I assumed that It was because in season 1, John was in Arkham, where he felt in control and knew his way around It, but when he got out he was overwhelmed (besides he was with the pact which were more intimidating)
@@redacted5078 Tldr at bottom btw :D That's what I was thinking! However, although I think the majority of the change in personality definitely came from that, I do also think that there is a (larger than what I'd say would be usual in the circumstances) difference with how he interacts with other people (which is shown well in his relationship with Bruce). Since Bruce and John knew each other in Arkham and out of it, their relationship would have differences because of the different circumstances, but I don't think it would have such a large difference. In Arkham John was much more like the leader and the strong one (compared to Bruce), but in the second half, when he was out of Arkham he became much more meek and Bruce became the leader one. Tldr: I definitely think there would be changes in his personality because of the new and different situations he was put in, but I didn't think it would be so much of a change as it was (or to that extent). Edit: For who knows why I can't ever spell "definitely" right lol
@@foxbatman1396 No matter why his personality changed, we all know it's because Telltale generally doesn't think ahead and just needed him to be a tad different for the sequel :D Probably because they wanted to use it as a marketing point, as "Hey, look, we have a NICE Joker"

I just wanna thank you real quick. Your compilations introduced me to The Batman Telltale Series. I almost immediately bought the two games and played them through several times, I've been having so much fun with it (maybe a bit obsessed). And after getting such joy out of the games and your compilations I continued to play more games, watch more movies and read the comics. So, I really have to thank you for making me such fan of Batman and Joker!
I'm here for the Batman Origins praise. It gets so much shit but it's probably the best game on the Arkhamverse story-wise imo. I think ppl are just so hard on it because Rocksteady didn't make it. Completely agree with your take on how it perfectly nails the Joker's relationship with Batman and Harley. Also, the battle with Deathstroke was incredibly good.
Well, to be fair, it has its flaws outside of not being made by Rocksteady, like not expanding on the concept, copying gadgets from AC, being empy, having its share of glitches... But if you take it for what is it - a filler game - it's absolutely amazing and something we didn't even deserve ;-; And it does some things better than the other games too! Like boss battles, like you yourself said. I love the battles between Deathstroke and Firefly

Literally. Arkham Origins took the most overplayed superhero romance cliches but put Batman and Joker into the main roles. It's very cynical and I love it. Would love to make a video just about that game honestly
You think that? XD I mean, don't take me wrong, I love catbat as much as the next person, but I think they work best when they have their on/off thing... Sorry, King just ruined it for me XD Joker loves Batman, hell, there was even a comic where Selina herself realized that and left Batman :D It was Snyder's comic I believe...
the more i see it the more i believe it. Bruh they belong together 😂. Especially the lego batman movie, it was so funny. Like the writers knew people shipped them so they sprinkled it in a little XD
2:37 I never really understood this scene when I watched The Dark Knight. I honestly thought Joker was messing with him Until I started watching your videos lol
I think a big draw to the Animated Series and Rocksteady games is the contemplative moments dedicated to highlighting key parts of Joker and Batman's relationship. Batjokes' lifeblood is often subtextual (or at least portrayed in such a way that you could call it obsession or something more impersonal for the sake of the wide DC audience that *will* have different interpretations of their involvement with one another), so moments like the bank robbery where Joker frets over Batman missing another installment in the co-dependent, toxic nightmare that is their history together that he's gone out of his way to enact solely for that purpose (kinda like making a dinner reservation for a spouse that's later spurned, but I know where I'm leaving this comment so I don't think I need to elaborate) and the entire story-- the action, the music-- just stops to let Joker deliver a brief monologue that reads almost like a poem (to me, but I've been here too long) and in retrospect feels delivered in that way-- it's shockingly pleasant for an audience to see. Especially for a relationship that's been so complex for so many years, and become an arguable "Ship of Theseus" as Batman and the Joker have been passed down from writer to writer. The games do this too many times to put into a single TH-cam comment, but I think a strength of putting them in a video game format is the control a player has to linger on the more overt notes of Batjokes if they want to. Anyway, this comment is far too long for me to be writing at 11:30 am. Leave sandwiches outside your balconies for your local cosplaying billionaires night shifts make them hungry

I know what you mean with the Telltale personality switch of John lol
The first half he was more like a powerful and muscly man who used dirty jokes and the second half he was like a limber cute man who said things that he didn't realized could be taken as dirty x'D
Ngl though I LOVE both of them, they just don't seem the same
Exactly as you're saying it. The first one felt like he's above the situation no matter what, which is how Joker should be. The second one felt lost everytime :D
I assumed that It was because in season 1, John was in Arkham, where he felt in control and knew his way around It, but when he got out he was overwhelmed (besides he was with the pact which were more intimidating)
@@redacted5078
Tldr at bottom btw :D
That's what I was thinking!
Tldr:
I definitely think there would be changes in his personality because of the new and different situations he was put in, but I didn't think it would be so much of a change as it was (or to that extent).
Edit: For who knows why I can't ever spell "definitely" right lol
@@redacted5078 That's an interesting thesis, never thought about it that way
@@foxbatman1396 No matter why his personality changed, we all know it's because Telltale generally doesn't think ahead and just needed him to be a tad different for the sequel :D Probably because they wanted to use it as a marketing point, as "Hey, look, we have a NICE Joker"

Well, to be fair, it has its flaws outside of not being made by Rocksteady, like not expanding on the concept, copying gadgets from AC, being empy, having its share of glitches... But if you take it for what is it - a filler game - it's absolutely amazing and something we didn't even deserve ;-;
And it does some things better than the other games too! Like boss battles, like you yourself said. I love the battles between Deathstroke and Firefly
