Archived footage from this era isn't easily available on the internet for reproduction. The Vengsarkar bit at the three-minute mark is erroneous in audio but a correction is made in the subtitles. Apologies for the error.
thx for the effort but how can one get to watch those matches...India in west indies 76, than the second season of Kerry packer in 78-79 in west indies , with Thommo spell in Barbados. HISTORIC stuff....how can one get that ?
@4:53 "And there were no limits on beamers either"??? Beamers were always illegal in cricket (from the time of Bradman itself - that's why there is no instance of Larwood bowling beamers even at the height of bodyline). It was just that West Indian Umpires in 1976 were either too weak or too biased to call out their bowlers bowling beamers at Indian batsmen. Essentially West Indies cheated (flouted the rules) to win the match against India.
Mohindir Amarnath deserves more recognition. He must have been one of the bravest and best batsmen against pace. In 1976, he was hit in the face and hospitalised while trying to hook the pacemen. He returned in bandages and was out first ball; hooking. In 1981/82, he was India's lone stalwart on a nightmarish 6-test tour of Pakistan followed by 5 tests in the West Indies. He scored over 500 runs in each series while skin, hair, stumps and bails flew all round. At home to West Indies next year, he got a string (or is it flock?) of ducks and was dropped, you can only ask so much. Hail the Nath!
I'm a Pakistani who's following test cricket around the world since 1971. I like Mohindar Amarnath more than any of the Indian stars. He was the toughest of them all when the chips were down.
Getting to 306 on a tough pitch in overseas conditions losing just six wickets where few of them were basically not out and forced out of the match due to injury. Geez thats good
Lloyd was instigated by what his team had from Aussies. But it all started by England in the bodyline series against the all time great Sir Don Bradman of Aussie. Lloyd chosen to use it against Indians was a surprise because India wasn't a big match winners in those days. The anchor spoke much about Sunny, but valiant Anshuman Gaekwad, Mohinder are the real unsung heroes of India. They were made aayaram gayaram by the cricket board despite their performances with abilities. The Stylish Legend G.R.Vishwanath has become an unknown entity of Indian cricket with the efflux of time. They are all time greats of Indian cricket. See, no helmet, no headgear, no forearm pads, no digital cameras from multiple focus points, no drs, no power bats, no third umpire no limitations on bowling bouncers and beamers, no instant action against erring bowlers, no penalties, no MRI scans and above all no big money at all. Yet, they played just for the sake cricket and on behalf of the Nation. Salutations to many many unsung heroes of Indian cricket. 👏👏👏👏🙋♂️🙋👍🙏
@@tirthankarsarkar5254 Possibly. But I think the West Indies would have won by more. They were good players of quick, short pitched bowling, but not so good against top class spinners. It would have been interesting, though.
@@tirthankarsarkar5254 In India fast bowling arrived with the debut of Kapil Dev in 1979. Till then fast bowlers hardly had any encouragement and there were no fast bowling role models for youngsters as the stress always was on spin. Srinath , Venkatesh Prasad etc grew up watching Kapil Dev and the 90s saw the emergence of fast bowling in India and it kept improving day by day. This WI team got hammered in Australia prior to the arrival of India because the Australians under Ian Chappell were better at mind games and the crowds too were baying for their blood. But all said and done the fact remains that this WI team wilted under the assault of Lillee and Jeff Thomson. If present day Indian fast bowlers were there at that time they would have definitely given this WI team a run for their money and India would not have declared in both the innings

Sunil Gavaskar an all time great of World cricket. Never wore a helmet even when facing the deadly West Indian bowlers. A fearless batsman who led India to many victories
Gavaskar is one of the best batsmen to have played the game. His not wearing a helmet, was par for the course in those days. Helmets, heavier bats and smaller cricket fields make it easier to play the game these days.
West Indies demise began with the introduction of cable TV and easier access American sports especially the NBA. The days of cricket being King in the West Indies are long gone. As a child in Antigua, I knew two sports in school for boys, Cricket and football with cricket being number one in our young minds because of WI dominance and the heroes it provided for us to aspire to. I joined my family in the US at about the age of 12. It took many years to return to Antigua, but when I did there were basketball courts all over with leagues being run. Where cricket once dominated most sports related arguments, the NBA with the powerhouses, Bulls, Lakers, Celtics Detroit Pistons were fast pushing for equal status. There are Basketball school leagues similar to high school basketball leagues in the states. Nin
I always said it was Micheal Jordan because in the early 90s we stopped cricket instead everyone was playing basketball and shooting in netball nets lol, a few years later there were basketball tournaments and fewer cricket competition

A few things to keep in mind while comparing Gavaskar to today's Indian greats... no protection, no neutral umpires, no opportunity to practice against genuine pace bowling except on tour in real matches, no bowling machines, soft home pitches that did not in any way simulate the bounce and pace of Aus or WI, a mediocre Indian bowling attack (barring Kapil Dev) that was useless except when defending large totals. He faced the fastest bowlers the world had ever seen, with no restrictions placed on them whatsoever, and was India's best batsman and perhaps the best opener ever for more than 15 years.
The batsmen of those days (be it Gavaskar or Richards or Bradman or Sobers) will always be better than the batsmen who succeeded them, because of this sole reason! Cricket is not going back to the days of "no protection" because the world would rather not play the sport at all instead of playing it with no protection and risk deaths on the field. It has already happened inspite of helmets being present (e.g. Phil Hughes, Raman Lamba etc.). So short story.... let the Gavaskars and the Richards be the best of all time! Today's batsman dont care. And thats good!
True. It's was the time when every player was afraid & uncomfortable against the West Indian pace attack. Sunil gavaskar sir was the only player who scored 13 test centuries against them. I rate him the highest of any player in the cricket history.
what a team that was.. sheer courage and self belief.... standing tall against those ferocious bowler, u need lots of spine..and that Indian team had abundance of it.... best indian team ever..
I'm glad India got their revenge in the 83 World Cup. One of the great one day performances and ended the West Indies domination forever...they never appeared in another final. It also makes me glad that we've returned to a more balanced era of bowling since Shane Warne, Murali and all the great Indian spinners as well as Abdul Qadir and Mushtaq Ahmed from Pakistan and Daniel Vittori from NZ. I'm happy to never go back to the era of 11 overs an hour no matter how good the Windies were. It says something about both sides when you look at the mess that West Indian cricket became once the great era finished and where Indian cricket is now. Gavaskar started all that then Kapil Dev built on it and continued to snowball until they reached their zenith with Tendulkar and Dhoni. Much respect from Australia for what they've built.
Oh really. I do not think aussies got past windies before walsh and ambrose retired. The last known great fast bowlers from west indies. And not winning every single one day world cup does not make you less of a team especially when you are talking about test cricket. Windies were the team until early 90s, so i don't know what you are talking about, that not winning a 1983 final of one day ended their dominance forever. No, it just happened that they did not win that one match. I think westindies were the team to beat in throughout 80s. And yes india beat aussie 2-1 recently , thanks to india for that too. What do you want , all spin attack going at 20 overs per hour? That is what excites you.
Gavaskar was not the only great player at the time. In the 1971 series, dilip sardesai scored a double hundred. In 1971, india went on to win a series for the first time in england. This was part of a consecutive run of three series victories. Between 1971 and 1975, the indian team had three world class batsmen : gavaskar, vishwanath and amarnath. Vishwanath had the distinction of scoring 14 centuries at an average of 40 plus. Each century vishwanath scored led to a victory or draw for india. I know of no other batsman whose centuries were as influential in getting results for his team. The third world class batsman was mohinder amarnath. He also averaged 40 plus, and was a good medium pacer as well, one of the few medium pacers india had. He scored 9 out of 11 centuries overseas. I don't know of any world class test batsman who has scored such a high percentage of centuries overseas. In 1983 and 1984, amarnath was the best batsman in the world. The selectors made the mistake of dropping amarnath from time to time because early in his career, from 1969 to 1975, amarnath wasn't very good at playing fast bowling. He still deserved to be in the team as a middle order batting allrounder. His medium pace alone warranted selection. The fourth world class batsman is dilip vengsarkar. He also.averaged 40 plus. On top of this india had a quartet of world class spinners. We had 2 great offspinners in prasanna and venkatraghavan, a great left armer in bishan bedi and a unique legspinner in chandrasekhar, who, with his polio withered arm, bowled quick legspin, and even had a bouncer is his armoury, which was quite unique at the time. Add to this wicketkeeper kirmani, who had the unique distinction of learning how to keep wicket against a spin dominated attack in the 1970's and a pace dominated one in the 1980's, and averaging 27 with the bat, which is good for a lower order batsman, and you have the emergence of an indian team in which there were at any given time, between 5 to 8 world class players, who, by and large, were good at home, as well as overseas. Victories by these players in england and west indies ensured that touring teams started to send their best teams to india. In the 1950's and 1960's, india had a decent home record. But because india had a very poor away record, touring teams, especially england, underestimated india and didn't always send their best teams to india. The victories in england and the west indies in 1971 proved to be a wakeup call for other test playing nations to start taking india seriously. These victories were the first ever series victories of india in england and west indies. The first ever series victory of india came in 1967 in new zealand.
Vengsarkar made his debut in ,1976 ag newzeland and Mohinder never played a test match between 1971 to 1975 and was again selected in 1976 for newzeland tour though he made debut in1969
Sunny Gavaskar is the best batsman ever to toured the WI , as a west Indian I believe the batting ability of this man was only comparable to our batting super star Viv Richard
@@balasubramaniamjayaraman1838 He only faced Lillee twice in his life, In 1972/73 where he got owned and Dk removed him 4 times, he only crossed 50 when Lillee wasnt playing * In 1980/81, Dk owned Sunny again and dismissed him 2 times.. He only crossed 50 once in both of these tours during the tour.
you think it's the 70s when you meet tame bowlers eh?when the West Indies went down under and the the Australians bounced them out you didn't criticize them. You came to win and so was the West Indies so what is the big deal ?
West Indies are not really to blame - Those intimidation tactics were used first by Australia and England. West Indies decided enough was enough and they would not be bullied. They decided to fight fire with fire🔥 - India felt the first brunt and many followed!!
When the Australians did it with Lillie, Thompson et al, the media had no issues with the tactics. BUT, when the West Indies found four express bowlers, it was all of a sudden barbaric. Funny how the world is and how much the Aussies complained when the Windies returned. Sorry that the Indians had to experience it.
There are few factual errors here - Dilip Vengasrkar didn't play in Port of Spain where India chased 403, it was GRV, SMG and Mohinder who got the runs. Also the picture of Indian manager is that of Vijay Hazare, not Polly Umrigar
We Indians had sweetest revenge without spilling a single drop of blood in 1983. That's INDIA!!!. We have the power of soul. You cannot ignore India or Indians.

That was One Day and this was Test match West Indies came same year in 1983-84 and beat us on our own soil... and there is no video footage of this match... I don't perhaps agree with West Indies tactics but don't bring soul into all this.
One thing we all need to agree but... It is India which always stops the might of a team. ....at one point of time it was mighty west indies and then it was the mighty Australians.
Roopam Banerjee How did they stop the West Indies of that time? If anything they 'started the ball rolling' (no pun intended) for the era of dominance of West Indies cricket especially through their fast bowling as the commentator described! 🤔
I wish atleast test cricket rules remained the same as the classic days. What a thrilling experience it would have been. Watching classic highlights are always more interesting than watching the modern day cricket.. What a heroic legacy they left for Indian cricket!
Mr. West Indies country cricket board. West Indies people's. Stadium gathered people. wI country intelligent person s. This is not cricket. Blody lines balling not I hate your strategy. I am proud my indian team.
@Aton Freckleton It doesn't matter who are playing with whom, In this match we could see that the bowlers intention is to target the batsmen professionally(by taking the wicket(s)), if failed to do so then unprofessionally injure them, the ultimate moto is to win the game. Don't mind bro, if the any player(even indian) is doing the same against any other team its not acceptable.
One bouncer rule would have never been introduced if there were no Wasim n Waqar. It was just to apply brakes to their aggression, pathetic & biased western mentality against subcontinent teams. As far this IND/WI series, till now I heard a lot about brutality of WI bowlers but didn't know that how bravely Indian batting line-up faced them. A record chase of 403 against a furious bowling line-up needs great courage & determination, absolutely miraculous . Then 306/6 on a wicket like Jamaica, was not less than a nightmare, especially without any modern day protection. WI nailed India by sending their players to hospital instead of making their way to Pavilion, brutal approach, otherwise it could have been a different story. Anyways, I didn't see much of Indian players of that era but right to conclude that that Indian line-up may be regarded as all time great Indian batting side, solid & courageous. Hats off to Bedi n company from Pakistan👍👍👍 .
@@predatorprey8656 BTW I didn't compare, just discussed bouncer rule reasoning. Anyways, these are your thoughts dude but I want to disagree respectfully. Nothing to take away from WI bowlers but while going into comparison with W's, just compare the condition and pitches as well. Also, modern protection guards were not in place in 70's, feeling batsmen less secure. More special, no /over bouncer limit , making a genuine pacer more fierceful. So providing the conditions ,protections & change of rules in their era, I think W 's were really at top. Moreover, if it is only hitting the body or generating the super pace makes someone best, then Shoaib Akhtar should stand far ahead of Wasim, similarly Thompson over Lillie and Lee over Mc Grath should have an edge but it is not the case.
@@adeelusmani5132 frankly, I'd take wasim over almost all the windies bowlers. The man was a bloody magician with the ball. Absolute king of pace and swing. And could bat too.
@@ussspirit4812 Absolutely bro. When some experts asked Brian Lara about the greatest bowler he faced, without pause he replied, "Wasim Akram by a mile". Further he added, while making 400 runs if someone could trouble him then that would be Wasim Akram only. One of his closest rival of the game, great Allan Donald once asked about his views to be the best in business at that time. He replied, no it is not me but infact Akram is the true best. Another cricketing great AB Devillier said that Wasim was best among the bowlers he had ever seen. When asked if there was someone in current Pak team to match his caliber, he replied not just in Pakistan even not in the whole world could anyone match him.
Pakistan faced even more pace with Roberts at his peak, and with the menacing Croft and Garner in 76-77. The 2-1 WI victory in the 5 test series was nearly drawn 2-2 with the West Indies 9 wickets down in Bridgetown and with 60 runs to go in the end. Sadiq Mohammad had his face smashed by a Andy Roberts bouncer, but they never complained even once about the West Indian tactics. Wasim Raja scored 517 runs in that series and Majid Khan 530. Asif Iqbal scored 134 on the fast Sabina Park pitch.
The most dangerous of the Windies quickies was Sylvester Clarke because he could make the bouncer cut back at pace to follow the batsman attempting to sway back. I watched him at Surrey in the 80s and he was the only bowler I saw get inside the heads of Richards and Gooch. It was a shame his test career was cut short by the episode in Pakistan.
Intentional bodyline bowling and unintentional injury caused due to pace are two different things, this 2nd may be due to fault of batsman in assessing line and length.
@arunchikodikar397 Did you see even one of the Pakistan vs West Indies tests in the 1976-77 series? The West Indies admitted that Pakistan gave them a very tough time. They bowled accurately but with sheer intimidation. Majid Khan and Sadiq Mohammad got hit by Andy Roberts. Mushtaq Mohammad kept on fighting and leading the team. Bedi quit.
71 victory of India on West Indies changed the India Cricket. and rose vto the ist position in the world. The series gave India confidence to play fast bowlers in the world
This body line bowling was unfortunate, brutal and would be remembered for ever for onslaught as it to me was unfair to hit the batsman instead of stupms
Those body line bowlers will be smacked sixes all over the park by today's T20 generation batsman. They were brutal those days just because there were no protective equipments for batsmen to escape from body line balls.
The problem really was that Indians were small people compared to Caribbean people. Our fast bowlers faced big tough batsmen who can regularly smash them to the boundary. When scrawny Indians faced those bowlers they were not ready. Should the West-Indians complain about India's finesse bowlers? Made no sense. You utilize your advantage.
at least this is what the Aussies did to the West Indies, that within itself was a reminder to the West indies, that they would have to step up- -the Aussies humiliated the West indies and Clive was certain that this was not going to happen again. the Aussies were bowling lots of bouncers, but no one was complaining, not even the West Indies. now the West Indies captain understood how to respond and someone was going o pay for this dreadful humiliation in Australia
@@sahasransusbarik That's a joke...I don't see many batsmen of today that would be able to smack them around the ground (helmet or no helmet)...most of the bowlers of today pale in comparison to those great West Indian and Australian fast bowlers.
There were no Helmets or Arm Guards in 1976, which meant that short balls/bumpers directed at batsmen (6 per over) made run scoring difficult and hooking resulted in batsmen missing the ball and getting injured. Indians may have been short in skill to handle short bowling, but you can't expect tailenders to score against short bowling and that too without any protection.
With full intention to hit the batsmen, Indians still got 309/6 and with west Indies strong battling line and 'fair play' from Indians they were all out under 400. I think this is enough to show who was a better team purely on cricket skills.
West Indies didn't complain to the world when the Aussies did it to them. they understood what they had to do because that was a wake-up call to them, and wake up they did--unfortunately for the Indians, they would feel the baptism of that wrath . lol
And India went on to be undefeated in Test cricket for the next 12 years?? Uh..nope. West Indies learned fair play alone won't win Test matches. Top class fast bowlers and a strong batting line-up will. India did well, but once this bowling line-up clicked it was game over.
I am a big fan of Sachin Tendulkar but I always knew that Gavaskar had faced the most ferocious bowlers and those days pitch were deadlier even rules were totally against batsmen. What Gavaskar did nobody ever did in Cricket as a batsman even Bradman also. These West Indies bowlers were bowling at 150 speed bouncers and beamers. Eight bowl over.
If someone is not sure about his victory then he start adopting unfair practice ( may it be Australia or WI). They were better team at that era , so they should have adopted fair cricket practices. It was clear the WI was not sure about their victory in that last test, and accepted that they could not win on purely cricketing skills and that they have adopted this practice against India in that test. So it was clear acceptance by WI that time that they couldn't win against India by playing fair cricket.
West Indies fast bowlers only knew to bowl fast and lethal against the opposite team. They never learnt to bear the burnt of lethal fast bowling. Lilli and Thompson taught them this lesson in 1975 series.
West Indies did what is done during the match. Issue was with Indian team who were unaware of how to play fast & furious bowling. It had always been thrilling and fun to watch WI bowling in late 70s and 80s and early 90s. And of course, It was Pakistan fast & furious bowling in 90s and early 2000.
Cricket is generally called a gentleman's game...please note the term GENTLEMAN ...getting on the pitch with the intent of physically hurting someone just to prove a point or to satisfy personal ego is an expression of narrow and disturbing mentality . What if back in those days someone lost a life on the field ? A sportsman should first be a good human being. Glad the ICC has brought in regulations which has added human sensitivity to the sport .
Well India was always bad, it took 60 years to form a decent team. Now with all the people following cricket and great deal of commercialization, the board became too strong and has enough resources to create a good coaching program to create a decent team. If India could create fast bowlers they would have done it as well, so stop with the nonsense of taking the higher road . Just look at Kohli and co trash talking all the time. On the same note, we all know what road BCCI and their cronies take !!! At least Windies played with joy and flair unlike the uptight Indian batsmen !!! They beat a good Australian team, England, and had a fascinating contest with the Pakistan team, all this without the aid of technology and computer analysis.
@@arduinohome3729 you still dont get it do you? Windies didn’t start the pace, Lillie and Thommo taught them a brutal lesson and following that Windies found some good talent and dished it back. take those players and put them in today's situations. the entire bowling attack of lloyd's would be banned from bowling and the test match would be over on the first day. not to mention, the amount of protection batsman have now, gavaskar and co would spank them soo hard, the 400+ chase in the previous test match would look like a cake walk.
@@kabirsardana1282 Well you must remember West Indies did not start that trend, no one seems to remember when Lillie & Thompson almost killed the west Indian batsmen, all that happened is the West Indies made sure that it never happened to them again, all that happened is that the West Indies became the best in the world at that time. I don't blame them.
at least the West indies learned their lessons from the humiliation of the Aussies in 1975---unfortunately for the Indians they faced the baptism of what was the beginning of pace like fire.
I recall the immortal Patrick Patterson who came in full tilt against a tailender, then pulled up and cracked a joke with the batsman and then bowled offspin. God bless you Sir, Patrick Patterson.
I am unfortunate to see the mighty WI team matches when they were having fierce bowling attack. WI board should work to produce bowlers like those Era....
Protective gear and lifeless wickets has made life lot easier for batsman for sure. You don't even need to play six days. Same feared Windies pace battery of early days is a pale shadow of that now.
There is no comparison between Gavaskar and Tendulkar. Tendulkar played in an era of helmets and all sorts of paddings and custom made bats etc. Gavaskar played the West Indies in an era of Holding, Marshall, Garner, Wayne Daniels and all the other great bowlers at that time without a helmet or any limit on bouncers and beamers by the bowlers. Hands down Gavaskar was far superior as a real batsman with his technique and class to handle such bowlers from West Indies when they resorted to that lowly stuff that tarnished cricket.
That is why it is named and called TEST CRICKET, it seriously puts the batsmen bowlers fielders everybody into tests, you are tested your courage your bravery your patience everything is being tested and this is the real authentic cricket.
What are u talking about ? Wii bowlers employed bodyline tactics they bowled beamers on purpose . They wanted to kill indian batsman and the crowd were cheering kill them kill them .
The unsung hero of the 71 tour ( indias 1st series win out of India ) was Gavaskars fellow opener Dilip Sardesai the father of journalist Rajdeep Sardesai. Gavaskar did not play the 1st test due to an injury. Sardesai took one look at the bowling and famously said " they are bowling papads " ( in Marathi ). Sardesai scored a double century and 2 centuries. Somehow he never got the credit for setting the tone.
Windies had their Karma following them everywhere ever since they lost 2 matches in the WCC 1983 and they never recovered after that and today WI cricket is limping and their cricket board is full of internal problems and Windies had their windfall after Y2K and today they are nowhere... Is this matter Clive lloyd is absolutely true...In those days indian batsmans are not aggressive enough to play that kind of fast bowling. And you have to be a monster to face the monster.
The west Indians were fast furious and nagging accurate. They were impossible to play. Then Gavaskar came along. Gavaskar the greatest batsman in world cricket ever. Because he faced superfast bowling of the Aussies and the West Indians without a helmet. It was like going to war when west Indian pacers were running fast to bowl furiously on under prepared wickets of the west indies. Gavaskar faced Marshall and Thomson both without any protection. Gavaskar The Impregnable Fortress. A Man of Steel. We salute the Little Master.

Sir, pls read what I intend to write.
This a very one sided story, I was there and this guy narrating is obviously bias in his description and narrative.
Pls let us not forget the names of Madanlalji & Mohinder Amarmathji. Their statutes deserve to be built in the cricket stadia.

So much so much effing gibberish.

Wasim and Waqar were not short pitch intimidators like the West Indian bowlers. Waqar especially was all about hitting the stumps.
You utilize your advantage.
at least this is what the Aussies did to the West Indies, that within itself was a reminder to the West indies, that they would have to step up-
-the Aussies humiliated the West indies and Clive was certain that this was not going to happen again. the Aussies were bowling lots of bouncers, but no one was complaining, not even the West Indies. now the West Indies captain understood how to respond and someone was going o pay for this dreadful humiliation in Australia

I wish I could get a copy of that test with India and West Indies when they forfeit the test. Those were the good old days of West Indies cricket.
Thank goodness we have better umpires and replays

@@yogione72 are kehna kya chahte ho ?
Sunil Gavaskar, G.R.Vishwanath, Mohinder Amarnath, Anshuman Gaekwad were excellent players against Fast bowling without wearing helmets.
Undoubtedly, Sunil Gavaskar is the greatest batsman of India.
West Indies fast bowlers only knew to bowl fast and lethal against the opposite team. They never learnt to bear the burnt of lethal fast bowling. Lilli and Thompson taught them this lesson in 1975 series.
Playing with plastic ball without helmet is risky and these guys played with leather ball that too on uncovered wickets. Respect man 👍👍👍
West Indies did what is done during the match. Issue was with Indian team who were unaware of how to play fast & furious bowling. It had always been thrilling and fun to watch WI bowling in late 70s and 80s and early 90s. And of course, It was Pakistan fast & furious bowling in 90s and early 2000.
Pakistan known for their begging skill, nothing else. So stop barking, keep begging
Destiny took it's revenge in 1983
Cricket is generally called a gentleman's game...please note the term GENTLEMAN ...getting on the pitch with the intent of physically hurting someone just to prove a point or to satisfy personal ego is an expression of narrow and disturbing mentality .
Read my comment again .What i am trying to say is excessive violence and aggression could easily kill someone on the field.I believe what ever maybe your country of origin you and I are part of a civilized world and these sportsmen are the best entertainers and not gladiators who are massacaring each other for the delight of those in the stadium.Enjoy the sport and not the aggression. In any game both parties cant win but it takes an actual human being with sensitivity and big heart to accept that the opposite team was better and that we have to better than them next time...but that doesn't mean that the next we face we would be holding the willow or the ball to cause the other teams player injury that maybe career ending or life taking.I hope you have seen the light. This game is for entertainment not to fulfil someone's sick murdeous whim.Peace.
Windies didn’t start the pace, Lillie and Thommo taught them a brutal lesson and following that Windies found some good talent and dished it back. Nothing gentlemanly or not in that , they played within the rules. All that is being conveyed is if any country had such resources at hand they would have employed it at that time.
@@arduinohome3729 Look at the present Indian team. This is the best Indian side to play the game. They have convincingly beaten Australia not once but twice back to back in Australia and they also demolished West Indies in West Indies back in 2018.
Develop some muscles and stop complaining.
I'm a loyal subject to my master's, whatever I take, I give back with interest. Long live Indian cricket 🏏.
Beautifully produced 👌
Very interesting movie. Well done, I learned a lot about the start of the Windies fast bowling.
Can't blame WI as they played the game way they know... We played what we knew about the game... This is a pure case of lack of technology and regulations back then... What about India vs WI now... 🇮🇳🇮🇳
It is easy to say this today. 🙄 Batsman were without Helmets, so what about Sportsmanship?? (This is not War just a Game)
And today's generation called out of sportsmanship when Ashwin run out Buttler in Mankand style.. 😞😞
take those players and put them in today's situations. the entire bowling attack of lloyd's would be banned from bowling and the test match would be over on the first day. not to mention, the amount of protection batsman have now, gavaskar and co would spank them soo hard, the 400+ chase in the previous test match would look like a cake walk.
Loved every minute!
Hats off to indian team...as they have to face the fiersome bowling of windies team.
Yes but they all complaining like schoolgirls as Indians have done from the beginning. Same thing in Australia, England and New Zealand.
This the end of West Indies Cricket
Like ur song in d background vry much....typical West Indian music
yep. Calypso.
Halmets changed the cricket completely

Is this matter Clive lloyd is absolutely true...In those days indian batsmans are not aggressive enough to play that kind of fast bowling. And you have to be a monster to face the monster.
I like the song though 🤣
It's astonishing having blood splattered on the pitch was regular in those days.
The west Indians were fast furious and nagging accurate.
They were impossible to play.
Then
Gavaskar came along.

West indies couldn't out gavaskar at all.
All the video footage is from the 1983 series in India.
His 774 wasn't against the fearsome fab four WI pace quartet.. It was long before that.
These are videos of the 1983 Caribbean tour of India, nothing of the 1976 tour.
No point crying! If we couldn't produce 4 body line bowlers from a population of over 63 crores (in 1976), then there is something lacking in either the selection process or training of fast bowlers during that time...no point crying muaah...muaah...Perfect reply to Clive Lloyd "if it hits you, you have to take it" would be to give some of his shit back to him to terrorize and tone him down....
So now with all the safety gears, West Indies is now a team with no skill because the only skill they knew was to hurt them and now its not possible to that extent
West Indies cricket has nothing to do with safety gear, West Indies problem is that they have not produced any world-class batsman after Brian Lara or World-class bowlers after Walsh & Ambrose...Helmets or not the great West Indian Bowlers & batsmen of that time would have made any current day team look like amateurs.
Superb comments.Thanks.
