively good choice, in the moral sense.

Clearly there's some very different options that can come with changing your mind with Joker at the last minute. I only played "use Joker from the start" and "friends til the bitter end" playthroughs, but betraying him right at the end? That's cold, and makes for a very different story.

I always go for the villain route. Don't get me wrong. I was friendly to him throught out the game. Up until the carnival part. I wanted to go the Vigilante route. But that would mean destroy the virus, aka Freeze's only hope to cure Nora. Not to mention, the more I thought about it, the more sense it made to have Jonh arrested. He had a thing for unrestrained violence, and Bruce wasn't exactly in a morally clear lign of profession.
in my case is the oposite i just can’t choose villain joker. it’s to much death and damage.at least with vigilante joker you avoid all the deaths,the super biological weapon and you also leave a chance for jhon to change.

Lord Flufflebuns I think that tiff and Alfred weren’t as tied up as Bruce was. Cause John was doing this all for Bruce so it would make sense for him to be more restrained. And the sledgehammer thing, well, it’s cause he’s Batman.

Dunno about the first part but there might be somewhat of an understanding on the second part, Batman canonically mastered 127 different martial arts so he would be familiar with conditioning. Conditioning is when you constantly strike a part of your body such as your shins creating micro fractures on the bones and deadening the nerves, it causes calcium structure the bone causing it to be strong enough to break two baseball bats. Such conditioning is used in Karate (Famously Kyokushin) and Muay Thai, Bruce Wayne could’ve conditioned his body in those years of training and have durable bones. Again it’s just a theory but it’s the best one I can think off, idk about taking the sledgehammer to the head but he may be able to take it with his forearms

I don’t think so honestly, it’s pretty clear he genuinely wanted a relationship with Bruce. It’s why he ends up being a good guy if you trust him. Because friends trust each other, and he can see he’s really your friend. Tbh though, Bruce was literally playing him the whole time :/

In episode 4 you can just say no to him when he asks you to talk to Harley in the bridge and then boom he’s your mortal enemy it feels like a plot hole but it’s great for those who want to experience the villain episode without feeling guilty that they were dicks to John

Some of the options can't be considered "good" like the last one, Bruce would never give up being Batman, not even for Alfred.
It is if you think of Batman as an “addiction” or “coping mechanism” or “criminal activity” or even “going to war” instead of as a person or job.
Its kind of interesting, Vigilante Joker is still awkward and has a lot of trouble formulating sentences, but Evil Joker speaks very clearly, kinda like he's still trying to find himself. Also, the Vigilante ending gives you a lot more interesting ways to clear the people's names, while also putting Harley and Bane away for good, and keeping good relations with John, who I honestly do see as an incredibly sympathetic character, Vigilante John portrays a man who's lived in prison all his life and finally getting out very very well. And it is effectively all his life, because all he remembers is waking up in Arkham.
I just wish I could have talked him off that ledge, but visitation is a good 2nd place prize I suppose.
Also giving up batman just makes no sense because Tiffany and Selina need a mentor and while Tiffany could probably work with the whole "Billionar Philanthropist" thing Selina would just get bored and eventually relapse without the constant display of "how to be a good person" IMO.
Good choices when bad oucomes? I don't see it like that...

In all honesty, I know the Joker and batman are like the ink blots to every FAN, so to me I always feel like they're either twins that lived together until highschool then returned in college or two friends who were bullied together in elementary and grew up together facing them in different ways. I see how much it is for Bruce to fight both sides while joker's fight's one, giving up on the other a long time ago. Its sick and twisted to spend so long during times of peace, we forget how we were as people and are so scared to lose that peace, so spoiled to forget how we got to it and are so much worse than those who got us here. Why these two are so popular, I mean even more popular than superman and Lex, Spiderman and Venom(close 2nd) or to make that more accurate Green Goblin or Flash and ....timelines, the fact is they both flip on the idea of a good guy looking like he's cosplaying as a nightmare and the other to twist something supposed to be full of happiness, pretty much an embodiment of the Horror tropes I guess.

He thought he could destroy the ties I had... But he failed. Rather miserably I should add.
What he didn't understand, is that I was merciful enough to bend the law, which was why Tiffany and Catwoman were still on my team until the end of the game. But I wasn't stupid enough to break it. I could forgive his lie of how he killed the agents, but I couldn't accept taking him in. Being a vigilante can lead you into some DARK places and unclear areas when it comes to the legal, ethical and moral spectrums. Jonh has a bit of a passion for unrestrained violence and difficulty in thinking outside a protective figure's system, one that might get frustrating after a while, given the harsh codes Batman uses to run himself.
I just don't feel capable of giving him what he needs. He could not understand that and tried to leave me alone and broken. But in the end, I still had everyone on my side, even Alfred and Avesta. And while I don't appreciate the fact I had to be on neutral terms with Waller, I can tolerate it, since it means I could help my friends and allies.
